Adsorption Characteristics of Soybean Curd Powder Prepared with Various Drying Methods during Storage (건조방법을 달리한 두부분말의 저장 중 수분흡습 특성)

  • Physical properties of soybean curd powder prepared with hot air, vacuum and freeze drying methods were investigated. Adsorption characteristics were studied under various water activities (such as 0.11, 0.33, 0.44, 0.55, 0.66, 0.75, 0.85, and 0.93) at 5℃, and prediction models were developed. Equilibrium moisture and monolayer moisture contents were the highest when freeze dried. due to the porous structure. In this result, Oswin model was the best fit for the isotherm of soybean curd. Sorption enthalpy indicated that high moisture content of powder showed lower sorption than that of low moisture content.

Preparation and Quality Characteristics of Tablet using Cheonggukjang Powder (청국장 타블렛의 제조와 품질 특성)

  • This study was carried out to develop a new product using Cheonggukjang (fermented soybean product) and sub-ingredients(lactic acid bacillus powder, chlorella, lactose, green tea). Fresh Cheonggukjang was dried by a infrared drying(50℃, 36hr) and powdered by a roll mill. The powder was mixed with sub-ingredients and then moulded as tablet type by a press moulder. The pH of tablet was low with the addition of lactobacillus and total sugar content was high with the addition of lactose. Disintegration, absorption capacity and textural properties of tablet were not affected by the addition of any sub-ingredient. Color of non-added tablet was yellow to red, but changed to green when chlorella was added. Sensory properties(color, taste, flavor, chewiness, hardness, acceptability) were not affected by the addition of sub-ingredients. The results indicate that functional healthy tablet could be made from Cheonggukjang powder and various sub-ingredients.

  • The effects of allylisothiocyanate on the biosynthesis of various fungus metabolites such as sterigmatocystin, lipid, protein, citrate RNA and AMP from the culture of Aspergillus Parasiticus R-716 were investigated. The content of sterigmatocystin, the precursor of aflatoxin, was lower in the culture added with 50ppm allylisothicoyanate after 48 hours, however was rather higher after 144 hours compared to that of the control. The addition of allylisothiocyanate resulted in the increase of lipid, protein, RNA in mycelium and the content of citrate in the media, but the amount of AMP was low.

Effect of Salting in Salt Solution Added calcium Chloride on the Fermentation of Baechu Kimchi (염화칼슘을 함유하는 소금용액에서의 절임이 김치숙성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was undertaken to examine the effect of salting in 10% salt solution added 2% calcium chloride on the kimchi fermentation. The addition of calcium chloride extended edible periods of the Kimchi to 4~5 days and increased relatively the hardness of Chinese Cabbage. In the addition of calcium chloride, the activities of amylase and $\beta$ -galactosidase were not high during all periods fermentation. Polygalacturonase and protease activities were low 2~21%, 2~26% all periods fermentation, respectively. There were significant correlations between the delay of ripeness and decreasing enzyme activation. The amount of free amino acid by the treatment with calcium chloride was decreased of 10~16% at the late of fermentation than that of control. the treatment with calcium chloride of the Kimchi was increased hardness, but decreased cohesiveness and gumminess was during all periods fermentation. the adhesiveness was increased at the early of fermentation but decreased at the late of fermentation.

  • Low spatial resolution remote sensing (RS) data (LSRD) are promising in agricultural monitoring activities due to their high temporal resolution, but under such a spatial resolution, mixing in a pixel is a common problem. In this study, a numerical experiment was conducted to explore a mixed pixel problem in agriculture using a combined RSsimulation model SWAP (Soil-Water-Atmosphere -Plant) and a Genetic Algorithm (GA) approach. Results of the experiments showed that it is highly possible to address the mixed pixel problem with LSRD.

High Occurrence of Non-Clear Cell Renal Cell Carcinoma in Oman

  • It is conventionally accepted that renal cell carcinoma (RCC) occurs in older patients and the clear cell type is the most common histology. However, ethnic variations exist and this study was carried out to determine the epidemiological pattern of RCC in Oman. Ninety RCC patients who presented to a tertiary care center in the Sultanate of Oman from 2010 to 2014 were studied. The main findings were that the median age of presentation was low, more patients presented with localized stage, and there was a higher incidence of non-clear (especially papillary) histology. Data from other Gulf countries and possible reasons for the different profile are discussed.

Absorptive Capacity Effects of Foreign Direct Investment in Selected Asian Economies

  • This study empirically examines the proposition that the domestic fundamentals of a nation can emerge as absorptive capacity factors to reap the benefits of inward FDI. The study is contextualized in Asia, set from1982 to 2017, and data is grouped into low-income and lower-middle-income economies, in comparison to high-income and upper-middle-income economies, catering to different geographical regions within Asia. The investigation is based on a series of absorptive capacity factors such as infrastructure, human capital, domestic credit, and health indicator. The methodological analysis is premised on dynamic panel structure and employs the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) estimation technique. The empirical findings suggest that that the infrastructure variable appears to be the major absorptive capacity factor for both groups of countries. The health indicator, on the other hand, can help reap the benefits of inward FDI, but only if the threshold level is met. The selected economies must achieve this threshold level to reap the benefits of FDI. To absorb the benefits of inward FDI, countries must be proactive in providing sound infrastructure and implementing proper healthcare measures.

  • Myanmar's current power situation remains severely constrained despite being richly endowed in primary energy sources. With low levels of electrification, the demand for power is not adequately met. Cooperation in energy has been a major focus of future initiative for all developed and developing nations. If we want to solve climate change, and change our energy infrastructure, we need to be innovative and entrepreneurial in energy generation. This paper will help us in examining Bayesian MCMC Analysis for the parameters estimation among the arrival rates of disaster occurrences, firm's expected income-based electricity tariffs, and estimated R&D investment expenses in new energy industry. Focusing on Japan's electric power business, we would like to search the potential for innovative initiatives in new technological energy industry for the regional development and ecological sustainability in Myanmar.

The Flexible Application of Real Options for Subcontractor in the Soft Drink Manufacturing Industry

  • In the soft drink industry, especially small and medium enterprises in Japan, there is a possibility of conversion from a labor-intensive industry to a capital-intensive. The demand for soft drinks may not be satisfied in the summer because the supply is too low to meet the demand. To address this situation, this paper proposes optimal investment that integrates demand uncertainty, based on real options approach (ROA) and seasonal autoregressive integrated moving average. Two alternative options are compared and evaluated. One is the Bermudan option: to employ additional workers to elevate efficiency in summer and laying off in winter, this attitude is repeated each year. The other is the American option: to replace equipment to increase machine ability throughout the year. Results in ROA show that the highest improvement is gained if the two options are in a symbiotic relationship. Soft drink producers should search for replacing equipment, using the employees repeatedly. A temporary decision is not equal to an infinite decision.

Success Factors of Student Startups in Korea: From Employment Measures to Market Success

  • The Korean government has focused on universities or colleges as the main targets of its startup policy since the 2010s. However, the performance is not so good, with a low survival rate. The purpose of this study is to examine the factors that underpin the success of student startups. First, through a review of the literature, this study compared the success factors of student startups with those of venture startups, which means the general startup sector, as well as youth startups, also a focus of startup policy targeting youngsters outside universities or colleges. Second, we analyzed case studies of startup companies connected University H. The literature review showed that the main target of student startups is the employment of university students. There is a lack of studies on success factors; existing studies only emphasize the entrepreneurship of students. The results of case studies showed several factors of success similar to those of general venture startups: founders, business model and resources including team, and mentoring.
