In this paper numerical algorithm for the continuum large crack model is proposed based on the return-mapping formulation. The numerical test results show that the present algorithm works appropriately under cyclic loading. It is also shown that in continuum damage models a large crack model to prevent excessive tensile plastic strain should be used to have realistic cyclic loading simulation results.

In this paper, a mathematical model of learning curve is proposed to study the fi- nger's reaction time. The model is a logarithmic linear type which represents a lear- ning curve appropriately, and parameters are estimated by the linear. The learning coefficient and percentage of a reaction time can easily computed in the mathematical model. This quantitative approach provieds an important information to be used fot the working capqbility qualification of re-employment as well as the adaptability estimation of aged workers.

In this paper, we report the influence on the visual perception of the stochastic resonance for Japanese, following frank Moss and his group (1997) 〔1〕. We confirm that the ability of recognition is improved by adding appropriately noise as same as that of non-Japanese.

This paper presents the self-commissioning for surface-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor. The proposed strategy executes three tests with a vector controlled inverter drive system. To do this, synchronous d-q axes currents are appropriately controlled for each test. From the three tests, armature resistance, armature inductance, equivalent iron loss resistance, and emf coefficient are identified automatically. The validity of the proposed strategy is confirmed by experimental results.

The purpose of this paper is to show that when we consider the analytical ways of Dissimilation, it becomes clear that it is insufficient to deal with it in just linear and nonlinear ways. Thus within a new framework to be introduced in this paper, Harmonic Phonology, we will reanalyze the phenomenon. We will also consider how the Obligatory Contour Principle (hereinafter, OCP) is used as both rule trigger and rule blocker in rule application, and works as a universal constraint, that is, a filtering device of ill formed representation. As we also consider it under the new framework, we can show the application position and motivation of rules appropriately and represent the phenomenon synthetically. (Yosu National University)

We found that a droplet placed on a superhydrophobic surface jumps upward when we controlled the electrical wetting tension appropriately by applying AC voltage. We investigated how the surface deformation and jumping phenomenon of a droplet are affected by applied frequency under constant voltage. We found that a droplet jumps up continuously at a resonance frequency.

Color image enhancement can be achieved easily by using linear form of coordinate system. But some popular color coordinate systems almost have nonlinear characteristics in the geometric form. In this paper, the proposed coordinate system has pseudo-linear form and based on IHS system which represents human color perception appropriately. And for the image intensity processing, an edge-preserving smoothing algorithm is presented.

The purpose of this study is to consider the criteria for decision-making of facility location in view of Minimax. As an illustration of the location of storerooms in a manufacturing plant that minimizes the maximum distance workers must travel to reach a storeroom, the number and variety of location problems that can be formulated appropriately as minimax problems are sizable. A minimax solution can be interpreted as a grease the squeaky wheel solution In solving a minimax location problem, costs other than the maximum cost are not considered.

Time dependent analysis of prestressed concrete beams subjected to pure torsion is studied. The present theory covers the behavior from the service load range to the ultimate stage. The tensile resistance of concrete is appropriately considered. The biaxial stress effects due to diagonal cracking are also taken into account. The time dependent aging, creep and shringkage effects are modelled by employing the equivalent nonmechanical torque concept. The present theory allows more accurate prediction of the service load behavior of pretressed concrete members.

S(Synchronous)-CDMA is a new cable modem technology applicable to the upstream channel for high speed multimedia communication using CATV networks. In this paper we analyze the transmitting and receiving process of S-CDMA scheme based on Terayon patent and derive bit error probability of S-CDMA and TDMA scheme in the $\varepsilon$-mixture impulse noise model which appropriately reflects impulse noise characteristics of upstream channel by using various parameters. This analysis results are a good match with the simulation results. We also compare Eb/No gain performance of S-CDMA with TDMA in 16, 32, 64, QAM.
