Study on Developing Assessment Guideline for Safety and Performance of Electric Cupping Apparatus (전동식 부항기에 대한 안전성 및 성능평가 가이드라인 개발연구)

  • Objectives : We developed and proposed a guideline for safety and performance assessment of electric cupping apparatus(Class 2 medical device). Methods : We drafted the guideline for safety and performance assessment of electric cupping apparatus by referring the existing standards and guideline, based on online questionnaire for Korean medical doctors and measurement data from commercially available products. Physical dimension of cups and inner vacuum pressure were acquired for the measurement in order to achieve the purposes. Results : This guideline only can be applied to electric cupping apparatus for enhancing blood circulation by employing negative pressure generated by electricity. Seven items of appearance and label, operation test of pump, variation test of input electricity, vacuum level test, vacuum sustain test, cup-size dependent test, noise level test are suggested for evaluation subjects and methods required for electric cupping devices. Requirements for the design and development of electric cupping devices are suggested: vacuum level indicator, vacuum generation rate, pressure control, valve detachment stability, cup comparability, safety measure, surge protection, user friendliness, instruction for use (IFU). Conclusions : We proposed a guideline for safety and performance assessment of electric cupping apparatus to improve the quality of relating products and aid the commercialization of them, by aiming higher industrial competitiveness of the medical device sectors in Korea. Discussion with related institutes such as industry, academy and government is further required. Public hearings also need to be held prior to the establishment of a final guideline and standard.

Development of Integrated Type Main Frame and Downhole Sonde Apparatus for Hydraulic Packer Testing in Seabed Rock under High Water Pressure (고수압 해저지반 수리특성 조사용 일체형 메인 프레임과 공내 측정장치 개발)

  • The accurate and quantitative ground information on the hydraulic conductivity characteristics of rock mass is one of the key factors for evaluation of the hydro-geological behaviour of rock mass around an excavated opening under high water pressure. For tunnel and rock structures in seabed, where the sea acts as an infinite source of water, its importance become greater with increasing construction depth below sea level. In this study, to improve the problems related with poor system configuration and incorrect data acquisition of previous hydraulic packer testing equipment, we newly developed an integrated main frame and 30 bar level waterproof downhole sonde apparatus, which were optimized for deep hydraulic packer test in seabed rock mass. Integration of individual test equipment into one frame allows safe and efficient field testing work on a narrow offshore drilling platform. For the integrated type main frame, it is possible to make precise stepwise control of downhole net injection pressure at intervals of $2.0kg_f/cm^2$ or less with dual hydraulic oil volume controller. To ensure the system performance and the operational stability of the prototype mainframe and downhole sonde apparatus, the field feasibility tests were completed in two research boreholes, and using the developed apparatus, the REV(Representative Elementary Volume) scale deep hydraulic packer tests were successfully carried out at a borehole located in the basalt region, Jeju. In this paper, the characteristics of the new testing apparatus are briefly introduced and also some results from the laboratory and in-situ performance tests are shown.

Optimization of Light Source Combination through the Illuminance and Color Temperature Simulation of Circadian Lighting Apparatus (감성조명용 조명기기의 조도 및 색온도 시뮬레이션을 통한 광원 조합의 최적화)

  • The aim of this study is to optimize the light source combination which can maximize the capability of the illuminance and color temperature of circadian lighting apparatus. To achieve this goal, the circadian lighting apparatus was consisted of two different types of fluorescent lamps having different color temperature of 2000K and 8000K, respectively, and the capability of the illuminance and color temperature of circadian lighting apparatus was evaluated by optical simulation as the number of the respective lamps were varied. Considering the Kruithof's curve and exceptional cases, the ranges of illuminance and color temperature for the living activities were reclassified in 4 groups - gathering, studying, relaxing and sleeping - so that the target range of illuminance and color temperature of lighting apparatus was settled. As a result, in the case of adopting two fixtures in which four 2000K lamps and five 8000K lamps were consisted, respectively to one fixture, the highest illuminance was expected at 4000K and over 500lx of illuminance was calculated between 3000K and 6000K. Through the optimized combination of light sources, the range of illuminance and color temperature were calculated as $44{\sim}750lx$ and $2500{\sim}6500K$, respectively.

