  • In this paper, we described the software development for verifying the integrity of output data of TCP/IP for VLBI Correlation Subsystem (VCS) correlation block and proposed the performance improvement method in order to prevent the data loss of correlation output. The VCS correlation results are saved at the Data Archive system through TCP/IP packet transmission. In this paper, the integrity verification software is developed so as to confirm the integrity of correlation result saved at the data archive system using TCP/IP packet information of VCS. The 3-step integrity verification process is proposed by using the developed software, its effectiveness was confirmed in consequence of correlation experiments. In addition, TCP/IP packet transmission must be completed within minimum integration period. However, there is not only TCP/IP packet loss occurred but also the problem of correlation result integrity affected in account of a large quantity of packets and data during short integration time. In this paper, the reason of TCP/IP packet loss is analyzed and the modified methods for FPGA(Field Programmable Gate Array) of VCS are proposed, the integrity problem of correlation results will be solved.

  • In order to build a news archive system. the news video stream should be first segmented into several articles, ad their contents are abstracted effectively. This abstraction helps the users to understand the contents of the article without playing the whole video stream. This paper proposes a new article boundary detection scheme for the news video streams together with a new news article abstraction scheme using the shot types of the news video data. The shots in the news video are classified into anchor person shots, interview shots, speech shots, reporting shots, graphic shots, and others. Since the news article starts with an anchor shot whose duration is relatively longer than other shots with special screen structure, the article boundary in detected by the computing the length of the shot and checking the screen structure in the proposed scheme. For the effective abstraction of the article video, the graphic image located in the right-top of the anchor shot frames is primarily used in the proposed abstraction scheme since it is the abstraction of the article made by the producer of the news according to its contents so that it contains a lot of meaningful information. The key frames of the other shots except interview and report shots are also used to abstract the contents of the articles in the proposed scheme. Upon experimental results, the precision and recall values of the proposed article boundary detection scheme could be 92% and 96%, respectively. This paper also presents a design and implementation of a prototype news archive system on WWW that consists of an indexing tool, an authoring tool, a database for meta-data of the news, and a browsing tool.

The first objective of this study is to increase the accessibility of general public through the development of online museum programs as service contents and to present the ultimate direction the development of in art appreciation contents that can effectively expand the infrastructure of culture and art. Second, the effectiveness of online art appreciation programs by registered private museums, which continuously develop smart media-based online museum contents and systemization of archive as the distribution rate of smart devices is increased due to generalization of digital environments, was analyzed by each case to examine the objective distinctions strategies. Third, in terms of museum visitors and smart contents users, this study examines the expected effects of popular distribution by seeking various ways that can enhance the desired exhibit appreciation and autonomous utilization of educational programs, while not being restricted by the physical accessibility and limitation of space at the museums. The subjects of this study included cases of BoroomSan Museum, Savina Museum of Contemporary Art, Imageroot, Sangwon Museum of Art, Hello Museum, etc. and the online smarts contents art appreciation educational programs by registered private museums were analyzed. Results expected to achieve from such processes are as follows. First, the possibility to expand cultural participation in museum exhibition appreciation and museum education infrastructure became widen. Second, the educational program resources can be utilized as the culture and art asset that strengthens the museums' responsibilities in their social role. Third, museum archive can be constructed in more systematic way, and the efficiency of museum archive system can be enhanced to maintain the museum collection database in a consistent format. Fourth, the museum's smart contents users' continued access to museum's online contents may induce the exhibition effect of the site and voluntary participation in education, and can also expect an economic synergy effect as the users become potential visitors that may actually visit the museum in the future.

  • This article introduces the case of archival management of the War and Women's Human Rights Museum. The War and Women's Human Rights is a nongovernment organization (NGO) focusing on the welfare of the Korean women who survived the Japanese military sexual slavery and is operated by a small museum. On the surface, the institution is registered and operated as a museum; however, as the parent institution's actual work and collection records were transferred and managed, archival management functions account for a large portion of the museum's work. In this study, the museum archivist and the collection archives' characteristics and roles were introduced. As the differences and specialization between general museums and records management institutions are seen through the collection types, the advantages of a museum for archive management were discussed, and a system for records management institutions to move toward cultural institutions was proposed. Furthermore, the record management problems and their impacts on record management in response to the organization's recent crisis, and its future vision and plans were introduced.

  • Recently, there have been a lot of researches to develop an archive system for news videos that usually has a fixed structure. However, since the meta-data representation and storing schemes for news video are different from each other in the previously proposed archive systems, it was very hard to exchange these meta-data. This paper proposes a scheme for news video based on MPEG-7 MDS that is an international standard to represent the contents of multimedia, and a summarization mechanism reflecting the characteristics of shots in the news videos. The proposed scheme for news video uses the MPEG-7 MDS schemes such as VideoSegment and TextAnnotation to keep the original structure of news video, and the proposed summarization mechanism uses a slide-show style presentation of key frames with associated audio to reduce the data size of the summary video.

  • The integrated management of community archives, which is conducted by incorporating them into the category of library data through the system of library materials management is more necessary for residents to use community archives by arranging and preserving them collected by public libraries, than management implemented through a separate system. This study therefore draw25 descriptive factors by comparatively analyzing descriptive factors of the descriptive standards for community archives such as ISAD(G) and DC, etc. and integrating common or similar ones. Such 25 drawn descriptive factors were empirically tested three times by professionals through the Delphi technique, and 3 descriptive sectors and 21 descriptive factors were finally drawn. The drawn descriptive factors were divided into mandatory, mandatory if applicable and optional through KORMARC-integrated format for bibliographic data and mapping and applied to the system of library materials management, by adjusting the descriptive factors for the systems.

  • A necessity increases but since a many manpower and the budgets are insufficient for archiving all digital resources the digital archiving at the science information center or the digital library has to be successively processed according to the priority. Therefore, in this research, whether it has to archive among digital resources which Korea Institute Science and Technology Information(KISTI) hold around any kind of contents or not makes analysis and valuation around the value for use. The priority evaluation plan that can become the system analysis and reflection based on this automatically tries to be proposed.

  • Classical novae (CNe) are interacting binary systems whose outbursts are powered by a thermonuclear runaway in accreted material onto the surface of a white dwarf (WD). The secondary star in such systems fills its Roche lobe and material is transferred onto the WD primary star via an accretion disk. Recurrent novae (RNe) show many similarities to CNe, but have had more than one recorded outburst. RNe play an important role as one of the suspected progenitor systems of Type Ia supernovae, which are used as primary distance indicators in cosmology. Thus, it is important to investigate the nature of their central binary systems to determine the relation between the parameters of the central system and the outburst type, and finally ascertain the population of novae that might be available to give rise to the progenitors of Type Ia SNe. A low outburst amplitude is adopted as a criterion that may help distinguish RNe from CNe and was therefore used to select targets for observations from ground-based observatories including the Liverpool Telescope and the Southern African Large Telescope as well as the full-sky space-based archive of the Solar Mass Ejection Imager (SMEI). We found that at least four objects currently classified as CNe are possibly RNe candidates based on their quiescent spectra. We also searched the SMEI archive for additional outbursts of bright CNe that might otherwise have been missed but did not find a conclusive example.
