  • The exiting studies on the strength prediction by maturity method is mainly focused on concrete using OPC, meanwhile the study on the concrete mixing blast furnace slag powder (BFSP) is insufficient. The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships between compressive strength and equivalent age by existing Maturity functions, i.e., Nurse-saul function Arrhenius function. This study also compared and examined the strength prediction of concrete mixing BGSP using ACI model and Logistic Curve prediction equation. Therefore, it is intended that fundamental data are presented for quality management and process management of concrete mixing BFSP.

근조 근채류의 복원 특성 (Rehydration Characteristic of Dried Root Vegetables)

  • This study was attempted to establish the basic data for effective utilization of the dried radish and sweet potato. The rehydration characteristic was carried out from these dried root vegetables in various conditions. The following results were obtained. The rehydration value was increased in glycine solution, whereas It decreased in lactic acid solution. Also the vacuum freezing was higher than that in hot air drying, and it was higher the slow freezing than in the quick freezing. The rehydration rate and the rehydration surface area curve were composed of three stages, and these stages were corresponded to each other. At the range of initial immersion to 2min., the largest rehydration rate was showed. The activation energy obtained from the Arrhenius plot of the rehydration rate constant(K) were 3. Bx103ca11g mol and 3.7$\times$103cal/g mol for dried radish and sweet potato, respectively.

Drying Characteristics of Korean-type Rehmannia (Jiwhang) Noodle

  • Drying characteristics of fresh Korean-type rehmannia (jiwhang) noodle was investigated to determine drying kinetic parameters under the experimental conditions of 5 temperatures (30, 40, 60, 80, and $90^{\circ}C$). Drying curve of the noodle showed a biphasic pattern of decrease in drying rate with initial rapid drying followed by slow dehydration as the progress in drying. In all drying conditions, only falling drying rate period was observed and the drying rate of the noodle was greatly influenced by the drying temperature. The effective diffusion coefficients ($D_{eff}$) were determined by the diffusion model and their temperature dependency was determined using an Arrhenius equation. The activation energy ($E_a$) values for the drying of the noodle were 19.94 and 21.09 kJ/mol at the initial and the latter stage of dehydration, which were comparable to those of pasta or Japanese udong dehydration.

  • This paper presents the single objective design optimization of plate-fin heat sink equipped with fan cooling system using Genetic Algorithm. The proper heat sink and fan model are selected based on the previous studies. And the thermal resistance of heat sinks and fan efficiency during operation are calculated according to specific design parameters. The objective function is combination of thermal resistance and fan efficiency which have been taken to measure the performance of the heat sink. And Decision making procedure is suggested considering life time of semiconductor and Fan Operating cost. And also Analytical Model used for optimization is validated by Fluent, Ansys 13.0 and this model give a quite reasonable and reliable design.

Kinetic Features of the Cobalt Dihalide/Methylaluminoxane Catalytic System in 1,3-Butadiene Polymerization

  • The kinetic features of polymerization with an active site comprising cobalt dihalides ($CoX_2$, where X=Cl, Br, I) activated by methylaluminoxane (MAO) were investigated in 1,3-butadiene polymerization. The catalytic system exhibited the characteristic features of living polymerization. The initiation ($k_i$) and propagation ($k_p$) rate coefficients were estimated using the kinetic model for slow initiation previously reported by Shiono et al. The energy of activation fur the propagation reaction was calculated to be 27-30 $kJmol^{-1}$. The marked changes in reaction rate observed with different halides could be adequately described in terms of variations in the initiation process, with the same Arrhenius curve fitting propagation rate coeffcients estimated from all three halides, suggesting that the halide does not participate in the growing chain end.

반밀폐형 온실 내에서 탄산가스 시비에 따른 광강도와 엽온에 반응한 토마토 잎의 최대 카복실화율, 전자전달율 및 광합성율 실측값과 모델링 방정식에 의한 예측값의 비교 (Comparison of Measured and Calculated Carboxylation Rate, Electron Transfer Rate and Photosynthesis Rate Response to Different Light Intensity and Leaf Temperature in Semi-closed Greenhouse with Carbon Dioxide Fertilization for Tomato Cultivation)

