Reconstruction of the three-dimensional (3D) environment is a key aspect of augmented reality and augmented virtuality, which utilize and incorporate a user's surroundings. Such reconstruction can be easily realized by employing a Kinect device. However, multiple Kinect devices are required for enhancing the reconstruction density and for spatial expansion. While employing multiple Kinect devices, they must be calibrated with respect to each other in advance, and a marker is often used for this purpose. However, a marker needs to be placed at each calibration, and the result of marker detection significantly affects the calibration accuracy. Therefore, a user-friendly, efficient, accurate, and marker-less method for calibrating multiple Kinect devices is proposed in this study. The proposed method includes a joint tracking algorithm for approximate calibration, and the obtained result is further refined by applying the iterative closest point algorithm. Experimental results indicate that the proposed method is a convenient alternative to conventional marker-based methods for calibrating multiple Kinect devices. Hence, the proposed method can be incorporated in various applications of augmented reality and augmented virtuality that require 3D environment reconstruction by employing multiple Kinect devices.

At present, various technologies are rapidly advancing, centering on the concept of virtuality. From the technology of virtual reality, which allows us to experience the senses as if they existed, to the technology of augmented reality, which provides new information or services based on reality, they are no longer strange things for ourselves because we experience them every day and night. Even though the concept of virtual is very familiar in terms of technology, it is not known how individuals accept the concept of virtuality, how they change our way of thinking, and how their behavior changes. This study aims to approach virtuality perceived by the individual from the viewpoint of individual's information processing. Virtuality is defined as the degree to which the situation facing an individual is far from actual reality. An individual can judge the degree of virtuality easily, which is considered to be a psychological distance which is an important factor in personal information processing. In this study, we have confirmed whether the argument is applied to the real world in the context of advertisement. According to the construal level theory, when an individual feels virtuality at a high level, the individual thinks that the situation they are facing is psychologically distant and accordingly has a high level construal. Therefore, it is more influenced by 'advertisement emphasizing symbolic appeal' which is matching with higher level. On the other hand, when an individual feels a low level of virtuality, the individual thinks that the situation they are facing is psychologically near and thus has a low level construal. Therefore, respondents are more sensitive to functional appeal, which is related to lower level. This study has the theoretical contribution in terms that the degree of virtuality affects the psychological distance of the individual. In addition, the results of this study have practical contribution in terms of being able to be actively used in the information delivery strategy centered on the advertisement.
This study purposed to interpret subjectivity, which centers on the concept of virtuality embedded in the process of virtualizing contextual awareness and mixing the boundary between realities and virtual realities for renewing the feeling of time and space represented by augmented realities in daily spaces, from the viewpoint of traditional media. By explaining how the reflection of reality is exposed focusing on immediacy and hypermediacy from the viewpoint of media remediation, we found that, different from conventional media, augmented reality enables the screen to function as a part of subject and play a role and, by doing so, converts it to the complete subject of digital media comprehending observers and operators.
We In this study, We tested for artificial intelligence-based virtual space story books were planned. The proposed virtual space concept, a story book with the characteristics of Augmented Virtuality, was implemented Several steps are needed to proceed with the virtual space storybook's story. First, a user brings a real object in to virtual space and recognizes the real object with an artificial intelligence-based object-recognition software. Second, when object recognition progresses, the virtual 3D model is augmented in the virtual space, which is then inserted into the virtual space and rendered. Finally, software projected a virtual space storybook on the desk in which users can touch and select real-objects. This virtual space storybook was implemented using the new story-making technology by applying the virtual space concept. the Augmented Virtuality concept is to augment real objects based on virtual space. To confirm this we tested a user test using the virtual space storybook. the user seemed as if can the distinction between real objects and virtual images. Also very well and that understood the process of putting the real objects in virtual space.

