Experimental Verification of Effectiveness of Stabilization Control System for Mobile Surveillance Robot (기동형 경계로봇 안정화 시스템의 실험적 검증)

  • A mobile surveillance robot is defined as a surveillance robot system that is mounted on a mobile platform and is used to protect public areas such as airports or harbors from invaders. The mobile surveillance robot that is mounted on a mobile platform consists of a gun module, a camera system module, an embedded control system, and AHRS (Attitude and Heading Reference System). It has two axis control systems for controlling its elevation and azimuth. In order to obtain stable images for targeting invaders, this system requires a stabilizer to compensate any disturbance due to vehicle motion. In this study, a virtual model of a mobile surveillance robot has been created and ADAMS/Matlab simulations have been performed to verify the suitability of the proposed stabilization algorithm. Further, the suitability of the stabilization algorithm has also been verified using a mock-up of the mobile surveillance robot and a 6-DOF (Degree Of Freedom) motion simulator.

A Study on Performance Improvement Method of Fixed-gain Self-alignment on Temperature Stabilizing State of Accelerometers (가속도계 온도안정화 상태에서 고정이득방식 자체정렬의 성능개선 방법에 대한 연구)

  • For inertial navigation systems, initial information such as position, velocity and attitude is required for navigation. Self-alignment is the process to determine initial attitude on stationary condition using inertial measurements such as accelerations and angular rates. The accuracy of self-alignment is determined by inertial sensor error. As soon as an inertial navigation system is powered on, the temperature of accelerometer rises rapidly until temperature stabilization. It causes acceleration error which is called temperature stabilizing error of accelerometer. Therefore, temperature stabilizing error degrades the alignment accuracy and also increases alignment time. This paper suggests a method to calculate azimuthal attitude using curve fitting of horizontal control angular rate in fixed-gain self-alignment. It is verified by simulation and experiment that the accuracy is improved and the alignment time is reduced using the proposed method under existence of the temperature stabilizing error.

  • This paper presents a new attitude stabilization and control of an unmanned helicopter based on neural network compensation. A systematic derivation on the dynamics of an unmanned small-scale helicopter is performed. Combined rotor-fuselage-tail dynamics is derived in body-fixed reference frame with its origin at the C.G. of the helicopter. And the resulting nonlinear equation of motion consists of 6-DOF air vehicle dynamics as well as the rotor flapping and engine torque equations. A simulation model was modified using the existing simulator for an unmanned helicopter dynamic model, which reflects the unmanned test helicopter(CNUHELI). The dynamic response of the refined model was compared with the flight test data. It can be shown that a good coincidence was accomplished between the real unmanned helicopter system and the mathematical model. This dynamic model was linearized for classical controller design using small perturbation method. A Neuro-PD control system was designed for both longitudinal and lateral flight modes, and the results were compared with the PD-only control response. Simulation results show that the proposed Neuro-PD control system demonstrates better performance.

  • In this paper, we propose an attitude controller for an unstructured object using CMG(Control Moment of Gyro) subsystem, which has a stabilizer function. The CMG subsystem consists of one motor for spinning the wheel and the other motor for turning the outer gimbal. While the wheel of CMG subsystem is spinning at high speed, applying force to the spin axis of the wheel leads the torque about the vertical axis. We utilize the torque to control the attitude of object in this study. For the stabilizer function, in additiion, holding the load at the current position, the power applied to the gimbal motor of CMG will be cut, which result in the braking force to stop the load by gyro effect. However, due to the gear reduction connected to outer gimbal, slow load motion cannot generate the braking force. Thus, in this study, we are willing to make a holding force by applying control power to the gimbal motor from the signal of piezoelectric gyroscopic sensor that detected the angular velocity of the load. These two features are demonstrated in experiment, carrying a beam with crane. As a result, load was started to rotate by controlling gimbal positiion and was stopped by turning off the gimbal power. Moreover, slow movement of the load was also rejected by additional control with gyroscopic sensor.

