  • This paper describes and automatic mirror adjustment system that rotates a pair of side mirrors and the room mirror of a car to the optimal position for a driver by using the locating of the driver\`s pupils. A stereo vision system measures 3D coordinates of a pair pupils by analyzing the input images of stereo B/W CCD cameras mounted on the instrument panel. this system determines the position angle of each mir-ror on the basis of information about the location of the pupils and rotates each mirror to the appropriate po-sition by mirror actuators. The vision system can detect the driver\`s pupils regardless of whether it is day-time or nighttime by virtue of an infrared light source. information about the pair of nostrils in used to im- prove the correctness of pupil detection. This system can adjust side mirrors and the room mirror automati- cally and rapidly by a simple interface regardless of driver replacement of driver\`s posture. Experiment has shown this to be a new mirror adjustment system that can make up for the weak points of previous mirror adjustment systems.

  • To be presented is two-dimensional chip-load analysis for cutting-load smoothing which is needed in unmanned machining and high speed machining of sculptured surfaces. Cutter-engagement angle and effective cutting depth are defined as chip-loads which are the geometrical measures corresponding to cutting-load while machining. The extreme values of chip-loads are geometrically derived in the line-line and line-arc-line blocks of the two-dimensional NC-codes. AFA(automatic feedrate adjustment) strategy for cutting-load smoothing is presented based on the chip-load trajectories.

  • Proposed in this paper is a model-bated AFA (automatic feedrate-adjustment) method for maintaining smooth cutting-loads (i.e., cutting-force) during 2D-profile milling. Before the cutting-force model was established, some assumptions were verified through a series of preliminary cutting experiments (The results found that the curving-force was independent of the cutting speed and the cutting action at the cutter bosom). From the data obtained during the main cutting experiments, a “chip-load/cutting-force model”representing the cutting-force as a function of the chip-load (i.e., effective cutting-depth) and a feedrate is proposed. Based on the model. an AFA scheme for maintaining smooth cutting-force by adjusting the feedrate (i.e., F-code) according to the changes in chip-load was proposed. To check the validity of the proposed AFA scheme. another set of cutting experiments was conducted by using feedrate-adjusted NC-data while monitoring the actual machining processes using an accelerometer. The experimental results showed that the proposed AFA-scheme was quite effective.

  • This paper proposes an auto-tuning method of feedforward signal in boiler control of thermal power plants by using the neural network. The neural network produces an optimal feedforward signal by tuning the weights of the network. The weights are adapted effectively by using the teaching signal of PI control output. The proposed method was evaluated based on a detailed simulator which expressed non-linear characteristics of the 600 MW actual thermal power plant at load chaning operations, showed effectiveness in the learning of the weights of the neural network, and gave an accurate control performance in the temperature control of the system. Through the evaluation, the proposed method was proved to be effectively applicable to the actual thermal plants as the automatic adjustment tool.

  • By adding height compensation to the usual 3 points skew adjustment device, an improved functional skew adjustment device is implemented in this paper. The proposed skew adjustment device is for traverse which will be adapted to BD and HD player system requiring more accuracy. and It can adjust not only R/T skew but also height. The system is composed of personal computer, control box, kinematic mechanism device and bar-code reader device. Application programs are implemented by visual basic.

  • When the fuzzy controller apply to a real plant, We have not excepted result of a satisfactory control by modeling error and lacking information about an plant. In this case, we have to adjust the scale factors for improvement of the control performance and this method need a lot of time and cost for perform a trial and error. In this paper, we proposed the fuzzy controller with the automatic adjustment of scaling factors. It was improve upon the control performance using a adequate scale factor by fuzzy logic and normalizer. As the results of simulation through the second order plant, we confirmed that the proposed the fuzzy controller within the function of automatic scale get a good response compare with the fuzzy controller within the fixed scale factor.

  • A digital adaptive flight control system is presented for a Japanese automatic landing flight experiment vehicle (ALFLEX). In previous adaptive control systems based on a linear-parameter-varying (LPV) form, the output behavior was excellent, while the behavior of the adjusted parameters was unsatisfactory. In the present study, to obtain a more appropriate parameter adjustment law, the relationship between the coefficient matrices in a continuous-time state equation and the coefficients of a pulse transfer function in a discrete system for conventional aircraft is investigated. As a result, it is revealed that the coefficients of the numerator can be treated as a linear function of dynamic pressure (linear-parameter-varying: LPV), while the coefficients of the denominator can be treated as constant (linear-time-invariant: LTI). From the above analysis, an improved parameter adjustment law is derived by reducing the number of the adjustment parameters. Simulation results also revealed both good output tracking and good parameter adjustment compared with the previous results.

  • Process adjustment has been widely used in production processes in order to set the output characteristic as close as to the target. Box and Kramer(1992) developed a feedback adjustment control procedure for process adjustment. We generalize their procedure by using a rational subgrouping of sequential observations. In this paper the feedback control rule of the rational subgrouping is proposed and the overall expected cost is evaluated. Also properties of the proposed control scheme are illustrated and compared to Box and Kramer's in the context of the expected cost.

  • Optical fiber is indispensable for optical communication systems that transmit large volumes of data at high speed, but super precision technology in sub-micron units is required for optical axis adjustment. We developed the automatic optical fiber by image processing and automatic loading system. we have developed 6-axis micro stage system for I/O optical fiber arrays, the initial automatic aligning system software for a input optical array by the image processing technique, fast I/O-synchronous aligning strategy, the automatic loading/unloading system and the automatic UV bonding mechanism. In order to adjust the alignment it used on PC based motion controller, a $10{\mu}m$ repeat-detailed drawing of automatic loading system is developed by a primary line up for high detailed drawing. Also, at this researches used the image processing system and algorithm instead of the existing a primary hand-line up and fiber input array and waveguide chip formed in line by automatic.
