경험 모드 분석법을 이용한 감쇠 진동 신호의 분석 (Analysis of Damped Vibration Signal using Empirical Mode Decomposition Method)

  • Empirical mode decomposition(EMD) method has been recently proposed to analyze non-linear and non-stationary data. This method allows the decomposition of one-dimensional signals into intrinsic mode functions(IMFs) and is used to calculate a meaningful multi-component instantaneous frequency. In this paper, it is assumed that each mode of damped vibration signal could be well separated in the form of IMF by EMD. In this case, we can have a new powerful method to calculate natural frequencies and dampings from damped vibration signal which usually has multiple modes. This proposed method has been verified by both simulation and experiment. The result by EMD method which has used only output vibration data is almost identical to the result by FRF method which has used both input and output data, thereby proving usefulness and accuracy of the proposed method.

Direct analysis of steel frames with asymmetrical semi-rigid joints

  • Semi-rigid joints have been widely studied in literature in recent decades because they affect greatly the structural response of frames. In literature, the behavior of semi-rigid joints is commonly assumed to be identical under positive and negative moments which are obviously incorrect in many cases where joint details such as bolt arrangement or placement of haunch are vertically asymmetrical. This paper evaluates two common types of steel frames with asymmetrical beam-to-column joints by Direct Analysis allowing for plasticity. A refined design method of steel frames using a proposed simple forth order curved-quartic element with an integrated joint model allowing for asymmetrical geometric joint properties is presented. Furthermore, the ultimate behavior of six types of asymmetrical end-plate connections under positive and negative moment is examined by the Finite Element Method (FEM). The FEM results are further applied to the proposed design method with the curved-quartic element for Direct Analysis of two types of steel frames under dominant gravity or wind load. The ultimate frame behavior under the two different scenarios are examined with respect to their failure modes and considerably different structural performances of the frames were observed when compared with the identical frames designed with the traditional method where symmetrical joints characteristics were assumed. The finding of this research contributes to the design of steel frames as their asymmetrical beam-to-column joints lead to different frame behavior when under positive and negative moment and this aspect should be incorporated in the design and analysis of steel frames. This consideration of asymmetrical joint behavior is recommended to be highlighted in future design codes.

용접된 보강판의 압축 최종 강도의 간이 해석법 (A Simplified Approach to the Analysis of the Ultimate Compressive Strength of Welded Stiffened Plates)

  • 본 논문에서는 주변 단순 지지된, 용접된 편면 보강판의 압축 최종 강도를 구하는 간략한 방법을 제안하고자 한다. 우선, 용접에 의한 변형 및 잔류응력과 같은 초기결함을 간략한 방법으로 추정하고, 이 초기결함이 존재하는 보강판의 붕괴 양식을 가정하여, 각 양식에 대해 최종 강도를 구하고, 여러 붕괴 하중에 때해 최소치를 택함으로 보강판의 붕괴 하중을 얻는다. 보강판이 최종 강도 상태에 달하기까지 붕괴 과정을 다음과 같이 가정한다. (1) 보강판의 전체 좌굴$\rightarrow$보강재의 굽힘에 의한 전체 붕괴 (2) 판재의 국부 좌굴$\rightarrow$판재의 국부 붕괴$\rightarrow$보강재의 전단면 항복에 의한 전체 붕괴 (3) 판재의 국부 좌굴$\rightarrow$보강재의 굽힘에 의한 전체 붕괴 (4) 판재의 국부 좌굴$\rightarrow$판재의 국부 붕괴$\rightarrow$보강재의 비틂 변형(tripping)에 의한 전체 붕괴 붕괴 하중 계산을 위해 Rayleigh-Ritz 법에 기초한 탄소성 대변형 해석을 수행하고, 소성 붕괴선을 가정한 소성 해석을 수행하여 탄성 해석선과 소성 해석선의 교점을 최종 강도로 택한다. 본 방법을 비선형 유한요소법과 비교해 보면 극히 짧은 계산 시간에 양호한 결과를 산출한다는 것을 알 수 있다. 본 방법에 의한 해석 결과를 통해 판재의 국부 거동에 미치는 보강재의 비틂 강성의 효과를 고찰하였고, 보강재의 굽힘에 의한 전체붕괴와 비틂 변형(tripping)에 의한 전체 붕괴의 기준이 되는 보강재의 형상을 제시할 수 있었다.

Exact and approximate solutions for free vibrations of continuous partial-interaction composite beams

  • An exact dynamic analytical method for free vibrations of continuous partial-interaction composite beams is proposed based on the Timoshenko beam theory. The main advantage of this method is that the independent shear deformations and rotary inertia of sub-beams are considered, which is more in line with the reality. Therefore, the accuracy of eigenfrequencies obtained by this method is significantly improved, especially for higher order modes, compared to the existing methods where the rotary angles of both sub-beams are assumed to be equal irrespective of the differences in the shear stiffness of each sub-beam. Furthermore, the solutions obtained by the proposed method are exact owing to no introduction of approximated displacement and force fields in the derivation. In addition, an exact analytical solution for the case of simply supported is obtained. Based on this, an approximate expression for the fundamental frequency of continuous partial-interaction composite beams is also proposed, which is useful for practical engineering applications. Finally, the practicability and effectiveness of the proposed method and the approximate expression are explored using numerical and experimental examples; The influence factors including the interfacial interaction, shear modulus ratio, span-to-depth ratio, and side-to-main span length ratio on the eigenfrequencies are presented and discussed in detail.

