In this paper a hierarchical stereo matching algorithm to obtain the disparity in wavelet transformed domain by using locally adaptive window and weights is proposed. The pyramidal structure obtained by wavelet transform is used to solve the loss of information which the conventional Gaussian or Laplacian pyramid have. The wavelet transformed images are decomposed into the blurred image the horizontal edges the vertical edges and the diagonal edges. The similarity between each wavelet channel of left and right image determines the relative importance of each primitive and make the algorithm perform the area-based and feature-based matching adaptively. The wavelet transform can extract the features that have the dense resolution as well as can avoid the duplication or loss of information. Meanwhile the variable window that needs to obtain precise and stable estimation of correspondense is decided adaptively from the disparities estimated in coarse resolution and LL(low-low) channel of wavelet transformed stereo image. Also a new relaxation algorithm that can reduce the false match without the blurring of the disparity edge is proposed. The experimental results for various images show that the proposed algorithm has good perfpormance even if the images used in experiments have the unfavorable conditions.

Additional high resolution satellite images, other period or site, are essential for efficient city modeling and analysis. However, the same ground objects have a radiometric inconsistency in different satellite images and it debase the quality of image processing and analysis. Moreover, in an urban area, buildings, trees, bridges, and other artificial objects cause shadow effects, which lower the performance of relative radiometric normalization. Therefore, in this study, we exclude shadow areas and suggest the selective histogram matching methods for image based application without supplementary digital elevation model or geometric informations of sun and sensor. We extract the shadow objects first using adjacency informations with the building edge buffer and spatial and spectral attributes derived from the image segmentation. And, Outlier objects like a asphalt roads are removed. Finally, selective histogram matching is performed from the shadow masked multi-temporal Quickbird-2 images.
Medical tomography images like CT, MRI, PET, SPECT, fMRI, ett have been widely used for diagnosis and treatment of a patient and for clinical study in hospital. In many cases, tomography images are scanned in several different modalities or with time intervals for a single subject for extracting complementary information and comparing one another. 3D image registration is mapping two sets of images for comparison onto common 3D coordinate space, and may be categorized to marker -based matching and feature-based matching. 3D registration of brain images has an important role for visual and quantitative analysis in localization of treatment area of a brain, brain functional research, brain mapping research, and so on. In this article, marker-based and feature-based matching methods which are often used are introduced.
On today, human is going to develop machine by using mutual communication to machine. Including vision - based HCI(Human Computer Interaction), the technique which to recognize finger and to track finger is important in HCI systems, in HCI systems. In order to divide finger, this paper uses more effectively dividing the technique using subtraction which is separation of background and foreground, as well as to divide finger from limited background and cluttered background. In order to divide finger, the finger is recognized to make "Template-Matching" by identified fingertip images. And, identified gestures be compared the tracked gesture after tracking recognized finger. In this paper, after obtaining interest area, not only using subtraction image and template-matching but to perform template-matching in the area. So, emphasis is placed on decreasing perform speed and reaction speed, and we propose technique which is more effectively recognizing gestures.

Automatic change detection based on the vector-to-raster comparison is hard especially in high-resolution image. This paper proposes a method to designate roads in high-resolution image in sequential manner using the information from vector map in which Hough transform is used for reliability. By its linearity, the road of urban areas in a vector map can be easily parameterized. Following some pre-processing to remove undesirable objects, we obtain the edge map of raster image. Then the edge map is transformed to a parameter space to find the selected road from vector map. The comparison is done in the parameter space to find the best matching. The set of parameters of a road from vector map is treated as the constraints to do matching. After designating the road, we may overlay it on the raster image for precise monitoring. The results can be used for detection of changes in road object in a semi-automatic fashion.

This paper presents a high performance disparity extraction algorithm that generate a dense and accurate disparity map using low-resolution disparity histogram. Disparity distribution of background and object areas can besegmented from low-resolution disparity histogram. These information can be used to reduce the search area and search range of the high-resolution image resulting reliable disparity information in high speed. The computationally efficient matching pixel count(MPC) similarity measure technique is useed extensively toremove the redundancies inherent in the area-based matching method, and also results robust matching at the boundary region. Resulting maches are further improved using iterative support algorithm and post processing. We have obtained good results on randomdot stereogram and real images obtained in our carmera system.
In this paper, we proposed a river water level detection and tracking of the river or dams based on image processing system. In past, most of the water level detection system used various water sensors. Those water sensors works perfectly but have many drawbacks such as high cost and harsh weather. Water level monitoring system helps in forecasting early river disasters and maintenance of the water body area. However, the early river disaster warning system introduces many conflicting requirements. Surveillance camera based water level detection system depends on either the area of interest from the water body or on optical flow algorithm. This proposed system is focused on water scaling area of a river or dam to detect water level. After the detection of scale area from water body, the proposed algorithm will immediately focus on the digits available on that area. Using the numbers on the scale, water level of the river is predicted. This proposed system is successfully tested on different water bodies to detect the water level area and predicted the water level.

The detection of free spaces between obstacles in a scene is a prerequisite for navigation of a mobile robot. Especially for stereo vision-based navigation, the problem of correspondence between two images is well known to be of crucial importance. This paper describes multi-range approach of area-based stereo matching for grid mapping and visual navigation in uncertain environment. Camera calibration parameters are optimized by evolutionary algorithm for successful stereo matching. To obtain reliable disparity information from both images, stereo images are to be decomposed into three pairs of images with different resolution based on measurement of disparities. The advantage of multi-range approach is that we can get more reliable disparity in each defined range because disparities from high resolution image are used for farther object a while disparities from low resolution images are used for close objects. The reliable disparity map is combined through post-processing for rejecting incorrect disparity information from each disparity map. The real distance from a disparity image is converted into an occupancy grid representation of a mobile robot. We have investigated the possibility of multi-range approach for the detection of obstacles and visual mapping through various experiments.
In this paper, we present an algorithm of real time facial expression and gesture recognition for image sequence on the gray level. A mixture algorithm of a template matching and knowledge based geometrical consideration of a face were adapted to locate the face area in input image. And optical flow method applied on the area to recognize facial expressions. Also, we suggest hand area detection algorithm form a background image by analyzing entropy in an image. With modified hand area detection algorithm, it was possible to recognize hand gestures from it. As a results, the experiments showed that the suggested algorithm was good at recognizing one's facial expression and hand gesture by detecting a dominant motion area on images without getting any limits from the background image.

Due to sharp depth transition, big holes may be found in the novel view that is synthesized by depth-image-based rendering (DIBR). A hole-filling method based on disparity map is proposed. One important aspect of the method is that the disparity map of destination image is used for hole-filling, instead of the depth image of reference image. Firstly, the big hole detection based on disparity map is conducted, and the start point and the end point of the hole are recorded. Then foreground pixels and background pixels are distinguished for hole-dilating according to disparity map, so that areas with matching errors can be determined and eliminated. In addition, parallaxes of pixels in the area with holes and matching errors are changed to new values. Finally, holes are filled with background pixels from reference image according to these new parallaxes. Experimental results show that the quality of the new view after hole-filling is quite well; and geometric distortions are avoided in destination image, in contrast to the virtual view generated by depth-smoothing methods and image inpainting methods. Moreover, this method is easy for hardware implementation.
