A new wave-piercing-type high-speed planing boat without a chine was developed, and its basic performance was investigated in a model test, including the resistance, trim, and sinkage. The maximum speed of the developed ship was 35 knots. The hull form was developed by combining a VSV (very slender vessel) and TH (transonic hull), which have large deadrise angles at the bow. The main dimensions were estimated by a statistical approach using actual ship data. The effect of a side fin attached at the stern near the water line was investigated from a resistance point of view. It was found that the developed hull form showed the possibility of a new concept for a high-speed planing hull without a chine, and the side fin played an important role in increasing the resistance performance by controlling the trim and sinkage in the high-speed range.

The aims of this study are to analysis about surface muscle activity of lower and upper musculus erector spinae according to walkers form. The subjects of the current step is inconvenient to use a walker and five people over the age of 65 valid samples were selected as final. All the subjects were measured in three forms. Wireless EMG muscle activity is a measure of surface measurements were measured using a system, both musculus vastus lateralis, outside the erector spinae muscle, musculus biceps femoris, gastrocnemius muscle was attached to the channel electrodes. According to the results, First, gastrocnemius muscle activity showed significant differences by type of gait. Second, the muscle activity of the erector spinae muscle walking showed significant differences by type, side grip type showed the lowest muscle activity. Consequently, the present study is the efficient use of the four-wheel walker will provide the baseline data.
We developed a new type of human-sized BWR (biped walking robot), named KUBIR1 which is driven by the closed-chain type of actuator. A new type of the closed-chain actuator for the robot is developed, which is composed of the four-bar-link mechanism driven by the ball screw which has high strength and high gear ratio. Each leg of the robot is composed of 6 D.O.F joints. For front walking, three pitch joints and one roll joint at the ankle. In addition to this, one yaw joint for direction change, and another roll joint for balancing the body are attached. Also, the robot has two D.O.F joints of each hand and three D.O.F. for eye motion. There are three actuating motors for stereo cameras for eyes. In all, a 18 degree-of-freedom robot was developed. KUBIR1 was designed to walk autonomously by adapting small 90W DC motors as the robot actuators and batteries and controllers are on-boarded. The whole weight for Kubir1 is over 90Kg, and height is 167Cm. In the paper, the performance test of KUBIR1 will be shown.

Push-pull-type copolymers - low-band-gap copolymers of electron-rich fused-ring units (such as cyclopentadithiophene; CPDT) and electron-deficient units (such as benzothiadiazole; BT) - are promising donor materials for organic solar cells. Following a design principles proposed in our previous study, we investigate the electronic structure of a series of new CPDTBT derivatives with various electron-withdrawing groups using the time-dependent density functional theory and predict their power conversion efficiency from a newlydeveloped protocol using the Scharber diagram. Significantly improved efficiencies are expected for derivatives with carbonyl [C=O], carbonothioyl [C=S], dicyano [$C(CN)_2$] and dicyanomethylene [C=$C(CN)_2$] groups, but these polymers with no long alkyl side chain attached to them are likely to be insoluble in most organic solvents and inapplicable to low-cost solution processes. We thus devise several approaches to attach alkyl side chains to these polymers while keeping their high efficiencies.

In this paper, we propose an AR-based tangible interaction using a finger fixture for virtual evaluation of digital handheld products. To realize tangible interaction between a user and a product in a computer-vision based AR environment, we uses two types of tangible objects: a product-type object and a finger fixture. The product-type object is used to acquire the position and orientation of the product, and the finger fixture is used to recognize the position of a finger tip. The two objects are fabricated by RP technology and AR markers are attached to them. The finger fixture is designed to satisfy various requirements with an ultimate goal that the user holding the finger fixture in his or her index finger can create HMI events by touching specified regions (buttons or sliders) of the product-type object with the finger tip. By assessing the accuracy of the proposed interaction, we have found that it can be applied to a wide variety of digital handheld products whose button size is not less than 6 mm. After performing the design evaluation of several handheld products using the proposed AR-based tangible interaction, we received highly encouraging feedback from users since the proposed interaction is intuitive and tangible enough to provide a feeling like manipulating products with human hands.

