응용 계층 정보 기반의 에너지 효율적인 센서 네트워크 토폴로지 제어 기법 (An Energy-Efficient Topology Control Scheme based on Application Layer Data in Wireless Sensor Networks)

  • 센서 네트워크의 수명은 이를 구성하는 많은 센서 노드들의 수명에 의존한다. 따라서 각 센서 노드는 에너지를 효율적으로 이용하며 동작하도록 설계하는 것이 네트워크 설계의 중요한 요소이다. 센서 노드들을 계층구조로 구성하는 토폴로지 제어 연구들이 에너지 효율적 측면에서 많이 제안되어 발전해 왔다. 그러나 기존의 연구에서는 센서 노드들이 취득한 응용계층 정보를 바탕으로 클러스터 구성에 활용하거나, 클러스터 내 멤버 노드의 전송을 위한 TDMA 스케줄링에 반영하는 연구는 활발하지 못하였다. 본 논문에서는 응용계층 데이터에 근거한 에너지 효율적인 센서 네트워크 토폴로지 제어기법을 제안한다. 센서노드 응용계층의 정보를 이용하여 데이터 유사성이 높은 인접한 노드들을 섹션으로 형성한 후 클러스터를 구성하다. 각 클러스터를 위한 클러스터 헤드를 선출하는 토폴로지 제어 기법뿐만 아니라 또한, 각 클러스터에서 멤버노드가 감지한 데이터와 클러스터 헤드의 데이터간의 유사지속 정도 및 유사 정도에 근거하여 데이터의 무결성을 크게 훼손하지 않으면서 불필요한 전송을 억제하는 기법도 제안한다. 이와 같은 기법을 통하여 센서 노드들의 에너지 소모를 줄이고 전체 네트워크 수명을 연장 시킬 수 있다.

  • 본 논문은 광대역 종합정보통선망(B-ISDN)에서의 서비스품질(Quality of Service: QoS)을 다룬다. 분산 멀티미디어 환경에서 QoS 요구사항을 보장하는 문제는 기본적으로 종단간의 관점, 즉 응용과 응용 사이에서의 관점이다. 이러한 응용 계층의 QoS와 망 계층의 QoS 간의 번역에서 주요한 사항은 시스템과 망자원 간의 번역 뿐 아니라 계층 프로토콜과 액세스 절차들 사이에서의 번역 역시 중요한 역할을 한다. 본 논문에서는 단말에서 ATM 적응계층(AAL: ATM Adaptation Layer) QoS와 ATM 망 계층 QoS 간의 번역을 다룬다. AAL 계층은 기본적으로 서비스의 형태에 의존하므로 AAL과 ATM 계층의 QoS 파라미터가 정의되며, AAL과 ATM 계층간의 번역에 초점이 맞추어진다. 예로서 AALI 프로토콜을 사용하는 항등비트율 실시간 보장형 서비스에서의 종단간 ATM 성능 QoS 요구사항을 추출한다.

An Ontology-Based GIS for Genomic Data Management of Rumen Microbes

  • During recent years, there has been exponential growth in biological information. With the emergence of large datasets in biology, life scientists are encountering bottlenecks in handling the biological data. This study presents an integrated geographic information system (GIS)-ontology application for handling microbial genome data. The application uses a linear referencing technique as one of the GIS functionalities to represent genes as linear events on the genome layer, where users can define/change the attributes of genes in an event table and interactively see the gene events on a genome layer. Our application adopted ontology to portray and store genomic data in a semantic framework, which facilitates data-sharing among biology domains, applications, and experts. The application was developed in two steps. In the first step, the genome annotated data were prepared and stored in a MySQL database. The second step involved the connection of the database to both ArcGIS and $Prot{\acute{e}}g{\acute{e}}$ as the GIS engine and ontology platform, respectively. We have designed this application specifically to manage the genome-annotated data of rumen microbial populations. Such a GIS-ontology application offers powerful capabilities for visualizing, managing, reusing, sharing, and querying genome-related data.

  • Conventional marketing research generally focuses on a single layer's benefit. A notable example is the consumer layer providing managers with partial market information to evaluate relevant strategies. As generally known, marketing management encounters complex supply and demand behaviors, thereby necessitation that a successful marketing strategy adopt multi-layer considerations, such as the consumer layer, channel-retailer layer, and marketing planner layer. In light of above situation, this study applies fuzzy theory and the analytic hierarchy process(AHP) technique to analyze the performances of marketing strategies under multi-layer benefits, In addition, conventional marketing research has difficulty in efficiently allocating the limited budget so that each desired criterion can be significantly enhanced by a group of events. Therefore, a weighting structure among the goal, layers, criteria, and strategies(i.e. a group of events) is also developed herein to trace the influential process and assist marketing managers in efficiently allocating resources(i.e.budget).

