In order to determine the wear properties of AIP (Arc Ion Plating) deposition, wear process was evaluated by using a Falex test machine. Also, in order to determine the effects of coating material on the wear process, TiC, TiN, and TiCN coatings of thickness about 5 $\mu\textrm{m}$∼6 $\mu\textrm{m}$ coated by Arc ion plating deposition method were tested. The wear property was determined under a dry sliding condition as a function of the applied load, sliding distance, sliding velocity and temperature. The results show that when wear of the coating-layer occurred, specific wear amount increased with the wear rate. At initial state, the wear rate rapidly increased, but it gradually reduced as the velocity increased. Also, when raising the temperature, the wear rate increased in the order of TiCN, TiN and TiC due to the frictional heat.
This paper is concerned with the kinematic analysis of several linkage drives for mechanical presses. Load and velocity characteristics of conventional presses are illustrated and a design of new drive for a mechanical press is represented. In this regard, a crank-slider mechanism with arc crank-pin guide is introduced and compared with other linkage drives. Kinematic performances are analyzed in respect of load capacity, slide velocity characteristics using a developed SS-Plot program. The new linkage drive turns out to be effective in terms of load and velocity characteristics, and productivity.

$CO_2$ emission has been gradually increased due to rising fossil fuel use. A gliding arc plasma scrubber (GAPS) was proposed to destruct $CO_2$. For optimum design of GAPS, a CFD analysis has been conducted in different configuration for the system. The parameters considered included gas injection velocity at the nozzle and gas flow rate to gap between electrodes. The reactor configuration affected velocity fields which caused changes in the mixture fraction and the retention time. The mixing effect of $CO_2$ and supplied gas ($CH_4$ and steam) was enhanced by installing a orifice baffle. This revealed that the orifice baffle is effective in $CO_2$ conversion by positioning the reactants in the gas into the center of plasma discharge.

A crank-slider mechanism is driven by the rotating disk with are crank-pin guide to be applied to the deep drawing and cold forging presses. Load characteristics for different presses are summarized to see the basics of deep drawing of sheet metal and forging in terms of load-stroke relationship. Several types of conventional deep drawing presses are also shown to be compared with the ratating disk-types press. Kinematic performances by thearc guide driving mechanism are anlayzed in terms of load capaicty, stroke, and slide velocity characteristics, and they are compared with those by conventional driving , e.g. Niagara-typepress and so on. Kinematically better performances is shown by arc guide drive than those by conventional ones. The new driving mechanism is also proven to be one of the best for mass production press in terms of short cycle time. Possible applications of the arc guide press to deep drawing and cold forging work are in terms of kinematics and load capacity.

The disk cam mechanism can produce a positive motion with relatively few components. This paper introduce a shape design of cam using the relative velocity method and a precision machining technology for using Bi-arc method. The paper gives a machining information at each point using the Bi-arc method and the analysis method of the cutting error due to the moving path of the cutter, so that we can lead to the optimum design in a disk cam mechanism.

This study is to develop a system of electric power generation utilizing the wind resources available in the domestic wind environment. We tested drag-type vortical wind turbine models, which have two different types of blades: a flat plate and circular arc shape. Through a performance test, conditions of maximum rotational speed were found by measuring the rpm of wind turbine. The rotational speed was measured by a tachometer in a wind tunnel and the tunnel wind speed was by using a pilot-static tube and a micro manometer. The performance test for a prototype was accomplished by calculating power, power coefficient, torque coefficient from the measurement of torque and rpm by a dynamometer controller From the measurements for miniature turbine models with two different blades, the circular arc shape was found to Produce a maximum rotational speed for the same wind velocity condition. Based on this result, the prototype with the circular arc blade was made and tested. We found that it produces 500W at the wind velocity of 10.8 m/s and the power coefficient was 20%.
A counter gear transmits the rotation angle, so the angular velocity ratio of the gear does not necessarily need to be constant in the meshing process. As a pinion has a small number of teeth when combined with an internal gear for counters, tooth interference can occur with the use of an involute curve. This paper introduces circular arcs that represent a tooth profile and fillet for the profile design of a pinion through the combination of arcs with lines. The straight line of a rack tooth represents the profile of a mating internal gear. Thus, the circular arc and line maintain contact during the rotation of the counter gear. This paper presents an analysis of the meshing of the circular arc tooth and rack tooth along with the properties of the counter gear, such as the change in rotational velocity and amount of backlash. The contact ratio of the counter gear is 1 because the tooth contact occurs between circular arcs and line. The initial position of tooth contact, which denotes the simultaneous contact of two teeth, is found. As the rotation of the pinion, only one tooth keeps the contact situation. This meshing property is analyzed by the geometrical constraints of the tooth profile in contact and the results are presented as graphical diagrams in which tooth-arc movements are superimposed.

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effect of arc current and contact velocity on the erosion of silver-based contact materials to be used in low voltage circuit breakers. The opening velocity during breaking, which is constant, ranges between 2m/s to 6m/s in the 415V $25kA_{rms}$. Contact erosion is evaluated by measuring the mass change of the cathode and anode. The results show that the increase in opening velocity from 2m/s to 6m/s leads to a decrease in the contact erosion. It is shown that the material transfer from one electrode to another depends on the transfer charge and the opening velocity of the contacts. The contact pairs of AgWC/AgCdO are superior to $AgWC/AgSnO_2In_2O_3$ or AgWC/AgC contact pairs in the contact erosion.
This paper presents a mathematical model predicting the temperature distribution in rotating GMA welding. The bead width increases with rotation frequency at the same rotation diameter because the molten droplets are deflected by centrifugal force. The numerical solution is obtained by solving the transient three-dimensional heat conduction equation considering the heat input from the welding arc, cathode heating and molten droplets. Generally in GMA welding the heat input may be assumed as a normally distributed source, but the droplet deflection causes some changes in the heat input distribution. To estimate the heat flux distribution due to the molten droplet, the contact point where the droplet is transferred on the weld pool surface is calculated from the flight trajectory of the droplets under the arc plasma velocity field obtained from the arc plasma analysis. The numerical analysis shows a tendency of broadened bead width and shallow penetration depth with the increase of rotating frequency. The simulation results are in good agreement with those obtained by the experiments under various welding conditions.

This study explores the numerical analysis method of fluid dynamics in the reaction section to improve the gas processing efficiency in the hazardous gas removal by atmospheric thermal plasma. This study also intends to contribute in technology advance to improve the processing efficiency and make the process more stable. Numerical analysis of temperature distribution in the reaction section dependent on the change in flow velocity of Ar and plasma temperature change, which are major control variables in the cracking process of HFC-23 using arc plasma, was done. The characteristic of incoming oxygen by temperature suggested that when temperature increased to 1600K, 1700K, 1800K respectively, the range of cracking temperature 1500K increased to 75.0%, 83.3%, 90.2% respectively. The temperature change of Ar by velocity change was widest in the area higher than 1500K when the velocity was 2.5m/s; however, since there was no big difference when the velocity was 2m/s, it is believed that 2 m/s would be most proper.
