  • In this study, the specimens of cement clinker minerals such as 80C3-S-15C4AF-5C3A added various blending materials were immersed in artificial seawater. In order to ascertain the effect of SO3 and blending materials on seawater resistance of the specimens, the acceleration experiment in the artificial seawater was carried out by repeating of immersion and drying operation periodically. As inner part of the specimen immersed in artificial seawater, Friedel's salt was produced by reaction with Cl ion. In outer part of the specimen, gypsum and ettringite were mainly formed. With the increase of SO3 content in the specimen the formation of ettringite was increased and Frieldel's salt in inner part was decreased. Total pore volume of the specimens was increased according to the amount of Cl ion penetrated and Mg(OH)2 leached in the solution.

Corrosion on Steel Surfaces with Sea-Salt Deposition and Artificial Seawater Film

  • The conditions to simulate the atmospheric corrosion behavior in the laboratory were investigated to clarify atmospheric corrosion mechanism of steel material in coastal area, For airborne sea salt and artificial seawater droplet, the various behaviors were observed by optical microscope, The particle size of the dried airborne sea salt was about $20{\mu}m$, and was about 1/10 compared with the artificial seawater droplet. Though the airborne sea salt represented the same behavior as the thermodynamic water absorption, the behavior of the artificial seawater droplet deviated from the results of the thermodynamic calculation, It is concluded that the water absorption behavior is influenced by the particle size of the dried sea salt. The corrosion behaviors of carbon steels were observed under the deposited condition of airborne sea salt and artificial seawater droplet. The corrosion behaviors showed a different trend, indicating that the corrosion behavior depended on the particle size of the dried sea salt. The corrosion in the actual environrnent progressed greater than that in the chamber. Furthermore, the summer showed the greater corrosion than the spring. It is found that the corrosion behaviors are attributed to the influence of the environmental factors.

  • The artificial upwelling of deep seawater increases primary production. This study conducted a lab-scale experiment to investigate the growth of phytoplankton with the mixing ratio of deep and surface seawater. The chlorophyll content in the sample of pure deep seawater was highest, regardless of the phytoplankton groups. Nutrients contained in the deep seawater positively influenced the growth of phytoplankton. The optimum mixture to apply in an artificial upwelling system was a 1:1 ratio of deep and surface seawater. An experiment considering other environmental conditions, such as luminance and specific gravity, should be performed.

  • This study was performed for the purposes of estimating steel corrosion of concrete structures under the environment of seawater. The corrosion of steel was accelerated in artificial seawater with seven kinds of specimen which was embedded in mortar. By measuring choride content in mortar, half cell potential and corrosion area ratio, the degree of steel corrosion can be assumed.

석탄회 이용 인공제올라이트 제조시 바닷물 활용효과 (Utilization of Seawater in the Production of Artificial Zeolite from Fly Ash)

  • Sodium hydroxide concentrations were adjusted to 2.0, 2.5, 3.0 and 3.5M by dissolution in seawater. The fly ash was hydrothermally reacted with sodium hydroxide solutions (1:8, W:V) at $100^{\circ}C$ under the closed system. X-ray diffractogram proved that Na-P1 type zeolite was produced from bituminous coal fly ash. It is different from the X-ray of artificial zeolite produced by using sodium hydroxide solution dissolving in distilled water. Solid sieve structure was developed well by hydrothermal reaction with the ash and 3.0M sodium hydroxide. However chinks were observed in the structure of the product by 3.5M sodium hydroxide. CEC of the artificial zeolite was $244.5cmol^+\;kg^{-1}$ at 2.0M, 259.8 at 3.0M, 263.4 at 3.0M and 179.8 at 3.5M after 24 hours hydrothermal reaction; Artificial zeolite having high CEC, above $244.5cmol^+\;kg^{-1}$ could produce by using lower concentration of NaOH prepared in seawater than other production methods.

인공 하수 주입 및 양수에 따른 대수층의 수리학적 특성 연구 (Investigation on Hydraulic Properties According to Artificial Recharge and Extraction)

  • 지하수 과도 개발에 따라 연안 대수층에 발생하는 해수침투를 효과적으로 방지하기 위한 대책으로서 인공 하수처리수의 대수층 함양수로의 가능성을 평가하고자 sand box를 이용한 연구를 수행하였다. 또한 인공 하수처리수의 함양에 의한 해수침투 경계면의 이동 억제 및 회복능을 조사하였다. 이를 위하여, 인공 대수층 내에서 양수, 저장, 인공 하수 처리수 주입의 변화에 따른 해수/담수 경계면의 수리학적 거동 특성을 평가하였다. 주어진 실험 조건에 따른 해수/담수 경계면의 변화는 Surfer 8(Golden Software, USA)에 의하여 도시화 되었다. 해수와 담수의 경계면은 양수량의 변화에 의하여 민감하게 영향을 받았으며 양수량을 감소시키더라도 경계면의 담수대 이동 속도는 더욱 증가하였다. 그러나 함양량이 감소할 경우 오히려 경계면이 담수대로 이동하는 속도는 감소하였다. 염수의 침투는 함양과 양수가 동시에 이루어질 때보다 양수를 하지 않으면서 함양이 이루어진 경우 더욱 저지되었으며 염수의 염도는 인공 함양수에 의해 희석되어 저하되었다. 결론적으로 인공함양을 효과적으로 이용할 경우 지하 대수층의 담수 자원을 안정하게 이용하는 동시에 해수침투를 수리학적으로 방지할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

