초지연제 및 플라이애쉬를 사용한 콘크리트의 응결시간 예측 (Prediction of Setting Time of Concrete Using Fly Ash and Super Retarding Agent)

  • 본 연구에서는 등가재령개념에 의한 적산온도방법을 이용하여 플라이애쉬를 사용한 초지연 콘크리트의 응결시간 예측방법을 제시하였다. 플라이애쉬 치환 및 초지연제 혼입률 변화에 따른 양생온도별 응결시간은 초지연제 혼입률이 증가하고, 양생온도가 낮을수록 지연되는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 Arrhenius의 함수에 의한 겉보기 활성화 에너지는 배합별로 약간의 차이는 존재하지만 $24{\sim}35KJ/mol$의 범위로 나타났는데, 이는 일반적인 조건에서의 겉보기 활성화 에너지값의 범위인 $30{\sim}50KJ/mol$ 보다 작은 값으로 나타났다. 플라이애쉬 치환율 및 초지연제 혼입률별 겉보기 활성화 에너지를 등가재령식에 대입한 결과 양생온도별로 거의 유사한 값으로 나타나, 응결시간 예측에 등가재령에 의한 적산온도 방법이 효과적으로 적용될 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다. 아울러 등가재령 및 플라이애쉬 치환율 변화에 따른 초지연제 혼입량 추정에 관한 다중상관 회귀 모델을 제안하여 응결시간 및 초지연제 첨가량을 결정할 수 있도록 하였고 회귀 모델에 의한 해석 예측치와 실측치 간에 매우 양호한 상관성을 갖는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구에서 제안된 초지연제 혼입률 및 플라이애쉬 치환율별 응결시간 예측 모델은 실무현장에서 초기재령 콘크리트의 응결 시간 평가에 보다 합리적인 품질관리 방법으로 활용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.

Towards Integrated Pest Management of Rice in Korea

  • In reality, it is a green revolution of the entire agricultural matrix in Korea that integrated pest control plays an important role in the possible breakthrough in rice self-sufficiency. In paddy agroecosystem as man-modified environment, rice is newly established every year by transplantation under diverse water regimes which affect a microclimate. Standing water benefits rice by regulating the microclimate, but it favors the multiplication of certain pets through the amelioration of the microclimate. Further, the introduction of high yielding varieties with the changing of cultural practices results in changing occurrence pattern of certain pests. In general, japonica type varieties lack genes resistant to most of the important pests and insect-borne virus diseases, whereas indica type possesses more genes conferring varietal resistance. Thus, this differences among indica type, form the background of different approaches to pest management. The changes in rice cultivation such as double cropping, growing high-yielding varieties requiring heavy fertilization, earlier transplanting, intensvie-spacing transplanting, and intensive pesticide use as a consequence of the adoption of improves rice production technology, have intensified the pest problems rather than reduced them. The cultivation of resistant varieties are highly effective to the pest, their long term stability is threathened because of the development of new biotypes which can detroy these varieties. So far, three biotypes of N. lugens are reported in Korea. Since each resistant variety is expected to maintain several years the sequential release of another new variety with a different gene at intervals is practised as a gene rotation program. Another approach, breeding multilines that have more than two genes for resistance in a variety are successfully demonstrated. The average annual rice losses during the last 15 years of 1977-’91 are 9.3% due to insect pests without chemical control undertaken, wehreas there is a average 2.4% despite farmers’insecticide application at the same period. In other words, the average annual losses are prvented by 6.9% when chemical control is properly employed. However, the continuous use of a same group of insecticides is followed by the development of pest resistance. Resistant development of C. suppressalis, L. striatellus and N. cincticeps is observed to organophosphorous insecticides by the mid-1960s, and to carbamates by the early 1970s in various parts of the country. Thus, it is apparent that a scheduled chemical control for rice production systems becomes uneconomical and that a reduction in energy input without impairing the rice yield, is necessarily improved through the implementation of integrated pest management systems. Nationwide pest forecasting system conducted by the government organization is a unique network of investigation for purpose of making pest control timely in terms of economic thresholds. A wise plant protection is expected to establish pest management systems in appropriate integration of resistant varieties, biological agents, cultural practices and other measures in harmony with minimizing use of chemical applications as a last weapon relying on economic thresholds.

