This study is to get the proper evaluation of the residual property of reinforced concrete beam exposed to fire. This study focused on the strength resistance and analytical evaluation of RC members exposed high temperature. And this study is the basis analytical research to conduct the other studies. To analysis by the finite element method, the Total-RC program was used to analysis it and the Total-Temp program was also used to analysis the temperature distributions at the section. All of results were compared with the pre-existing experimental data of simple supported beam. Using it, the parameters influencing the structural capacity of the high temperature-damaged RC members and residual strength estimation are investigated. The temperature distribution and the structural capacity at the section are calculated in this step. An application of this method is compared with the heating test result and residual property test for simple supported beam which is subjected to ISO 834 test fire. The results of this study are as follows; 1) The loads-displacement relationship of RC beam, considering initial thermal stress of cross section and heat transfer analysis are estimated comparing analytical value with pre-existing experimental results. 2) by the heating time (0, 1, 2 hours), the results of analysis with parameters show that the load capacity exposing at fire is affected.

In this study, In order to apply the U-flanged truss hybrid beam to the actual construction site, the structural design of the basic module of the middle and low-rise neighborhood living facilities was performed according to the Korea Design Standard, and the construction cost and construction period were compared with the traditional reinforced concrete structure system. As a result of analyzing the construction cost for the basic module, if the U-flanged truss hybrid beam and D-Deck slab system are used, the construction cost can be reduced by 86% compared to the traditional reinforced concrete structure system. In addition, as a result of analyzing the construction period for a floor area of 1,000m2, using the U-flanged truss hybrid beam and D-Deck slab system can save 2.0days in construction period compared to the traditional reinforced concrete structure system. Therefore, the U-flange truss hybrid beam can secure sufficient economic feasibility compared to the existing reinforced concrete method in terms of cost reduction and shortening of construction period.

Fast-built construction is a key feature for successful applications of precast concrete (PC) moment frame system in recent construction practices. To this end, by introducing some unique splicing details in precast connections, especially between PC columns including panel zones, use of temporary supports and bracings can be minimized based on their self-sustaining nature. In addition, precast wide beams are commonly adopted for better economic feasibility. In this study, three self-sustaining precast concrete (PC) wide beam-column connection specimens were fabricated and tested under reversed cyclic loadings, and their seismic performances were quantitatively evaluated in terms of strength, ductility, failure modes, energy dissipation and stiffness degradation. Test results were compared with ASCE 41-17 nonlinear modeling curves and its corresponding acceptance criteria. On this basis, an improved macro modeling method was explored for a more accurate simulation. It appeared that all the test specimens fully satisfy the acceptance criteria, but the implicit joint model recommended in ASCE 41-17 tends to underestimate the joint shear stiffness of PC wide beam-column connection. While, the explicit joint model along with concentrated plastic hinge modeling technique is able to present better accuracy in simulating the cyclic responses of PC wide beam-column connections.
In reinforced concrete design, structural member sizes and amount of reinforcing steel areas are usually selected based on the structural designers' experience. Most existing charts provided for the design of reinforced concrete structural members were developed mainly based on force equilibrium conditions and some serviceability criteria. Sections selected from these charts may not result in an economic solution in terms of material costs as well as construction costs. Practical design aids are developed and suggested in this study for the economical design of reinforced concrete beam under flexural loading. With the beam width fixed, the depth of a beam, positive steel areas and negative steel areas are found from Khun-Tucker necessary conditions with Lagrangian multipliers to minimize the sectional cost of a beam. The developed design aids might be useful in selecting optimum reinforced concrete beam sections. Theoretical derivations and use of the developed design aids are described in this paper.