  • 1. Objectives The Face is an important standard for the classification of Sasang Constitutions. We are developing 3D Automatic Face Recognition Apparatus(3D-AFRA) to analyse the facial characteristics. This apparatus show us 3D image and data of man's face and measure facial figure data. So We should examine the Measurement of Facial Figure data error of 3D Automatic Face Recognition Apparatus(3D-AFRA) in Software Error Analysis. 2. Methods We scanned face status by using 3D Automatic Face Recognition Apparatus(3D-AFRA). And we measured lengths Between Facial Definition Parameters of facial figure data by Facial Measurement program. 2.1 Repeatability test We measured lengths Between Facial Definition Parameters of facial figure data restored by 3D-AFRA by Facial Measurement program 10 times. Then we compared 10 results each other for repeatability test. 2.2 Measurement error test We measured lengths Between Facial Definition Parameters of facial figure data by two different measurement program that are Facial Measurement program and Rapidform2006. At measuring lengths Between Facial Definition Parameters, we uses two measurement way. The one is straight line measurement, the other is curved line measurement. Then we compared results measured by Facial Measurement program with results measured by Rapidform2006. 3. Results and Conclusions In repeatability test, standard deviation of results is 0.084-0.450mm. And in straight line measurement error test, the average error 0.0582mm, and the maximum error was 0.28mm. In curved line measurement error test, the average error 0.413mm, and the maximum error was 1.53mm. In conclusion, we assessed that the accuracy and repeatability of Facial Measurement program is considerably good. From now on we complement accuracy of 3D-AFRA in Hardware and Software.

  • Sealed sources have to conducted the tests be done according to the classification requirements for their typical usages in accordance with the relevant domestic notice standard and ISO 2919. After each test, the source shall be examined visually for loss of integrity and pass an appropriate leakage test. Tests to class a sealed source are temperature, external pressure, impact, vibration and puncture test. The environmental test conditions for tests with class numbers are arranged in increasing order of severity. In this study, the apparatus of tests, except the vibration test, were developed and applied to three kinds of sealed source. The conditions of the tests to class a sealed source were stated and the difference between the domestic notice standard and ISO 2919 were considered. And apparatus of the tests were made. Using developed apparatus we conducted the tests for $^{192}Ir$ brachytherapy sealed source and two kinds of sealed source for industrial radiography. $^{192}Ir$ brachytherapy sealed source is classified by temperature class 5, external pressure class 3, impact class 2 and vibration and puncture class 1. Two kinds of sealed source for industrial radiography are classified by temperature class 4, external pressure class 2, impact and puncture class 5 and vibration class 1. After the tests, Liquid nitrogen bubble test and vacuum bubble test were done to evaluate the safety of the sealed sources.

Shear Behavior of Sands Depending on Shear Box Type in Direct Shear Test (직접전단실험시 전단상자의 종류에 따른 모래시료의 전단거동)

  • Shear behavior obtained by direct shear tests is dependent on shear box and boundary condition. The objective of this study is to analyze problems of conventional direct shear test (type-A) and provide the reliable results by developing type-C direct shear apparatus. Experimental tests are carried out for Ulleung sand by using type-A and -C direct shear devices. The soil specimens, which are prepared at the relative density of 60%, and are applied to vertical confining stresses of 50, 100, 200, 300, and 400 kPa, are sheared at a constant shear strain rate of 0.5 mm/min. By comparing the results obtained by type-A and -C direct shear apparatus under constant normal load (CNL) condition, the performance of new one is verified. In addition, two constrained conditions including constant normal load (CNL) and constant pressure (CP) are applied to type-C one. Experimental results show that type-A direct shear apparatus has some problems such as rotating of loading plate and upper shear box, and the frictional forces between soil and inner wall of upper shear box. Thus, the shear strengths obtained by type-A device are overestimated or underestimated depending on shear box and boundary condition. On the other hand, type-C device produces clear and consistent test results regardless of constrained conditions. This study represents that type-C direct shear apparatus not only can solve the problems of type-A direct shear apparatus but provide the reliable results.

Development of Cloud Chamber by Using Peltier Device (펠티에 소자를 이용한 안개상자 개발)

  • In this research, we developed the newly cloud chamber apparatus by using Peltier device to apply nuclear physics experiment in high school or university. We observed the cosmic rays track by using the developed apparatus and a camcorder. And we compared and analyzed the acquired data. From the results, we acquired the following conclusions and suggestions : First, it is very difficult to observe the cosmic rays track in the typical cloud chamber because of the low frequency of it. But in the newly developed cloud chamber we can observe easily the cosmic rays track owing to the high frequency of it. Second, when we do the experiment with the newly developed apparatus, we found that the cosmic rays track happens well under the condition that the temperature of the upper place of cooling plate must be below 5$^{\circ}C$ with more than isopropanol $1.04{\times}10^{-5}$ $ml{\cdot}mm^{-3}$. Third, the newly developed apparatus will be improved to have better precision by controling the temperature of cooling plate in the cloud chamber by current intensity. Therefore we think that it is very useful to use the newly developed apparatus in the nuclear physics experiment in highschool or university.