지르콘의 탄소열환원에 의한 ZrC/SiC의 합성 (Preparation of ZrC/SiC by Carbothermal Reduction of Zircon)

  • Ar 또는 $Ar/H_2$ 가스유통(100~500ml/min)하에서 $ZrSiO_4/C$계 및 $ZrSiO_4/Al/C$계로부터 ZrC/SiC 복합분체의 합성을 $1600^{\circ}C$ 온도범위 내에서 시도하고, 이의 생성기구, 생성속도 및 분체특성을 검토하였다. $ZrSiO_4/C$계에서는 $1400^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 $ZrO_2(s)$와 SiO(g)가 각각 탄소와 경쟁반응하여 ZrC 및 SiC를 생성하였다. ZrC생성을 위한 겉보기활성화에너지는 약 18.5kcal/mol($1400-1600^{\circ}C$)이었다. 한편 $ZrSiO_4/Al/C$계에서는 $1200^{\circ}C$ 이상에서 ZrO(g)가 Al(l, g) 및 탄소와 반응하여 ZrC를 생성하였으며, $1300^{\circ}C$ 이상에서는 SiO(g)가 Al(l, g) 및 탄소와 환원-탄화반응하여 SiC를 생성하였다. $1600^{\circ}C$, 5시간 반응으로 얻은 생성물은 평균입경 $21.8{\mu}m$을 갖는 분말로서 ZrC의 격자정수는 $4.679{\AA}$, 결정자크기는 $640{\AA}$이었으며 SiC의 격자정수는 $4.135{\AA}$, 결정자크기는 $540{\AA}$ 정도이었다.

  • This study was designed to investigate the relationship between the dietary intake according to calorie intake from a coffee containing beverage and the bone health status of 189 female collegians. The study was conducted through questionnaires, anthropometric checkup, 3-days food records and ultrasound measurement of calcaneus bone mineral density. Subjects were divided into three groups: students not drinking coffee(non-coffee group, N=56), students consuming <100 kcal daily from coffee(low-calorie coffee group, N=84), and students consuming $\geq100$ kcal of their total daily calories from coffee(high- calorie coffee group, N=49). There were no significant differences in weight, height, body mass index, body fat and calcaneus bone mineral density among the three groups. The low-calorie coffee group usually drank black coffee or instant coffee mix, and the high-calorie coffee group habitually drank coffee with milk or sugar syrup. There were no significant differences in the mean daily energy and food intake among the three groups. However, vitamin $B_2$(p<0.05) and calcium (p<0.01) intake in the high-calorie coffee group were higher than in the non-coffee group. Also, mean intake of sugars, fish and shellfishes, milks and beverages in the high-calorie coffee group were also significantly higher than in non coffee group(p<0.05). There was no significant difference in the Korean Dietary Diversity Score(KDDS) among the three groups. The main calcium source was milk in all three groups, and milk intake(total and included with coffee) was highest in the high-calorie coffee group. Although no significant difference was apparent between the high-calorie and non-coffee groups concerning anthropometric factors and calcaneus bone mineral density, consumption of coffee may have influenced food and nutrient intake. The results suggest that consumption of milk-supplemented coffee may be of nutritional benefit.

