The mechanization of navigation equation is depending on the designer according to the orientation vector relating the body frame to a chosen to inertial and navigation frames for its purposes. This paper considers the appropriate Earth Fixed frame for short range vehicle and develops a mechanization and algorithm for Strapdown Inertial Navigation System(SDINS). This mechanization consists of two parts : translational mechanization and rotational mechanization{attitude determination). The accuracy, availability and performance of this SDINS mechanization are verified on the simulation and the numerical method for integration attitude propagation is compared with a well-known method in a precession motion.

This paper presents an attitude determination algorithm for the local level strapdown inertial navigation where the body the earth and the transport rate can be calculated separately using a DCM computation scheme, Also presented is a velocity determination algorithm taking into account the attitude variation caused by he change of the navigation frame. The proposed algorithm are implemented using three samples of the velocity and the angle within the integration interval.

In the field of aerospace engineering, accurate control of a spacecraft's orientation is often very important to mission success. Therefore, attitude control is a technically plentiful and extensively studied subject in controls literature during recent decades. This investigation of spacecraft attitude control is assumed to address two important aspects of the problem solutions. One sliding mode anti-disturbance control for utilization of faulty actuator components and another one disturbance observer based control to improve the pointing accuracy in the absence of anti-vibration equipment for the elastic appendages like a solar panel. Simultaneous occurrence of vibration due to flexible appendages and reaction degradation due to failure in attitude actuators complicates this case. The advantage of this method is acquisition proper control by the combination of disturbance observer and sliding mode compensation that form a fault tolerant control for the concerned satellite attitude control system. Furthermore, the proposed composite method indicates that occurrence the failure in actuators and even elastic solar panel vibration effect may be handled directly without reconfiguring the control components or providing piezoelectric devices. It's noteworthy, attitude quaternion and angular velocity commands are robustly tracked via controllers to become inclined to zero.

This paper suggests Kalman filter formulation using by precision GINS output angle for SDINS initial transfer alignment of missile. The Kalman filter model was derived from quaternion parameters and the transfer alignment system by angle matching method satisfies azimuth observability in horizontal angular motion. The estimated error of SDINS attitude settles to less 3mrad(1.sigma.) in 200 seconds at proper sea state.
Sliding mode control of spacecraft attitude tracking with actuator, especially reaction wheel, is presented. The sliding mode controller is derived based on quaternion parameterization for the kinematic equations of motion. The reaction wheel dynamic equations represented by wheel input voltage are presented. The input voltage to wheel is calculated from the sliding mode controller and reaction wheel dynamics. The global asymptotic stability is shown using a Lyapunov analysis. In addition the robustness analysis is taken for nonlinear system with parameter variations and disturbances. It is shown that the controller ensures control objectives for the spacecraft with reaction wheels.
This paper presents the comparison of Euler-Rodrigues quaternion and Euler Angles using attitude kinematics for aircraft flight simulation. It is hard for PC-Level to accomplish real-time simulation. The purpose of this paper is to accomplish real-time simulation of the aircraft dynamics modeling parts and the graphics parts. The computation time is more reduced in case of applying quaternions than Euler Angles. This paper provides a quaternions algorithm and it's applications for the real-time simulation.

This paper discusses the attitude determination of the CNUSAIL-1 cube-satellite. The primary mission of the CNUSAIL-1 is sail deployment and operation in low Earth orbit, and the secondary mission is to look into influence of the sail deployment on satellite attitude and orbit. The attitude determination strategy is proposed depending on three mission phases, and its performance and applicability are verified through numerical simulations. This study considers the following sensors: Sun sensors and a three-axis magnetometer as attitude reference sensors, and a three-axis MEMS gyroscope as an inertial attitude sensor. Because sensors used for cube satellites have relatively low performances and worse noise characteristics, an Extended Kalman filter (EKF) is applied to attitude determination. Additionally, it has the merits to deal with the Gaussian noises and to predict the attitude even with no measurements from reference attitude sensors, especially in the eclipse of the cube satellite. The performance of the EKF is compared to a deterministic attitude determination technique, QUEST(QUaternion ESTimation).

Predictive filter theory proposed recently can be characterized by inherent advantages of estimating modelling error and overcoming the disadvantage of the Kalman filter theory. A one-step ahead error is minimized to produce optimized filter performance in the form of the predictive filter. The main advantage of this filter lies in the ability to estimate both state vector and system model error. In this paper, attitude estimation results based upon the predictive filter theory is addressed. Mathematical formulation for estimating bias signal is peformed by using the predictive filter theory, and attitude estimation based upon vector observation is presented. From the results of this study, the potential applicability of the predictive filter is highlighted.

Due to the active progress in space programs for various types of ground and space missions, the high agile spacecraft maneuverability is also required. To meet the requirement of the given space missions, the Control Moment Gyros (CMG) for the alternatives of the classical reaction wheels can release the attitude maneuverability restrictions. In addition, the angular rates of the spacecraft is constrained due to the limited actuator characteristics. In this paper, a sliding mode control technique for the attitude control of the spacecraft equipped with the pyramid type of CSCMG(Constant Speed CMG) is designed, and the stability of the control system is guaranteed by using the Lyapunov stability theory. Finally, the control law proposed is analyized by numertical simulations.

This paper proposes optimal control techniques for determining translational and rotational maneuvers that facilitate proximity operations and docking. Two candidate controllers that provide translational motion are compared. A state-dependent Riccati equation controller is formulated from nonlinear relative motion dynamics, and a linear quadratic tracking controller is formulated from linearized relative motion. A linear quadratic Gaussian controller using star trackers to provide quaternion measurements is designed for precision attitude maneuvering. The attitude maneuvers are evaluated for different final axis alignment geometries that depend on the approach distance. A six degrees-of-freedom simulation demonstrates that the controllers successfully perform proximity operations that meet the conditions for docking.
