  • Using the detailed two-dimensional surface photometry of 39 galaxies, the observed profiles are decomposed into spheroid, disk and bar components simultaneously. From the analyses of decomposition parameters, the correlations among the three components are investigated to find the global property of barred galaxies. And the lens and ring components, and spiral arm patterns are also examined with Hubble type and decomposition parameters.

  • R Canis Majoris is a bright, short-period ($1^d$.1359) Algol-type eclipsing binary. For a long time, it was considered to be a low-mass binary star with $M_1=1.1M_{\odot}$ and $M_2=0.17M_{\odot}$ primary and secondary components, respectively (Tomkin, 1985). Glazunova, Yushchenko & Mkrtichian (2009) found new masses for the primary and secondary components of $M_1=1.81M_{\odot}$ and $M_2=0.23M_{\odot}$, respectively and resolved a long-standing problem with the low masses of components for this binary. Budding and Butland (2011) confirmed the results of Glazunova, Yushchenko & Mkrtichian and obtained improved orbits and masses. New spectroscopic observations of R CMa were done during 8 nights on December 2012 with the 2.4-meter telescope of the Thai National Observatory (TNO) and fibre-fed medium resolution echelle spectrograph. We obtained new, accurate orbital radial velocities of the two components of this binary system. Results of these investigations and the new orbital parameters are presented.

  • An attempt is made to find the boundary tangential components of potential magnetic fields without constructing solutions in the entire domain. In our procedure, the magnetic energy is expressed as a functional of tangential and normal magnetic fields at the boundary and is minimized by the variational principle. This paper reports a preliminary study on two dimensional potential fields above a plane.

  • We explore the metallicity distribution of the Galactic halo based on the SDSS ugriz photometry. We use empirically calibrated sets of stellar isochrones to determine distances and metallicities of individual main-sequence stars in the halo. At heliocentric distances greater than 5 kpc, we find that the in situ photometric metallicity distribution reveals chemically divided dual halo components, which supports arguments from earlier studies based on the medium resolution spectroscopy. Our finding provides an unbiased estimate of relative fractions of each of these stellar components in the Galactic halo.

  • Building a relativistic magnetohydrodynamic (RMHD) codes based on upwind schemes is a challenging project, because the characteristic wave structures for RMHDs has not yet been analytically given. We obtained an analytic expression of eigenvalues and eigenvectors of the flux Jacobian matrix of RMHDs for one-dimensional, isothermal flows with two velocity and magnetic field components (that is, x and y components only), which can be used to build numerical codes. The degeneracies were taken into account. Here, we present preliminary test results with an RMHD code based on the total variation diminishing (TVD) scheme.

  • In order to increase the completeness of the investigations of stellar abundances, we can use spectrum synthesis method, new atomic data and observation of stellar spectra with resolution comparable to solar spectral atlases. We made a brief review of main problems of these three ways. We present new results of abundance determinations in the atmospheres of four stars. The first is the implementation of new atomic data to well known Przybylski's star. We show that the number of spectral lines, which can be identificated in the spectrum of this star, can be significantly higher. The second example is the investigation of $\zeta$ Cyg. We found the abundances of 51 elements in the atmosphere of this mild barium star. The third example is halo star HD221170. Our preliminary abundance pattern consists of 42 elements. The heaviest elements in this pattern are U and Th. The last star is the spectroscopic binary HD153720. The number of elements investigated in the spectra of components of this star is not large, but the results show that the components are Am-stars.

  • Dynamics of a globular cluster (GC) is dominated by behaviors of high-mass components such as neutron stars or black holes (BHs). Massive components in a cluster are segregated into the cluster core and some of them are ejected by dynamical interactions. In this study, we perform N-body simulations of GCs adapting two BH mass components, $10M_{\odot}$ and $20M_{\odot}$. Previous studies which mostly assume single-mass BHs suggested a rapid collapsing and escaping of BHs. A cluster with a two-component BH mass spectrum, however, retains a large fraction of $10M_{\odot}$ BHs longer. In addition to their roles in cluster dynamics, massive components in binaries are one of important sources of gravitational waves (GWs). We investigate properties of BH binaries escaped from the cluster and discuss their implications for GW detection.