구기자 및 혼합구기자 열수 추출 농축액의 리올로지적 특성 (Rheological Properties of Hot-Water Extractable Concentrates of Boxthorn (Lycii Fructus) and Mixed Boxthorn)

  • 구기자의 이용 및 활용을 확대 증진시키기 위해서 구기자 및 기호성을 향상시키기 위해 바른 생약류가 소량 혼합된 혼합구기자 열수 추출 농축액의 리올로지적 특성을 조사 비교한 결과는 다음과 같다. 각각의 농축액들은 power law model에 잘 적용되어 해석할 수 있었으며, 모두 비뉴톤 유체로서 의가소성 유체의 흐름특성을 보여주었다. 전단속도 1,500 l/s, $20^{\circ}C$ 에서의 겉보기 점도는 혼합구기자 $50^{\circ}Bx(0.1940\;Pa{\cdot}s)$, 구기자 $50^{\circ}Bx(0.0988\;Pa{\cdot}s),$ 혼합구기자 $40^{\circ}Bx(0.0720\;Pa{\cdot}s)$. 구기자 $40^{\circ}Bx(0.0431\;Pa{\cdot}s)$, 혼합구기자 $30^{\circ}Bx(0.0328\;Pa{\cdot}s)$, 구기자 $30^{\circ}Bx(0.0175\;Pa{\cdot}s)$, 혼합구기자 $20^{\circ}Bx(0.0099\;Pa{\cdot}s)$, 설탕용액 $50^{\circ}Bx(0.0078\;Pa{\cdot}s)$, 구기자 $20^{\circ}Bx(0.0074\;Pa{\cdot}s)$ 농축액 순이었다. 농축액들의 항복력은 구기자 열수 추출 농축액이 $0.1286{\sim}6.2532\;Pa{\cdot}s$, 혼합구기자 열수 추출농축액 $0.074{\sim}8.891\;Pa{\cdot}s$이었다. Arrhenius식에 의해 구한 유동 활성화에너지는 $20^{\circ}Bx$에서 $50^{\circ}Bx$로 농도가 증가할 때 구기자 열수 추출 농축액은 $1.6182{\sim}2.0543$, 혼합구기자 열수 추출 농축액은 $1.7057{\sim}2.1462{\times}10^7\;J/kg{\cdot}mol$로 증가하였다. 이와 같이 구기자 열수 추출 농축액과 혼합구기자 열수 추출 농축액의 리올리지적 특성에 큰 차이를 나타내지는 않았다.

Improving the Nutritive Value of Full-Fat Rice Bran for Broiler Chickens Using a Lipase-Based Enzyme Preparation

  • Two experiments were conducted to test the hypothesis that a lipase-based enzyme preparation would increase the AME content of full-fat rice bran (FFRB) by increasing fat digestibility when fed to broiler chickens. Experiment 1 used FFRB from Australia and lasted for 35 days, while Experiment 2 used FFRB from Thailand and lasted for 14 days. Rice bran was substituted in a maize-soybean diet at levels of 90 g/kg (Experiment 1) and at 90 and 180 g/kg in Experiment 2. Total collections of excreta were used for determination of AME content and fat digestibility. In Experiment 1, the enzyme increased the AME content of FFRB between days 4-7, 18-21 and 32-35 by 6.1-16.1% (p>0.05), however this was not associated with improved fat digestibility. In Experiment 2, the enzyme enhanced the AME content of FFRB between days 4-7 (10.42 vs. 9.06, p=0.107) and 11-14 (11.94 vs. 9.93, p=0.041), but again, this was not caused by increased fat digestibility. Inclusion of 180 g/kg depressed the AME content of FFRB by 7.4-11.5% (p>0.10) in conjunction with decreased (p<0.05) fat digestibility between 0-14 days of age. Improvements in bird growth with the enzyme were seen in Experiment 2 but not in Experiment 1. Increases in AME content of FFRB per se were not caused by enhanced fat digestibility, suggesting that the side activities associated with the preparation must have acted singularly or in combination to improve AME content and bird performance. These data show that the response of FFRB to the lipase-based enzyme preparation was dependent upon the geographical origin of the rice bran and the level of FFRB substituted in the basal diet.