RF Magnetron Sputtering을 이용하여 제작한 불용성 촉매전극의 해수전기분해 특성 (Characterization of Seawater Electrolysis of Insoluble Catalytic Electrodes Fabricated by RF Magnetron Sputtering)

  • Insoluble catalytic electrodes were fabricated by RF magnetron sputtering of Pt on Ti substrates and the performance of seawater electrolysis was compared in these electrodes to that is DSA electrodes. The Pt-sputtered insoluble catalytic electrodes were nearly 150 nm-thick with a roughness of $0.18{\mu}m$, which is 1/660 and 1/12 of these values for the DSA (dimensionally stable anodes) electrodes. The seawater electrolysis performance levels were determined through measurements of the NaOCl concentration, which was the main reaction product after electrolysis using artificial seawater. The NaOCl concentration after 2 h of electrolysis with artificial seawater, which has 3.5% NaCl normally, at current densities of 50, 80 and 140 mA/$cm^2$ were 0.76%, 1.06%, and 2.03%, respectively. A higher current density applied through the electrodes led to higher electrolysis efficiency. The efficiency reached nearly 58% in the Pt-sputtered samples after 2 h of electrolysis. The reaction efficiency of DSA showed higher values than that of the Pt-sputtered insoluble catalytic electrodes. One plausible reason for this is the higher specific surface area of the DSA electrodes; the surface cracks of the DSAs resulted in a higher specific surface area and higher reaction sites. Upon the electrolysis process, some Mg- and Ca-hydroxides, which were minor components in the artificial seawater, were deposited onto the surface of the electrodes, resulting in an increase in the electrical resistances of the electrodes. However, the extent of the increase ranged from 4% to 7% within an electrolysis time of 720 h.

  • This paper describes an experimental study on the seawater resistance of steel fiber reinforced concrete. The test method adopted for this study may be devided into long-term immersion test and accelerated test by wetting and drying. Test were carried out to evaluate the procedure in which reduction in dynamic modulus, length change and compressive strength to nine months were measured. Resistance indicators are the water - cement ratio, the content of steel fiber, the immersion water(artificial seawater or freshwater). The conditions of intervals of immersing in artificial seawater and drying, low water-cement ratio, and non-steel fiber became most deteriorated.

시멘트 경화체의 해수침식에 의한 성능저하 및 저항성 평가 (Evaluation on the Deterioration and Resistance of Cement Matric due to Seawater Attack)

  • 국내에서 생산되는 5종류 시멘트로 제조한 시멘트 경화체의 해수침식에 대한 저항성을 알아보기 위한 목적으로 2배농도 인공 해수에 각각 400일 및 800일동안 침지시켜 모르타르의 압축강도 및 길이변화를 측정한 결과, 혼합시멘트계 모르타르가 광물질혼 화재의 영향으로 포틀랜드시멘트계 모르타르와 비교하여 좋은 결과를 나타내었다. 또한 시멘트 페이스트의 XRD분석에 의한 수 화 및 반응생성물의 피크강도비를 살펴보면, 포틀랜드시멘트계 페이스트 중 저열포틀랜드시멘트의 피크강도비가 가장 작았으며, 혼합시멘트계 페이스트의 경우 portlandite 및 brucite의 피크강도비가 포틀랜드시멘트계 페이스트보다 작았다. 인공해수 침식으 로 인한 시멘트 페이스트의 공극량을 수은압입법으로 측정한 결과에 의하면 보통포틀랜드시멘트 페이스트의 총공극량이 가장 크게 나타났으나, 포틀랜드시멘트에 고로슬래그미분말 및 플라이애시를 혼합한 혼합시멘트계 페이스트의 경우 총공극량이 각각 약 56% 및 약 32 % 정도 저감되는 효과가 있었다.

실내인공풍화가속실험을 통한 해수와 산성증류수에 대한 유천층군 화산암의 풍화 특성 연구 (Accelerated Laboratory Experiments Investigating Weathering of Volcanic Rocks from Yuchon Group Exposed to Seawater and Acidified Distilled Water)

  • 본 연구에서는 해수와 산성증류수가 암석 풍화에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위하여 실내인공풍화가속실험을 수행하였다. 70℃의 해수와 산성증류수(pH 3)를 이용하여 총 45회의 동결-융해 실험을 통하여 5종의 유천층군 화산암에 대하여 화학적·물리적 풍화를 모사하였다. 실내인공풍화가속실험 15회와 45회에 각각 물리적 물성과 일축압축강도를 측정하여 풍화 진행에 따른 물성 변화를 추적한 결과, 물리적 물성의 열화는 대부분은 초기 15회 실험에서 발현되었으며, 산성증류수가 해수보다 물리적 물성 변화에 더 많은 영향을 미치는 것으로 파악되었다. 실내인공풍화가속실험에 따른 암종별 일축압축강도의 차이를 통계적으로 평가하기 위하여 분산분석법을 사용하였다. 45회 실험 이후의 대조군에 대한 실험군 시료의 일축압축강도의 감소율은 암종과 물리적 물성 변화 추이와 상관없이 유사하게 나타났지만, 물리적 물성 변화와는 달리, 산성증류수보다 해수가 일축압축강도 변화에 더 많은 영향을 미치는 것으로 파악되었다.
