  • Bombyx mori nucleopolyhedrovirus (BmNPV) orf47 gene was characterized for the first time. The coding sequence of Bm47 was amplified and subcloned into the prokaryotic expression vector pET-30a(+) in order to produce His-tagged fusion protein in the BL21 (DE3) cells. The His-Bm47 fusion protein was expressed efficiently after induction with IPTG. The purified fusion protein was used to immunize New Zealand white rabbits to prepare polyclonal antibody. As the genome of BmNPV is available in GenBank and the EST database of BmNPV is expanding, identification of novel genes of BmNPV was conceivable by data-mining techniques and bioinformatics tools. Structural bioinformatics approach to analyze the properties of Bm47 encodes protein.

  • Human umbilical cord blood was stored at $4^{\circ}C$ in the Pluronic-immobilized flask as well as commercially available bio-inert flasks, and flow cytometric analysis of surface markers was performed on hematopoietic stem cells after cultivation. The number of cells expressing $CD34^{+}$ in umbilical cord blood on the Pluronic-immobilized flask was extremely higher than those obtained using other flasks. It is concluded that the flexible and hydrophilic segments of Pluronic conjugated on the flask surface are the reason for the effective preservation of hematopoietic stem cells in the Pluronic-immobilized flask.

  • As the genome of B.mori is available in GenBank and the EST database of B.mori is expanding, identification of novel genes of B.mori is conceivable by data-mining techniques. We used the in silico cloning method to get the vacuolar-type $H^+-ATP$ synthetase (V-ATPase) c subunit (16 kDa proteolipid subunit) gene of B.mori and analysed with bioinformatics tools. The result was confirmed by RT-PCR and sequencing. The V-ATPase c subunit cDNA contains a 468 bp ORF. The ORF encoded a 155-residue protein that showed extensive homology with V-ATPase c subunits from other 15 species and contained four membrane-spanning helices. Tissue expression pattern analysis revealed that V-ATPase c expressed strongly in Malpighian tubules, not in fat body. This gene has been registered in GenBank under the accession number EU082222.

  • The variable fatigue load is simulated in this study. The stability and the life of the material are analyzed theoretically by Ansys program. These results are successfully applied to the practical wheel to predict the prevention of fracture and the endurance. The life and the damage on the every part of the fatigue specimen can be predicted. As the available lives are compared for every loading variation, the rain flow and damage matrix results can be helpful in determining the effects of small stress cycles in any loading history. The rainbow and damage matrices illustrate the possible effects of infinite life. The safety and stability of wheel and the other practical structures according to the variable load can be estimated by using the results of this study.

  • The spot welding method has been used in the joining of structures, automotive body, railway carriage, aircraft, household electric appliances, precision parts etc., because of brief working, easy automation, available mass production, and convenience. In this paper, the effects of welding conditions on the fatigue life and the prediction of fatigue life based on fracture mechanics theory of spot welded joint were investigated. Fatigue tests were conducted with the tensile-shear specimens welded in the various current using cold rolled steel sheets. Fatigue life of spot welded joint was predicted and compared with experimental results. Using FEM(finite element method), we analysed the distribution of stress and the condition of deformation on the environments of nugget.

  • Most space-related life science programs are expensive and time-consuming, requiring international cooperation and resources with trans-disciplinary expertise. A comprehensive future program in "life sciences in space" needs, therefore, well-defined research goals and strategies as well as a sound ground-based program. The first half of this review will describe four key aspects such as the environment in space, previous accomplishments in space (primarily focusing on amphibian embryogenesis), available resources, and recent advances in bioinformatics and biotechnology, whose clear understanding is imperative for defining future directions. The second half of this review will focus on a broad range of interdisciplinary research opportunities currently supported by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), National Institute of Health (NIH), and National Science Foundation (NSF). By listing numerous research topics such as alterations in a diffusion-limited metabolic process, bone loss and skeletal) muscle weakness of astronauts, behavioral and cognitive ability in space, life in extreme environment, etc., we will attempt to suggest future opportunities.

  • The Internet is becoming an abstract system from which we can get every kind of project and to which we can entrust every kind of project. That is, Internet can be considered both as an infinite scale of task pool and infinite scale of TM (Task Module) pool, which surely provides the necessary and sufficient condition for dwelling of the virtual life. n we could build up the proper ecosystem composed of the virtual life, It would be possible to implement the system as a life. The life system thus obtained provides us some decisive advantages, which is not available by the reduction paradigm. In this Paper, we presented an ecosystem based on Internet which will be followed by the discussion of its meaning in terms of usefulness.

  • Usability assessment has been installed into a wide range of software that focuses on assessing product usage from the user's perspective. Usability assessment of the quality of life technology for individuals with disability is being discussed and tentatively designed which is also expanded to the products for non-disabled people with minor adjustment of the usability assessment protocol. Designing an appropriate usability assessment protocol by referencing the currently available international standards on software usability tests with number of modifications to produce valuable feedbacks is under evaluation process regarding product usability enhancement. The feasibility study on usability assessment protocol into quality of life technologies is presented with discussions on further research.

  • This study examines the factors that have an effect on the satisfaction of student campus life in two college. By the survey questionnaire, three factors selected from 14 questionnaire by factor analysis in the college environmental character. Those factors ware analyzed to estimate the results of this study. And the effect and type of word of mouth communication surveyed by one questionnaire respectively. The major results of this study are as follow; First, the factors that effected on satisfaction of students are the distinction of sex, the division of major field and the distinction of college. But the academic grade factor is not available, Second, the factors of tutors/curriculums and education support service effected on satisfaction of students in campus life, but the factor of education convenience facility is not. Finally, the effect and communication of word of mouth resulted in effectiveness for on satisfaction of students in campus life.