Effects of Corn and Soybean Meal Types on Rumen Fermentation, Nitrogen Metabolism and Productivity in Dairy Cows

  • Twelve multiparous Holstein dairy cows in mid-lactation were selected for a replicated $4{\times}4$ Latin square design with a $2{\times}2$ factorial arrangement to investigate the effects of corn and soybean meal (SBM) types on rumen fermentation, N metabolism and lactation performance in dairy cows. Two types of corn (dry ground [DGC] and steam-flaked corn [SFC]) and two types of SBM (solvent-extracted and heat-treated SBM) with different ruminal degradation rates and extents were used to formulate four diets with the same basal ingredients. Each period lasted for 21 days, including 14 d for adaptation and 7 d for sample collection. Cows receiving SFC had a lower dry matter (DM) and total N intake than those fed DGC. However, the milk yield and milk protein yield were not influenced by the corn type, resulting in higher feed and N utilization efficiency in SFC-fed cows than those receiving DGC. Ruminal acetate concentrations was greater and total volatile fatty acids concentrations tended to be greater for cows receiving DGC relative to cows fed SFC, but milk fat content was not influenced by corn type. The SFC-fed cows had lower ruminal ammonia-N, less urea N in their blood and milk, and lower fecal N excretion than those on DGC. Compared with solvent-extracted SBM-fed cows, cows receiving heat-treated SBM had lower microbial protein yield in the rumen, but similar total tract apparent nutrient digestibility, N metabolism measurements, and productivity. Excessive supply of metabolizable protein in all diets may have caused the lack of difference in lactation performance between SBM types. Results of the present study indicated that increasing the energy degradability in the rumen could improve feed efficiency, and reduce environmental pollution.

Radiation Induced-Grafting of Acrylic Acid onto Polyvinyl Chloride Fibers

  • Polyvinyl Chloride 섬유에 Acrylic acid (AA)를 방사선을 이용하여 Graft 중합 반응시킬 때 Homopolymer의 방지제인 Ferrous, Ferric, Cupric salt을 첨가시켰다. 방사선 선원으로서는 Co-60의 ${\gamma}$-선 또는 Van de Graaff 가속기를 사용하였으며 조사방법으로는 상호조사법을 이용하였다. Graft 중합반응과 Homopolymerization은 반응계에 첨가시킨 Cation에 의해서 영향을 받았으며 그 효율은 $Cu^{2+}$>$Fe^{2+}$>$Fe^{3+}$의 순서였다. Graft 중합반응속도는 방사선 선량율이 $8.5\times10^3$부터 $1.4\times10^{5}$rad/hr 사이에서 선량율의 0.76중에 비례하였고, Craft 중합반응에 대한 활성화 에너지는 $25^{\circ}$부터 $75^{\circ}C$ 사이에서 6.1 Kcal/mole이었다. 이 때 중합반응 용액은 AA-$H_2O$-$(CH_2Cl)_2$로서 Homopolymer inhibitor의 농도는 $4\times10^{-3}$ mole/1이었다. Graft율은 총선량과 선량율이 클 때 증가하였거나 또는 Polymer 팽윤제인 Ethylene dichloride가 monomer 혼합용액과 포화되었을 때 증가되었다. Acrylic acid가 Craft된 Polyvinyl Chloride 섬유는 흡습율, 열수축성, 용융성이 크게 증진되었고 Tensile properties는 original과 별차이를 나타내지 않았다.

