  • Surrealism, appeared in the beginning of the 20th century and affected almost all art fields, is one of the most representative art trends. Surrealism, not restricted from any rules and traditions but tried to produce a new appreciations in the world of dream and unconsciousness, also has affected fashion. In this paper, I have tried to find out how the surrealism has been expressed in the modern fashion, especially in Thierry Mugller's design. Thierry Mugler is one of the most famous designers who have expressed surrealism in their fashion designs. I have classified his designs and researched them by the application into the human body and the nature, by the metaphor and transformation of things, and by the metamorphosis of location and an optical illusion. It was based on Depaysement which is one of the ways in surrealistic expressions. The result of the study is followings; First, surrealism made fashion design possible to creat unlimitedly and sublimated it anew modern beauty by attempting the varieties of the fashion, not restricted from any rules and traditions. Second, surrealism made the general public to complete anew recognition and valuation about fashion by expressing the external character and the internal meaning on the clothes. Third, surrealism made people to recognize, which clothes is not simply wearing thing but also one of the art expression forms.

  • In literature, a description of costume represents an individual's characteristics when the object is an individual. If the literary object is a certain group in a certain region, it would play an important role in representing the culture of time. It clearly shows that aesthetic consciousness of Hyo-Suk Lee who had accepted the western dandyism was well expressed in his literary works. Hyo-Suk has been unique in describing life-styles such as beauty of costume, art-for-art's sake, and leisure activities, and color imagery in his works. The color and the style of the costume show us the mental state of the wearer. They also affect the emotional states of other people. Hyo-Suk's "Pollen(화분)" and "Byukongmuhan(벽공무한)" confirm the fact that the mentality of the people can be hinted through the description of costume. They also ascertain that the color imagery retained by a special color can be altered by different circumstances and settings. Hyo-Suk applies in his works the effect of vivid color contrast, which newly appeared in Fauvism, to the description of costume. In consequence, he reflects the color aesthetics of Modern Art in which the fine art has an effect on the applied art.

  • Fashion brands communicate with consumers through the use of fashion films that are effective in the delivery of the image. This is because digital media (such as fashion films) are popular and accessible as well as effective in attracting people's attention. The reasons why fashion films have become a new fashion media among many others is becuase they are based on an existing platform. This study will examine offline platforms of fashion film: flagship store, fashion exhibition, and fashion show. The offline platform of a fashion film is a physical space where a fashion film can be exhibited and viewed as a medium that can effectively convey fashion film to consumers. As a research method, the concept of an offline platform of fashion film is established based on a literature review of fashion films and platform that is followed by an empirical case study. The study results show that the offline platform of a fashion film is in the progress of turning into an autotelic space where the consumption of such culture as cinema and theater has become possible.

  • Fashion as a field of cultural studies is a very complex field that is very interesting to discuss, especially in Indonesia as the very rich country in cultures and past traditions. This research will discuss the development of fashion in Bali, one area that is opulent in its cultures. Based on the research conducted by today's fashion development, Bali is still strongly influenced by factors inherited from traditional values that exist in the Balinese culture. This research is conducted by applying the qualitative method with the ethnography approach to unravel any factor in Bali so that it becomes the foundation and triggers the rapid development of fashion by still maintaining the values of the tradition. Considering that the values of tradition as a whole have a good impact on the preservation of the natural balance and various factors that exist in society, whether these factors still exist in other regions of Indonesia and they are possible to be developed in various regions of Indonesia. So hopefully the development of fashion in Indonesia as a whole can maintain the local content that characterizes the Indonesian Nation and have a positive impact on the balance of nature and also to the community in Indonesia and the world culture.

The results can be summarized as follows: 1. Pastiche is an art work that borrows some parts of other artists authentic works and recombines them thus imitating their style technique or motifs selfconciously. 2. Pastiche is based onthe Deconstruction theory: the end of art as a result of deconstruction of the subject the collapse of the meaning the loss of history: the late Capitalism in which reality becomes chage into images or simulacre. 3. Pastiche represented by the death of author which means the exhaustion of creativity is shown in the fashion borrowing subculture styles and art works or religious images. Pastiche fashion which is equal to the play of signifiers floated as image is shown as graffiti and objects Time and space pastiche fashion can be explained by historical eclectism and ethnic looks, Finally pastiche means not the fixed aspect but the open concept of indeterminate condition which includes " anything goes" through the coesistence of various style in pastiche fashion.
