  • In this paper a study on the simplified observability analysis of GPS/INS is introduced. Errors for the position, velocity, attitude, gyro and accelerometer biases, and lever arm between GPS antenna and inertial sensors are considered in the observablity analysis. From the error dynamics model in which relatively small terms are neglected, simple observability conditions are obtained such that the observability of GPS/INS is determined by the test on the attutude, gyro bias, and lever arm. Unobservable errors for the position, velocity, and accelerometer bias are determined by those for the attitude, gyro bias, and lever arm. The simplified observability conditions are applied to a constant speed horizontal motion. It is shown that there are seven unobservable modes for the motion including the vertical component of gyro bias. The analytic observability analysis results are confirmed with a covariance simulation.

  • In this paper, we present an inverse kinematics of a 7-dof Anthropomorphic robot arm using conformal geometric algebra. The inverse kinematics of a 7-dof Anthropomorphic robot arm using CGA can be computed in an easy way. The geometrically intuitive operations of CGA make it easy to compute the joint angles of a 7-dof Anthropomorphic robot arm which need to be set in order for the robot to reach its goal or the positions of a redundant robot arm's end-effector. In order to choose the best solution of the elbow position at an inverse kinematics, optimization techniques have been proposed to minimize an objective function while satisfying the euler-lagrange equation.

  • In this paper, a motion control algorithm is developed using a fuzzy control and the optimization of performance function, which makes a robot arm avoid an unexpected obstacle when the end-effector of the robot arm is moving to the goal position. During the motion, if there exists no obstacle, the end-effector of the robot arm moves along the pre-defined path. But if there exists an obstacle and close to the robot arm, the fuzzy motion controller is activated to adjust the path of the end-effector of the robot arm. Then, the robot arm takes the optimal posture for collision avoidance with the obstacle. To show the feasibility of the developed algorithm, numerical simulations are carried out with changing both the positions and sizes of obstacles. It was concluded ...

  • This parer is a study on the inverse dynamics of a one-link flexible robot arm which is controlled by translational base motion. The system is composed of a flexible arm, a base for driving arm, a DC servomotor, and a computer. The arm base is moved so that the arm tip follows a desired function. The governing equations are based on the Bernoullie-Euler beam theory and solved by applying the Laplace transform method and then the numerical inversion method. Moter voltage is obtained by simulation for tip trajectory functions i. e. Bang-Bang, Cosine and Gauss Function. And, the tip motion is measured while simulation results are applying. Then the results are investigated to select most proper input and to compare their chateristics. Experimental results show the Cosine function is most proper with respect to low maximum voltage and steady state error.

  • This paper describes the tip displacement of a flexible miniature arm controlled by the piezoelectric bimorph cells cemented on the surface of the arm. The arm is driven by the torques generated by the cells, and the endpoiht of the arm is controlled so that it moves in synchrony with the fluctuation of the target and maintains a constant distance to the surface of the traget. The voltage applied to the cells is controlled by a feedback signal composed of the tip displacement and the velocity. A theoretical solution is obtained by considering the cell-arm system as a stepped beam and applying time-discrete method to the governing equations of the system. The results are good agreement for a wide range of physical paramehers involved.

  • This paper presents a hybrid actuator scheme to actively control the end-point position and vibration of a two-link flexible robot arm. Control scheme consists of four different actuators; two servo-motors at the hubs and two piezoceramics bonded to the surfaces of the flexible links. Two sliding hyperplanes are designed for two servo-motors which have time varying parameters to maintain control performance in any configuration. The surface gradients of the hyperplanes are determined by pole assignment technique to guarantee the stability on the hyperplanes themselves. During the motion, undesirable oscillations caused by the torques based on the rigid link dynamics are actively suppressed by applying feedback control voltages to the piezoceramic actuators. Consequently, desired tip motion is achieved. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology, experiments are performed for the regulating and tracking control problems.

  • This paper represents the control software development for Direct Drive Arm Robot with the WHILE language composed the 68000 assembly language and high level language modula-2. Direct Drive Ann Robot needs the control program which is fast step and exactly position moving because Direct Drive Arm Robt depends on accuracy. We found that the self-tuning algorithm for this robot control is very good for the real time control and the floating point operation using the 32 bit CPU(MC 68020) controller.

  • Alight-weight robot arm carrying a payload is modelled as a cantilever beam with a tip mass subjected to a high speed rotation. Equations of Motion, for modal control, are represented as discrete state variable form. Digital optimal control law with observer is developed to suppress the arm vibration and control the position of the joint angle. The effects of the number of controlled modes, weighting factors of the performance index, reference rotation time, and sampling time on the control performance are analyzed by computer simulation and experiments.

  • A master-slave system is proposed as a teaching device for a dual arm robot. The slave robots are remotely controlled by two delta-type master arms. In order to help the operator to observe the target object from the desired position and desired direction, cameras are mounted on a specialized manipulator, Movements of two slave arms are coordinated with that of the cameras. Due to this coordinated movements, the operator needs not to care the geometrical relation between the cameras and the slave robots.