The stress analysis of the pipeline is required in any kind of plant for its safe operation. For this, the displacement vibration data measured at many locations of the pipeline should be provided. In reality, the installation of the non-contact type displacement sensors such as laser displacement sensors or eddy current type proximity sensors in a narrow and confined region in the vicinity of the pipeline is almost impracticable. In this work, the general purpose piezo-ceramic accelerometers were attached on the measuring points on the pipeline and the acceleration vibration signal was acquired. The measured acceleration signal was low pass filtered and then downsampled. The resulting acceleration signal was transformed into both the time-domain and frequency-domain displacement signal utilizing the fast Fourier transform techniques. All the procedures are presented in detail. It is demonstrated that the measurement of the pipeline acceleration by using contact type accelerometers can be made for the purpose of providing the required displacement data for the stress analysis of the pipeline.

As the integrated circuit device shrinks to smaller dimensions, chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process was required for the global planarization of inter-metal dielectric (IMD) layer with free-defect. However, as the inter-metal dielectrics (IMD) layer gets thinner, micro-scratches are becoming as major defects. Micro-scratches are generated by agglomerated slurry, solidified and attached slurry in pipe line of slurry supply system. To prevent agglomerated slurry particle from inflow, we installed 0.5${\mu}m$ POU (point of use) filter, which is depth-type filter and has 80% filtering efficiency for the $1.0{\mu}m$ size particle. In this paper, we studied the relationship between defect generation and pad count to understand the exact efficiency of the slurry filtration, and to find out the appropriate pad usage. Our preliminary results showed that it is impossible to prevent defect-causing particles perfectly through the depth-type filter. Thus, we suggest that it is necessary to optimize the flow rate of slurry to overcome depth type filters weak-point, and to install the high spray of de-ionized Water (DIW) with high pressure.

In this paper, we studied generating characteristic of cymbal type piezoelectric transducer according to change of cymbal cap. The transducer is composed of circular piezoelectric ceramic and two elastic bodies which are shaped as cymbal. Two elastic bodies are attached to upper and bottom of the ceramic. Principle of the transducer is to generate expanded displacement because vertical stress is transformed into horizontal stress by slope angle of elastic bodies. The transducer also has advantage of high durability by the angle of elastic bodies. In this study, each parameter was chosen, and then generating characteristics were analyzed by FEM program. The parameters were slope angle of cymbal cap (theta), cap height (h) and cap inner diameter(d). The model that had generating characteristic Of high voltage was chosen by results of the analysis. Besides, maximum vertical displacements according to change of vertical stress were analyzed by structural analysis in order to find out relation between the maximum vertical stress which can prevent from ceramic damage and conditions of each cap.

In the case of existing ultrasonic motors, they have characteristics such as outstanding response speed, speed and high efficiency. However, it's very hard to use practically them as small motors due to complicated structure and expensive cost. This paper proposed v-type ultrasonic linear motor. Stator of the motor is composed of thin elastic body and four ceramics attached to upper and bottom areas of the body. The ceramics have each direction of polarization. When two harmonic voltages which had $90^{\circ}$ phase difference were applied to the ceramics, the symmetric and anti-symmetric displacements were generated at the tip to make the elliptical motion. To find out a model that generates maximum displacement at contact tip, FEM program was used with change of leg-angle. In addition, optimal model was chosen by considering magnitude and shape of displacement according to change of frequency.
Molten steel level information of ladle is very important for process control in steelmaking process. At secondary refining process, measuring lance and snokel have to keep constant thier depth from molten steel surfaces. But, there is much slag on the molten steel surface. Besides, not only the thickness of slag is varied with refining condition, but also molten steel level is largely affected by firebrick errosion. Then, optical measuring method and/or by human eyes cannot detect true molten steel surface, but slag surface. This slag thickness is 300mm at maximum, then huge diameter eddy current sensor will be needed if that type sensor is applied. In addition to, cooling system is necessary because the molten steel and slag temperature is high. This is not practically. To solve this problem, immersion type levelmeter is developed. This sensor is made up from primary and secondary cylindrical coils. High frequency current is applied to primary coil. Electro-motive force from secondary coil is measured, which is varied with molten steel level. This complete set is installed within stainless steel long capsule and attached to top of lance. This sensor is immersed into molten steel bath of ladle or tundish with protection of expendable paper sleeve.