  • One-dimensional thermodynamic mixed layer model to stimulate variations of meteorological variables wish the planetary boundary layer has been developed In this study. This model consists of 2 prognostic equations, which can predict the variations of potential temperature and mixing ratio and several diagnostic equations. Physics within the surface and mixed layers has been considered seperately in the model. For the variations of the model, Its result has been analysed and compared with observated data over Ole Dukyang Bay for one day, July 23, 1992. The simulated height of mixed layer is comparable to the observation and the variations of temperature and mixing ratio in the mixed layer are also reasonably simulated. Those Imply that the model responds appropriately with given boundary conditions In sprite of Its simplilfied assumptions applied to the model and insufficient boundary and Initial conditions.

  • The superconducting transmission cable is one of interesting part in power application using high temperature superconducting wire. One important parameter in HTS cable design is transport current sharing because it is related with current transmission capacity and loss. In this paper, we calculate self inductances of each layer and mutual inductances between two layers from magnetic field energy, and current sharing of each layer for 4-layer cable using the electric circuit model which contain inductance and resistance (by joint and AC loss). Also, transport current losses which are calculated by monoblock model and Norris equation are compared. As a results, outer layer has always larger transport current than inner layer, and current capacity of each layer is largely influenced by resistance per unit cable length. As a conclusion, for high current uniformity and low AC loss, we have to decrease inductances themselves or those differences.

  • In this paper, the silicon-nitride membrane structure for IR sensor was fabricated through the etching and the direct bonding. The PT layer as a IR detection layer was deposited on the membrane and its characteristics were measured. The attack of PT layer during the etching of silicon wafer as well as the thermal isolation of the IR detection layer can be solved through the method of bonding/etching of silicon wafer. Because the PT layer of c-axial orientation rained thermal polarization without polling, the more integration capability can be achieved. The surface roughness of the membrane was measured by AFM, the micro voids and the non-contacted area were inspected by IR detector, and the bonding interface was observed by SEM. The polarization characteristics and the dielectric characteristics of the PT layer were measured, too.

  • Superconducting power cable is one of the most promising energy application of high-$T_c$ superconductors (HTS). A prototype HTS cable have been constructed multi-layer cable using Bi-2223 tape and tested. The result shows that the total transport current of HTS cable in $LN_2$ was 475[A], and transport current passed through almost the outer layer (2-layer). Also, AC transport losses in outer layer of HTS cable was proportion to $I^2$ and higher than losses of inner layer. As magnetic distribution were concentrated on outer layer.

Development of Single-layer-structured Glucose Biosensor

  • In this paper, we fabricated a low-cost glucose sensor with a simpler structure and fabrication process than the existing glucose sensor. The currently used glucose sensor has a three-layer structure with upper, middle, and bottom plates; here, we fabricated a single-layer glucose sensor using only a printing and dispensing process. We successfully fabricated the glucose sensor using a simple method involving the formation of an electrode and insulator layer through a 2- or 3-step printing process on plastic or paper film, followed by the dispensing of glucose oxidase solution on the electrode. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and cyclic amperometry (CA) measurements were used to evaluate the characteristics of the fabricated single-layer glucose sensor. Also, its sensitivity was analyzed through glucose-controlled blood measurements. Hence, a low-cost single-layer glucose sensor was fabricated with evaluation of its characteristics demonstrating that it has useful application in medicine.

Preparation of Boron Doped Fullerene Film by a Thermal Evaporation Technique using Argon Plasma Treatment and Its Electrochemical Application

  • Boron doped fullerene $C_{60}$ ($B:C_{60}$) films were prepared by the thermal evaporation of $C_{60}$ powder using argon plasma treatment. The morphology and structural characteristics of the thin films were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM), Fourier transform infra-red spectroscopy (FTIR) and x-ray photo electron spectroscopy (XPS). The electrochemical application of the boron doped fullerene film as a coating layer for silicon anodes in lithium ion batteries was also investigated. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) measurements were applied to the $B:C_{60}$ coated silicon electrodes at a scan rate of $0.05\;mVs^{-1}$. The CV results show that the $B:C_{60}$ coating layer act as a passivation layer with respect to the insertion and extraction of lithium ions into the silicon film electrode.