This paper presents experimental and numerical studies of seismic performance on reinforced concrete (RC) wide beam (WB) joints. Two RC-WB joint specimens and one conventional RC joint specimen were fabricated using the reinforcing details of longitudinal reinforcing bars in a beam as a variable, and quasi-static cyclic loading tests were performed. The results were used to compare and analyze the load-drift ratio relationship, failure mode, and seismic performance of the specimens quantitatively. In addition, a finite element (FE) analysis of the RC-WB joint was conducted, and the rationality of the FE model was validated by comparing it with the test results. Based on the FE model, a parametric study was conducted, where the ratio of longitudinal reinforcing bars placed on the outer and inner parts of the joint (𝜌ex/𝜌in) was a key variable. The results showed that, in the RC-WB joint, an increase of 𝜌ex/𝜌in leads to more severe damage to concrete, which reduces the seismic performance of the RC-WB joints.
An experimental study was performed to evaluate the seismic performance of beam-column connections using 600 MPa re-bars for beam flexural reinforcement. Three full scale specimens of interior beam-column connection and two specimens of exterior beam-column connection were tested under cyclic loading. The specimens were designed to satisfy the requirements of Special Moment Frame according to current design code. The structural performance of the specimens with 600 MPa re-bar were compared with that of the specimen with 400 MPa re-bars. The test results showed that bond-slip increased in the beam-column joint. However, the load-carrying capacity, deformation capacity, and energy dissipation capacity of the specimens with 600 MPa re-bar were comparable to those of the specimens with 400 MPa re-bars.

A beam splice method using inclined end-plates and high-strength tension bolts was developed. The end-plates welded to a bracket and a spliced beam are connected each other by using the tension bolts. In the present study, six exterior beam-to-column moment connections were tested under cyclic loading. Test parameters were the end-plate details and bolt arrangements. All specimens were designed so that moment resistances of the end-plates and bolts were greater than the required moment at the beam splice, in accordance with the design methods of AISC Design Guide 4. Test results showed that in the beam splices with the extended end-plates, the beam moment successfully transferred to the bracket, without any defeats such as excessive prying action of the end plates and brittle failure at the end plate-to-beam flange weld joints. However, the deformation capacities of the overall beam-to-column connections were limited due to the brittle failure of the beam-to-column flange weld joints. From the test results, recommendations for seismic design and detailing of the beam-to-column moment connection with inclined end-plate beam splice were given.
This study aims to verify a method for accurately estimating the sizes of the column, slab, and beam members of concrete structures using the impact echo method, which is a nondestructive testing method. The concrete specimens are designed and fabricated with six single-layer frame specimens composed of columns, slabs, and beam members based on three strengths of 24, 30, and 40 MPa. To estimate the sizes of the members according to the member types of concrete structures, the experiment was performed using the impact echo method. As a result of estimating the sizes of the concrete column members using the impact echo method, the error rate is 2.9%. As a result of estimating the depth of the concrete beam members, the error rate is 9.7%. And, as a result of estimating the thickness of the concrete slab members, the error rate is 2.4%. These results confirmed that quality control of the members of concrete structures is possible by estimating their sizes using a non-destructive testing method.

SLIM AU(A plus U-shaped) composite beam had been developed for not only reducing the story height in residential and commercial building, but also saving the cost of floor construction. The structural performance and economic feasibility was sufficiently approved by means of structural experiments and analytical studies. Even though fire resistance of the SLIM AU composite beam was evaluated throughout furnace fire test, the fire performance of the composite beam using finite element analysis is not analysed yet. Therefore the predictions of fire resistance simulations with loading as well as temperature distribution of the composite beam are summarized in this paper.
Recently, there is a great demand for precast reinforced concrete (RC) construction methods on the purpose of simplicity in construction. Nishimatsu Construction Company has developed a construction method with precast reinforced concrete members in medium-rise building. In this construction method, how to joint precast members, especially the anchorage of the main bar of beam, is important problem. In this study, the structural performance of exterior joints with precast members was investigated. The parameters of the test specimens are anchorage type of the main bar of beam (U-shape anchorage or anchorage plate) and the ratio of the column axial force to the column strength. Specimens J-3 and J-4 used U-shape anchorage and the ratio of the column axial force of specimen J-4 was higher. On the other hand, specimens J-5 and J-6 used anchorage plate, and the anchorage lengths are 15d and 18d, respectively. Experimental results are summarized as follows; 1) For the joints with beam flexural failure mode, it was found that the maximum strength of specimen with anchorage plate is equal to or larger than that of specimen with conventional U-shaped anchorage if the anchorage length of more than 15d would be ensured, 2) Each specimen shows stable hysteretic curves and there were no notable effects on the hysteretic characteristics and the maximum strength caused by the anchorage method of beam main bar and the difference of column axial stress level.