The Augmented Reality of existing for the interaction which the object and background is smooth used the data glove or marker. It is inconvenient to a use and it occurs the result of immersion feeling decrease. Immersion it will wind from Augmented Reality and the hazard which it strengthens the removal of the additional entry device which stands is necessary. It recognizes the space coordinates which is accurate even from the condition where the hazard marker which will reach does not attach in necessity. Immersion feeling improvement from Augmented Reality wearing the hazard additional entry device it proposes the space coordinate creation technique of the virtuality description below for a interaction without from the present paper. The method which is proposed the image which it acquires the object of virtuality reflected at 2D space and the characteristic line about under extracting the space coordinate which reflects about under calculating it reflected. The application is possible in markerless Augmented Reality and the mobile Augmented Reality.
This study aims to investigate that today's Mixed Reality Technology did not appear suddenly but has its beginnings in 20th century Visual and Interactive Art. First, Photographic Art expressed three-D on the two-dimensional plane and mixed images of reality and virtuality. Photogram made people experience both two-dimensional images and three-dimensional effects concurrently, and Photomontage combined various photos and mixed reality and virtuality. Next, Cinema tried to combine virtuality and reality using objets and CG. Early Cinema composed films and real objets. As computer technology developed, Cinema composed objet CG on real images and then tried background CG compositing. Finally, Telepresence Art tried a new possibility of Mixed Reality breaking the boundary between reality and virtuality, subject and object. It oscillates between virtual space in reality and real space in virtuality, or represents Mixed Reality by remote control of long distance participants. In the future, for the development and direction of Mixed Reality, there will be more need of referring to Visual and Interactive Art.
Mixed and augmented reality technique deals with mixing content between real world and virtual world containing augmented reality and augmented virtuality excluding of pure real and pure virtual world. In mixed and augmented reality, if a live actor and entity moving in real world can be embedded more naturally in 3D virtual world, various advanced applications such 3D tele-presence, 3D virtual experience education and etc can be serviced. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a standard model which is supporting to embed the live actor and entity into 3D virtual space, and to interact with each other. And also the natural embedding and interaction of live actor and entity can be performed based on the proposed model.

Augmented reality based on projection, called "Spatial Augmented Reality (SAR)", is a new technology that can produce immersive contents by overlapping virtuality and real-world environment. It has been paid attention as the next generation digital contents in media art and human-computer interaction (HCI). In this paper, we present a new methodology to evaluate the product appearance design more intuitively by means of SAR technique. The proposed method first projects the high-quality rendered image considering the optical property of materials onto the mock-up of a product. We also conduct a projector-camera calibration to compensate a color distortion according to a projector, a projection surface and environment lighting. The design evaluation methodology we propose offers more flexible and intuitive evaluation environment to a designer and user (evaluator) than previous methods that are performed via a digital display. At the end of this research, we have conducted a case study for designing and evaluating appearance design of an automobile.

This study uses the identification which is one of the critical components of psychological mechanism and enables replacing one's own self because of the needs of self-expression(disclosure) and creation. The study aims to improve educational effects using the realistic by increasing sense of the virtual reality and the attention. After the computer-based contents were developed and converted to be applied into robot, and then the contents were combined the student's photo and the avatar using automatic loading. Finally each one of the contents was applied to the students. The results of the investigation indicated that there were significant effects of the contents based on identification. In other words, the contents effect on student's attention, but not their academic achievement. The study could find the effect of the identification's application using the educational robot. We suggested that improving technical ability of the augmented virtuality as a face-detection and sensitive interaction may lead to the specific suggestions for educational effects for further research.

This study is intended to propose a technique that can trace objects by utilizing the multimarker method in the Marker Recognition which is a bridge way connecting virtuality and reality in complex environments or in a condition hands become obstacles. In the existing marker method, the object becomes blinking when the maker is blocked since this method relies only on single marker. However, the researcher was able to confirm the appearance of augmented object when the marker was blocked for the multiple markers replaced the blocked one. In order to implement such technique, multi-marker estimation was utilized with perspective matrix. The advantage is the fast estimation process for there is no need of other calculation. The implemented technique can detect markers and locate their positions, represent 3-D object in various circumstances.