  • The control moment gyroscope(CMG) which is well known as an effective high-torque-generating device is applicable to space vehicles, airplanes, ships, automobiles, robotics, etc. for attitude stabilization and maneuver. This paper deals with the overall details of 100Nm-class CMG development for various industrial applications, and provides the activities and results associated with the CMG system-level requirement analysis, the motor subsystem design/manufacturing/integration, the construction of ground support equipment, and the performance test and evaluation. The performance test reveals that the CMG generates the torque output more than 120Nm in as-designed operation of spin motor and gimbal motor.

  • The radar installed on an aircraft has various operating modes depending on tactical purposes, allowing for the configuration of search areas according to each mode's operational objectives. active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar emits search beams sequentially according to a predefined search beam grid within the designated search area specified by the pilot to detect targets within it. It is crucial that the radar can stably search the area designated by the pilot for target detection, even as the aircraft's attitude changes. This paper focuses on stabilizing the search pattern in the air-to-air operational mode of aircraft-mounted radar to ensure stable target detection during roll and pitch maneuvers of the aircraft. The paper demonstrates its performance by simulating aircraft maneuvers and targets in a system integration laboratory (SIL) test environment.

  • Quad-rotor is one kind of a rotorcraft in Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), which consists of four rotors in total and fixed-pitch blades located at the four corners. This vehicle is emerging as popular platform for UAV research due to the simplicity of its construction, the ability of hovering and the vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) capability, etc. Because of those specific capabilities, this vehicle can be applied to many fields: search and rescue, mobile sensor networks, fire observation, etc. However a quad-rotor is much affected by the disturbance due to the characteristics of structure. So this vehicle needs attitude control for stabilizing. In this paper, we design the control law for automatic stabilization. The PID controller is used to control a brushless DC motor. And an accelerometer is used to measure the roll and pitch angles of a quad-rotor.

Analysis of Angular Velocity Stabilization of Spacecraft After One Control Moment Gyroscope's Failure (한 개의 제어모멘트자이로 고장에 따른 위성 각속도 안정화 분석)

  • The control characteristics after the failure of the control moment gyros, the actuators for satellite attitude control, were analyzed. In particular, the situation where one out of four failed was considered. For the most commonly used pyramids and box-90 structures, the singularities and singular surfaces after failure were analyzed and compared. Dynamic equations for the process of reducing the wheel speed after the failure were derived. The process of stabilizing the angular velocity of a satellite while absorbing the momentum of the faulty module by the three normal modules was analyzed. For singular shapes, the remaining CMGs may be locked or excessively shake. The authors proposed that it can be prevented by rearranging the gimbal angles.

  • In this paper, we propose a advanced attitude PID controller and sensor fusion method robust to the vibration of the quadcopter unmanned air vehicle using four BLDC motors. When the gyro sensor and acceleration sensor are fused, a complementary filter is designed to ignore the vibrations generated by the motors and to complement the drawbacks. As a result, we obtain accurate results than using each sensor. Also, it is possible to obtain a low delay results in robust to vibration than the low-pass filter or moving average filter, which is generally used for quadcopter. And we improved D controller, which have being used for attitude control of quadcopter, to quadcopter using gyro sensor. it was confirmed that the attitude is stabilized and error is reduced By using gyro sensor output instead of variation of estimated angle in D control.

Spin-Stabilization for the Second Stage of Korea Sounding Rocket-III (KSR-III 탑재부 스핀안정화 기법 연구)

  • This paper concerns the spin-stabilization for the second stage of KSR-III(Korea Sounding Rocket-III). The error sources in the second stage are defined, and then the effect on attitude error of KSR-III is analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. Based on the analysis, some conditions for optimal spinning frequency and optimal steady-spinning duration are suggested. Among several solutions, an optimal value can be determined in the point of minimum impact-point error. An approach to a sub-optimal solution is also suggested. Application to the KSR-III shows that a proper spinning frequency and a steady-spin duration to give the smallest impact-point error can be effectively determined.