An Experimental Study for the Design of Household-Storage Facilities (부엌 수납장 설계 기준 설정을 위한 기초적 연구)

  • What is attempted here is to find out an optimum method for the design of physical environments that could save human energy expenditures and safely perform household duties. There are, if any, very little amount of research done in this area. This is particulary so when the work relates to the designing of household storage facilities in the light of the energy metabolism of human body. The first step to this study, therefore, is to find out the ways by which we can determine the energy metabolism of human body accurately. To measure the volume and the concentration of human respiration continuously and automatically, a new apparatus is selected here. This includes the recording system with the Wright Respirometer and the Expired Gas Analyzer as well as the computer system to multiply volume by concentration of human respiration and to integrate them for a given time. Then, the author experimented on the reliability of this apparatus and came to the conclusion that this apparatus satisfied our need to research the energy metabolism of human body. Next, the general plan and procedures to experiment with this apparatus have been determined as follows: 1) subjects are three young and sound females. Their physical characteristics are shown in Table 1 and most approximates the standard characteristics of Japanese females, 2) height of open shelves is selected in such away as to correspond to the respective height of each subject(see Table 2), 3) utensils to be stored are box shaped object, which weight is 0.5kg, 1.0kg, 2.0kg or 3.0kg, 4) working motions are given while one or two hands as to place utensil on each shelf from the standard working board, 85 cm in height and then to place back it on the board from the shelf and repeated in constant velocity as 10 times per a minute, 5) each posture of motion is chosen by each subject in free, 6) procedures of measurement of human energy metabolism ard shown at(6), 1, Section 3 as specific methods for using this apparatus. Findings of this study are as follows: 1. Human energy expenditures for storing utensils on shelves by each subject are shown in quantity more accurately than in any other studies, under varying conditions about height of shelves, load of utensils and working motion with one hand and two hands (see Fig. 8~13 and Table 3). 2. Experimental formulae of human energy expenditure for that work are shown as formula (8), (9) and (10), to generalize results of 1. and to apply those for working motion under given conditions. 3. As results of analysis on gained data, we are able to show the standard model of human energy expenditures for storing untensils on shelves by the standard Japanese female (see Table 7 and Fig. 14).

  • In the present study, the vacuolar apparatus were investigated in the hepatocytes of rats treated with DA by transmission electron microscopy of conventional and cytochemical thin sections. In the rats after 20 min of dehydrocholic acid treatment, the cis Golgj cisterns were sacculated in line. The saccule occasionally occured by elongation and attenuated neck. The lysosomes also showed protrudent saccule. The vesicles were observed near the cis Golgi cisterns, lysosome and bile canaliculi. Some of the vesicles appeared to be fused to bile canaliculi. The cis Golgi cisterns usually faced toward the bile canaliculi both in normal and experimental groups. The cis Golgi cisterns, protrudent saccule and vesicles were almost devoid of visible contents. The osmium deposits were heavy on the protrudent saccule as well as on the cis Golgi cisterns or on the vesicles isolated near by, but they were light or not observed on the vesicles in the immediate vicinity of bile canaliculi. The acid phosphatase activities appeared on the lysosome and vesicles located near by, but did not appear on the vesicles as approaching closer to the bile canaliculi. The evidence suggests that the vesicles are derived from the cis Gogi cistern and lysosomes and fuse to bile canaliculi for exocytosis, and that the activity in the vesicles is diminished as approaching closer to the bile canaliculi.

Development and Field Application of Apparatus for Determination of Limit State Design Strength Characteristics in Weathered Ground (한계상태설계법 지반정수 산정을 위한 풍화대 강도특성 측정장치의 개발 및 현장적용에 관한 연구)

  • Applying the limit state design method to geotechnical structures, accuracy and reliability of its design are mainly affected by parameters for geotechnical site characteristics, such as unit weight, Poisson's ratio, deformation modulus, cohesion and frictional angle. When the structures are located in weathered ground, especially, cohesion and frictional angle of ground are closely related with decision of parameters for structures' load and ground's resistance. Therefore, the accurate determination of these parameters, which are commonly obtained from field measurement, such as borehole shear test, are essential for optimum design of geotechnical structures. The 38 case studies, in this study, have been analyzed for understanding the importance of these parameters in designing the ground structures. From these results, importance of field measurement was also ascertained. With these evaluations, an apparatus for determining the strength characteristics, which are fundamental in limit state design (LSD) method, have been newly developed. This apparatus has an improved function as following the ASTM suggestion. Through the field application of this apparatus, the strong point of minimizing the possibility of error occurrence during the measurement has been verified and authors summarized that the essential parameters for LSD can be qualitatively obtained by this apparatus for determination of strength characteristics of weathered ground.