Effects of Feeding Solid-state Fermented Rapeseed Meal on Performance, Nutrient Digestibility, Intestinal Ecology and Intestinal Morphology of Broiler Chickens

  • This trial was conducted to determine the effects of feeding a diet containing solid-state fermented rapeseed meal on performance, nutrient digestibility, intestinal ecology and intestinal morphology of broiler chickens. A mixed liquid culture, containing approximately 5 log cfu/ml Lactobacillus fermentum, Enterococcus faecium, Saccharomyces cerevisae and Bacillus subtilis was prepared in a 1:1:1:1 ratio. A basal substrate (BS) containing 75% rapeseed, 24% wheat bran and 1% brown sugar was mixed with the liquid culture in a ratio of 10:3. Over the 30-day fermentation, isothiocyanates were reduced from 119.6 to 14.7 mmol/kg. A total of 168, day-old male Arbor Acres broiler chicks were assigned to one of three dietary treatments including a corn-soybean meal based control diet as well as two experimental diets in which the control diet was supplemented with 10% of the BS containing unfermented rapeseed meal or 10% of the BS containing rapeseed meal subjected to solid state fermentation. There were 8 pens per treatment and 7 birds per pen. From days 19-21 and days 40-42, uncontaminated excreta were collected from each pen for digestibility determinations. In addition, digesta from the colon and ceca were collected to determine the number of lactobacilli, enterobacteria and total aerobes. The middle sections of the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum were collected for intestinal morphology. Over the entire experimental period (d 1-42), the weight gain and feed conversion of birds fed fermented rapeseed meal were superior (p<0.05) to that of birds fed nonfermented rapeseed meal and did not differ from the soybean control. On day 42, birds fed fermented rapeseed meal had higher (p<0.05) total tract apparent digestibility coefficients for dry matter, energy, and calcium than birds fed non-fermented rapeseed meal. Colon and ceca digesta from broilers fed the fermented feed had higher (p<0.05) lactobacilli counts than birds fed the control and non-fermented rapeseed meal diets on day 21 and 42. Fermentation also improved (p<0.05) villus height and the villus height:crypt depth ratio in the ileum and jejunum on day 21 and 42. The results indicate that solid-state fermentation of rapeseed meal enhanced performance and improved the intestinal morphology of broilers and may allow greater quantities of rapeseed meal to be fed to broilers potentially reducing the cost of broiler production.

Forsythia suspensa Extract Has the Potential to Substitute Antibiotic in Broiler Chicken

  • Two experiments were conducted to investigate the potential for Forsythia suspensa extract (FSE) to substitute for antibiotic in broiler chicken. First, a well-diffusion assay procedure and a 2-fold dilution method were used to determine the bacteriostatic activity of FSE on Escherichia coli K88, staphylococcus aureus, and salmonella was assayed. An inhibitory effect of FSE was observed on the growth of these bacteria. This effect seems to be dose depended, which disappeared after 25.00, 12.50, 1.56 mg/ml. Second, a 42-d trial with 252 broiler chickens (d 1, $38.7{\pm}1.1$ g BW) was conducted to evaluate the effect of dietary supplementation of FSE in broiler chicken. The feeding program consisted of a starter diet from d 1 to 21 and a finisher diet from d 22 to 42. Dietary treatments included were: i) NC: negative control fed a corn-soybean meal based diet; ii) PC: positive control group fed based diet with chlortetracycline; and iii) FC: a test group fed with 100 mg FSE/kg diet. In this study growth performance did not differ among treatments during the starter period. However, dietary supplemental chlortetracycline and FSE increased (p<0.05) average daily gain (ADG), average daily feed intake (ADFI) compared with NC during the finisher and overall phase. Apparent digestibility of calcium on d 21, digestibility of energy and calcium on d 42 of FC was greater (p<0.05) than NC. Moreover, cecal Escherichia coli counts for birds from FC were lower (p<0.05) than NC. Dietary FSE supplementation also improved (p<0.05) villus height and villus height to crypt depth ratios in both duodenum and ileum and decreased (p<0.05) crypt depth in the duodenum. Duodenum villus height and villus height to crypt depth ratio in both duodenum and ileum from the FC group were also greater (p<0.05). Serum growth hormone and IGF-1 were not influenced by different treatments. Apparently, FSE has the potential to substitute for antibiotic in broiler chicken.