  • 본 연구는 반밀폐형 토마토 재배 온실에서 광합성율 극대화를 위한 적정 탄산가스 시비 농도를 구명하고자 광합성 모델을 이용하여 잎의 최대 카복실화율(Vcmax), 최대 전자전달속도(Jmax), 열파괴, 잎 호흡 등을 계산하고 실제 측정값과 비교하였다. 다양한 광도(PAR 200µmol·m-2·s-1 to 1500µmol·m-2·s-1)와 온도(20℃ to 35℃) 조건에서 CO2 농도에 대한 A-Ci curve는 광합성 측정 기기를 사용하여 측정하였고, 모델링 방정식으로 아레니우스 함수값(Arrhenius function), 순광합성율(net CO2 assimilation, An), 열파괴(thermal breakdown), Rd(주간의 잎호흡)를 계산하였다. 엽온이 30℃ 이상으로 상승하였을 때 Jmax, An 및 thermal breakdown 예측치가 모두 감소하였고, 예측 Jmax의 가장 최고점은 엽온 30℃였으며 그 이상의 온도에서는 감소하였다. 생장점 아래 5번째 잎의 광합성율은 PAR 200-400µmol·m-2·s-1 수준에서는 CO2 600ppm, PAR 600-800µmol·m-2·s-1 수준에서는 CO2 800ppm, PAR 1000µmol·m-2·s-1 수준에서는 CO2 1000ppm, PAR 1200-1500µmol·m-2·s-1 수준에서는 CO2 1500ppm을 공급했을 때 포화점에 도달하였다. 앞으로 광합성 모델식을 활용하여 과채류 온실 재배 시 광합성을 높일 수 있는 탄산시비 농도를 추정할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

  • 아스팔트 혼합물의 동탄성계수는 시험온도 하중주파수의 조합에 따라 각각의 동탄성계수값을 평가한다. 실험에서 얻어진 각각의 동탄성계수를 하중시간과 온도중첩원리를 이용하여 마스터곡선(Master Curve)을 결정한다. 본 연구의 주목적은 마스터곡선을 만들기 위해 필요한 3개의 다른 전이함수(Shift Factor)에 -즉, Arrhenius, 2002 AASHTO Guide, Experimental method- 따른 마스터곡선의 변화정도를 평가하는 것이다. 평가를 위해 사용된 골재는 화강암이고, 아스팔트(AP-3 및 AP-5)를 이용하여 표층용 및 기층용 아스팔트 혼합물의 동탄성계수를 평가하였다. 배합설계는 Superpave Level 1 기준을 준용하였고, 다짐은 선회다짐기를 이용하였다. UTM시험기를 이용한 동탄성계수 시험은 5개의 온도(-10, 5, 20, 40, 55도) 및 5개의 하중주파수(0.05, 0.1, 1, 10, 25 Hz)를 이용하였고, 각각의 아스팔트 혼합물의 위상각 및 동탄성계수를 평가하였다. 측정된 값을 이용하여 Sigmoidal Function방정식을 만족하는 입력변수를 결정하기 위해 전이함수 및 활성에너지 (activation energy)를 결정하였다.

Dynamic Rheological Properties of Honeys at Low Temperatures as Affected by Moisture Content and Temperature

  • Dynamic rheological properties of honey samples with 3 different moisture contents (17.2, 19.0, and 21.0%) were evaluated at various low temperatures (-15, -10, -5, and $0^{\circ}C$) using a controlled stress rheometer. The honey samples displayed a liquid-like behavior, with loss modulus (G") predominating over storage modulus (G') (G">>G'), showing the high dependence on frequency ($\omega$). The magnitudes of G' and G" decreased with an increase in temperature and water content while a predominant increase of G' was noticed at $-15^{\circ}C$. The time-temperature superposition (TTS) principle was applied to bring G" values for honeys at various temperatures together into a master curve. The G" over the temperature range of -15 to $0^{\circ}C$ obeyed the Arrhenius relationship with a high determination coefficient ($R^2=0.98-0.99$). Activation energy value (Ea=112.4 kJ/mol) of honey with a moisture content of 17.2% was higher than those (Ea=98.8-101.1 kJ/mol) of other honey samples with higher moisture contents.

  • NR, NBR, and CR rubber were prepared by mixing filler in various ratios. Their vulcanization characteristics and thermal properties were studied. Vulcanization characteristics were investigated using cure curve that had been obtained from oscillating disk rheometer study. The Arrhenius law is known to describe the relationship between cure time and temperature of most elastomers. Curing could be done by the addition of sulfur, peroxides, and proper acceleratores. The optimum cure time that affects desirable values of modulus and tensile strength of the vulcanizate is taken as t90 as measured by a rheometer. Rubbers were cured in the rheometer at temperatures ranging from $130^{\circ}C\;to\;180^{\circ}C$ in order to check the validity of the curing system used. A linear relationship between ln(ts2) and ln(t90) was found for all elastomers. The term sensitivity has been used to describe the relationship between a change of ts2 to the corresponding change of t90 due to an increment of temperature. This is related to the formula of the compound.