임피던스 튜브 내에 설치된 평판의 음파투과해석 (An Analysis of the Sound Transmission through a Plate Installed inside an Impedance Tube)

  • 본 논문은 단면이 정사각형인 임피던스 튜브 내에 고정된 평판의 STL(Sound Transmission Loss)을 해석적으로 구하는 방법을 다루었다. 평판의 진동과 튜브 내의 음장의 연성거동(coupled motion)을 고려하였는데 평판의 진동과 튜브 음장을 무한 급수의 합으로 전개하였으며 평면파 가정을 이용하여 처음 몇 개의 모드만 고려하여도 충분히 정확한 결과를 얻음을 보였다. 평판은 클램프(clamp) 지지로 가정하였는데 진동 모드는 단면의 가로 및 세로방향 보(beam) 진동 모드의 곱으로 전개하였고 고유진동수는 Rayleigh-Ritz 방법을 이용하여 구하였다. 평판의 STL은 가장 낮은 고유진동수에서 골(dip)을 가지며 주파수가 이보다 작아지면 STL은 커짐을 보였다. 기존 논문의 측정 및 FEM(Finite Element Method) 해석결과와 비교한 결과 잘 일치함을 확인하였다.

  • 균열진전에 관한 많은 실험결과는 피로 균열진전 과정이 확률과정(stochastic process)임을 보여주고 있다. 따라서, 피로 균열진전에 관한 연구는 확률론적 기반에서 다루어져야 한다. 본 연구에서는 균열의 진전과정을 discrete Markov process로 가정하여, Bogdanoff가 제안한 Markov chain model(MCM)을 이용하여 구조물의 신뢰도를 평가할 수 있는 방법을 제시한다. 본 연구에서는 구조부재의 파괴형태로 누출, 소성붕괴 그리고 취성파괴를 취하였으며, 초기 균열크기의 변동성, 검사의 효과 등이 고려되었다. 또한, 불규칙 하중은 등가음력의 개념을 도입하여 처리하였다. 그리고, 구조물에의 계산례를 통하여 본 연구의 유용성을 보였다.

  • 복합적층구조의 층간분리현상은 탄성좌굴하중을 감소시키며 설계값보다 낮은 수준에서 전체구조물의 파괴를 유발한다. 따라서 복합적층구조의 층간분리 현상은 매우 중요한 문제이며 많은 이론과 실험적인 연구가 진행되어왔다. 본 연구에서는 3차원 이론을 사용한 효과적인 유한요소법에 기초하여 임베디드된 사각형 층간분리 현상을 갖는 복합적층판의 탄성좌굴 거동을 분석하였다. 해석을 위해 개발된 3차원 유한요소는 EAS-SOLID8이라고 이름 붙여졌으며 강화된 대체 변형률 방법을 사용하였다. 임베디드된 사각형 층간분리를 갖는 복합적층판의 탄성좌굴거동 분석을 위해 경계조건, 폭-두께비 변화에 대하여 매개변수 해석을 수행하였다. 본 연구의 그래프와 좌굴모드는 임베디드된 사각형 층간분리를 갖는 복합적층판의 설계에 매우 유용한 자료가 될 것으로 사료된다.

Efficient Aerodynamic Computation of a Wing Model Considering Body Effect for the Aeroelastic Application

  • The typical aeroelastic analysis for a complex configuration such as a complete aircraft was done using the aerodynamic results of the wing and the structural modes of a complete aircraft; that is, the aerodynamics of a wing of a complete aircraft is assumed to be not much influenced by the body shape. Nevertheless, the body shape can cause a distortion of aerodynamic pressure on the wing surface and it is necessary to investigate the body effect in flutter analysis. In this reseasrch, MGM inverse design method is applied to include the body effect of a wing-body model which disturbs the pressure distribution on the wing surface.

  • The coupled vibration characteristics for the fluid-structure interaction systems are investigated through the finite element method. The present paper is focused on vibration characteristics of the cylindrical fluid-storage tank with a baffle. The tank is partially filled with an inviscid and irrotational fluid having a free surface. A baffle is assumed here to have the shape of a thin annular plate and a conical shell, attached to the cylindrical tank and positioned below the fluid surface. The liquid domain is limited by a rigid flat bottom. As the effect of free surface waves is taken into account in the analysis, the bulging and sloshing modes are studied. To demonstrate the validity of present results, they are compared with the published ones. The effect of positions and inner-to-outer radius ratio of annular baffle and setting angles of conical baffle on coupled vibration characteristics is investigated.

고차전단변형과 대처짐을 고려한 복합적층판의 저속충격거동 해석 (Low-Velocity Impact Response Analysis of Composite Laminates Considering Higher Order Shear Deformation and Large Deflection)

  • Low-velocity impact responses of composite laminates are investigated using the finite element method based on various theories. In two-dimensional nonlinear analysis, a displacement field considering higher order shear deformation and large deflection of the laminate is assumed and a finite element formulation is developed using a C$^{o}$-continuous 9-node plate element. Also, three-dimensional linear analysis based on the infinitesimal strain-displacement assumptions is performed using 8-node brick elements with incompatible modes. A modified Hertzian contact law is incorporated into the finite element program to evaluate the impact force. In the time integration, the Newmark constant acceleration algorithm is used in conjuction with successive iterations within each time step. Numerical results from static analysis as well as the impact response analysis are presented including impact force histories, deflections, strains in the laminate. Impact responses according to two typical low-velocity impact conditions are compared each other.
