  • Hazardous area classification is designed to prevent chemical plant explosions in advance. Generally, the duration of the explosive atmosphere is used for zone type classification. Herein, IEC code, a quantitative zone type classification methodology, was used to achieve Zone 2 NE, which indicates a practical non-explosion condition. This study analyzed the operating pressure of a vessel handling propane to achieve Zone 2 NE by applying the IEC code via MATLAB. The resulting zone type and hazardous area grades were compared with the results from other design standards, namely API and EI codes. According to the IEC code, the operating pressure of vessels handling propane should be between 101325-116560.59 Pa. In contrast, the zone type classification criteria used by API and EI codes are abstract. Therefore, since these codes could interpret excessively explosive atmospheres, care is required while using them for hazardous area classification design.

  • In order to improve CO gas sensitivity, $TiO_2$added $SnO_2$ composite ceramics were prepared. Using XRD and SEM, the phases and micro structures of these ceramics were investigated. The resistances as a function of gas atmosphere were measured by High Voltage Measure/Source Unit. The maximum 100 ppm CO gas sensitivities of $SnO_2-TiO_2$composites were 2.5 times larger than that of pure $SnO_2$ composite and showed the obvious temperature dependence of sensitivities in 500, 100 ppm CO gas atmospheres.

  • Bi$_2Sr_2CaCu_2O$(Bi-2212) thick films were fabricated on Y2l1 substrate by screen printing method. And the samples were annealed in various atmospheres, respectively. Though samples had many voids, the sample annealed in N$_2$ ; O$_2$ = 1:0 atmosphere and the sample in N$_2$ : O$_2$ = 0:1 showed some Bi 2212 low phase in comparison to other samples. The thickness of Bi-2212 on Y2ll substrates was about 20 ${\mu}$m.

  • The subcritical crack growth of sintered SiC is investigated under various corrosive atmospheres such as distilled water Murakami solution and saturated KOH solution. The KI-V diagrams are obtained by the load relaxation method and incremental displacement rate method using the double torsion technique. The obtained fracture mechanics parameters (n) of sintered SiC are 79 in Murakami solution and 39 in saturated KOH solution. These data indicate that the subcritical crack growth of sintered SiC is taking place in these two conditions and the stress-corrosion cracking is suggested to be the mechanism. With these KI-V diagrams the life of sintered SiC in these conditions is predicted.

  • The effects of gas atmosphere and in-situ thermal annealing in buffet layers on the characteristic of the ZnO grown by RF magnetron sputtering have been investigated. It was shown that the introduction of buffer layers grown at the gas atmospheres of the mixed $Ar/O_2$ and the in-situ thermal treatment of the ZnO buffer layer improved the structural and optical properties. In addition, the ZnO films on the buffer layer thermal-annealed at $N_2$ gas ambience showed the strong emission of the near band gap exciton with narrow linewidth by combining the high-temperature growth of the ZnO film.

  • In order to study the impact of atmosphere during electron beam irradiation (EBI) of polyacrylonitrile (PAN) precursor fibers, the latter were stabilized by EBI in both air and oxygen atmospheres. Gel-fraction determination indicated that EBI-stabilization under an oxygen atmosphere leads to an enhanced cyclization in the PAN fibers. In the Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy analysis, the PAN fibers stabilized by EBI under an oxygen atmosphere exhibited a greater decrease in the peak intensity at 2244 cm−1 (C≡N vibration) and a greater increase in the peak intensity at 1628 cm−1 (C=N absorption) than the corresponding PAN fibers stabilized under an air atmosphere. From the X-ray diffraction analysis it was found that oxygen uptake in PAN fibers leads to an increase in the amorphous region, produced by cyclization.

  • The effect of the several variables on wetting of AISIB1113 steel by molten glass was studied by Sessible-drop method. Experimental variables were temperature, firing atmospheres, Fe2O3 addition to the sealing glass and steel surface conditions. The degree of wetting in terms of contact angles between molten glass and metal tested at different test conditions was analyzed by using Young's equation. The results showed that contact angles in H2 atmosphere in the glass metal systems were high but in N2 atmosphere, were small for studied glass metal systems. Especially, when the glass drop was in contact with oxidized steel in N2 atmosphere, The best adherence with contact angle of approximately 9°was obtained. In the case of Fe2O3 addition in glass contact angles subtantially increased due to the increase of surface tension of glass. Wetting phenomena were also discussed under the basis of these experimental results.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of restaurant atmosphere on its image and customers' emotional responses and behavior. The results of this study indicated that perceived restaurant atmospheres had a significant effect on customers' emotional responses, and these emotional responses greatly influenced the image of a restaurant. Especially, the ambient and cleanliness factors of restaurant atmosphere influenced a restaurant image, and the positive image from those factors had a significant effect on customer behavior. The design and human factors of restaurant atmosphere influenced customer behavior, and the positive image from those factors had a significant effect on customer behavior. Finally, it was verified that the restaurant atmospheric factors affected its image and customers' emotional responses and behavior. Moreover, the better the restaurant atmospheric factors(design, ambient, cleanliness, humanity) are, the better customers' emotional responses and image are, thereby increasing customers' revisiting and word-of-mouth intention.

  • I have developed a UV and visible spectroscopic database (UVSD) for atoms and molecules, which are found in interstellar medium, stars, galaxies, and in the atmospheres of the earth, planets, satellites, and comets. This UV and visible database, which is machine-readable, consists of three different sub-databases depending upon the characteristics of the sub-databases: (A) atomic and molecular line listings from laboratory observations or theoretical studies; (B) absorption spectra measured in laboratories; and (C) solar UV, visible, and infrared spectral atlases. The UVSD is in a very initial stage of development compared with other well organized and established infrared and microwave databases. In order to make a good quality and complete database, substantial efforts should be made for the acquisition of scattered important data from laboratories or institutions, and then the acquired heterogeneous data should be peer-reviewed and standardized.

  • The aim of this study is to describe the physical processes taking place in the solar photosphere. Based on 3D hydrodynamic simulations including a detailed radiation transfer scheme, we investigate thermodynamic structures and radiation fields in solar surface convection. As a starting model, the initial stratification in the outer envelope calculated using the solar calibrations in the context of the standard stellar theory. When the numerical fluid becomes thermally relaxed, the thermodynamic structure of the steady-state turbulent flow was explicitly collected. Particularly, a non-grey radiative transfer incorporating the opacity distribution function was considered in our calculations. In addition, we evaluate the classical approximations that are usually adopted in the onedimensional stellar structure models. We numerically reconfirm that radiation fields are well represented by the asymptotic characteristics of the Eddington approximation (the diffusion limit and the streaming limit). However, this classical approximation underestimates radiation energy in the shallow layers near the surface, which implies that a reliable treatment of the non-grey line opacities is crucial for the accurate description of the photospheric convection phenomenon.
