  • This study was conducted as a basic data for preparing future management alternatives by analyzing the status and characteristics of invasive alien plants by land-use type based on the formation of a new town in Goyang Siksa district. As a result, the invasive alien plants in the Goyang Siksa district were 20 families 46 genera 57 taxa; according to the land-use type, the residential area(Wi City apartment complex) is 7 families 10 genera 12 taxa, the public facilities area(Dongguk University campus) is 17 families 40 genera 47 taxa, the mixed forest is 5 families 10 genera 10 taxa, the rice paddy is 5 families 6 genera 7 taxa, river(Mt. Gyeondal creek) is 7 families 13 genera 15 taxa were appeared. The life-form of invasive alien plants in Goyang Siksa district is annuals, the origin is America, the introduction time is third period(1962~the present), and the diffusion grade is wide spread(5 grade) species. It was higher than other types. The naturalization index by location was 31.9% in river(Mt. Gyeondal creek), 21.2% in rice paddy, 16.7% in mixed forest, 15.5% in public facilities area(Dongguk University campus), and 8.5% in residential area(Wi City apartment complex). As a result of comparing the naturalization index by regions with the previous studies, it is judged that there are differences due to the environment such as urbanization progress, size, area, population inflow and location conditions. Although many new towns have been established to date, there is a lack of research on flora (including invasive alien plants) as a basic data for preparing management alternatives. Therefore, Through this study, basic data on the management of exotic plants by land use unit in urban areas can be provided.

  • This study analyzed and assessed the water quality of a small urban stream in the apartment complex of Yewol-Dong, Buchun-Si at Korea. The flows in the stream due to the interceptions of sewage and normal flow are usually low and the water quality and offensive odor problems by inflows of the sewage and other pollutants are occurred in the study area. Therefore we intended to monitor and identify the water quality conditions. Based on this, we simulated water quality using QUAL2E model and investigated water quality characteristics for the future. As the results, we found that the water quality depended on the inflows of point and non-point sources and so it is important to maintain instream flow for improvement of water quality problem and to intercept point and non-point sources in this study area.

  • Traceability links are logical links between individual requirements and other system elements such as architecture descriptions, source code, and test cases. These are useful for requirements change impact analysis, requirements conflict analysis, and requirements consistency checking. However, establishing and maintaining traceability links places a big burden since complex systems have especially yield an enormous number of various artifacts. We propose a feature-oriented requirements tracing method to manage requirements with cost benefit analysis, including value consideration and intermediate catalysis using features. Our approach offers two contributions to the study of requirements tracing: (1)We introduce feature modeling as intermediate catalysis to generate traceability links between user requirements and implementation artifacts. (2)We provide value consideration with cost and efforts to identify traceability links based on prioritized requirements, thus assigning a granularity level to each feature. In this paper, we especially present the results of a case study which is carried out in Apartment Ubiquitous Platform to integrate and connect home services in an apartment complex in details.

  • This study explores the gender differences in the relationship between social support, social networks and drinking behavior and illustrates gender differences in drinking behavior in order to provide evidence in planning a community health promotion program. Data was collected from 444 surveys (Male=190, Female=244) from a total of 1,899 adult residents in 738 households in the "Y" Apartment Complex in the Gangnam area of Seoul, Korea. Results show significantly higher rates of drinking frequency and alcohol consumption volume in males. Women with high-risk drinking behavior have fewer social relationships than women with normal drinking behavior. Within social networks, friends were significantly associated with drinking behavior and alchol abuse. Drinkers had more friends than non-drinkers in both genders. However, in association with alchol abuse, while male abusers had less friends than normal male drinkers, women abusers had more friends, indicating women who have drinking problems have a stronger social network. This pattern suggests gender differences in the association between social networks and alchol abuse. Therefore in approaching drinking issues, social support and social networks act as a key factor. For men, alcohol prevention programs should be aimed at achieving healthy drinking behavior at the aggregate level including people in his social support and social network groups. For women, the priority is alchol abuse. More attention is required in revealing the context between female social networks and alchol abuse and in developing coping strategies other than drinking.

  • This study was conducted to determine nutritional values of different sources of food residues(FR) released in autumn and to compare them with nutrient requirements on NRC standard feeding system of swine. Hospital or cafeteria FR contained more cooked rice and side dishes residues and less vegetable residues and fruit peel, resulting in higher energy and lower fiber contents, compared to apartment complex FR, which had opposite patterns to these results. Chemical composition between hospital and cafeteria FR was almost similar. Salt(NaCl) content was more than 9 folds of NRC swine requirement, but much lower than the maximum tolerant level. Essenial and non-essential amino acids profile was similar among FR sources. Hospital or cafeteria FR protein had a similar pepsin digestibility to soybean meal protein. Apartment complex FR protein, however, had a much lower pepsin digestibility. When NRC nutrient requirements are considered, FR in swine diets could satisfy requirements of protein and all the essential amino acids, 75${\sim}$111% of digestible or metabolizable energy, and most of the major and minor minerals. All the FR contained extremely low levels of toxic heavy metals, indicating that they are completely safe from these toxic substances. It was concluded that hospital or cafeteria FR could be a nutritionally excellent and balanced feed source for swine.

  • In this study, we sought to find out the effect of different emotional interior images of the community facilities in an apartment complex on a youth brain wave by analyzing an Electroencephalograph (EEG). Based on the frequency of usage, we selected learning facilities, cultural facilities, and sport facilities. For brain stimulation, the visual stimulants with three different emotional words, cheerful, gentle, and elegant, were used based on I.R.I image scale. Overall, total nine different emotional images were used. Based on our findings, we conclude that: first, in order to improve learning concentration of the youth, a learning facility for the youth needs to be designed by skillfully combining the soft and comfortable colors from the gentle image and the murky and dark colors from the elegant image. Second, when designing a cultural facility, it is preferable to consider the elegant image for a calm and comfortable space. Third, a sport facility design needs to preclude dark colors and apply light colors to create a dynamic and lively space. Furthermore, we found out that the youth has established static images of each functionally different facility through their experience and learning. Therefore, it is imperative to plan community facilities in an apartment complex in a way to connect the space function with the emotional characteristics of the youth in order to support and encourage energetic activities and learning of the community youth.

  • It is not surprising that senior centers are widely used nationwide as Korea becomes an aging society. This study attempts to figure out senior citizens' needs and evaluations of senior centers in terms of characteristics of their usage and spatial composition. A face to face interview using a questionnaire was conducted on 255 senior citizens who has been using senior centers located in Jangyu new city apartment housing complex. The questionnaire is composed of questions asking characteristics of their usage, evaluations of spatial composition, and respondents' demographic data. Findings are: First, it is found that many respondents visit senior centers everyday and spend 4 to 6 hours a day. Their main activities are meeting friends, taking hobbies, and dining. That is, senior centers play a pivotal role in daily lives of senior citizens. Such characteristics should be taken into account in space design when planning to build a future senior center; Second, it is found that senior centers play a role of auxiliary space for building their sense of belonging and familarity. It is found that furnitures in senior centers are worn out and safety measures are not sufficiently considered; Third, it is found that they highly evaluate flexible spacial composition that could be partitioned or extended depending on occasions even though they prefer independent space; Fourth, it is found that kitchen facilities are not large enough considering the fact that more that half of the respondents have their lunches in senior centers. Even though they do not cook for themselves kitchen space should be large enough for preparing meals simultaneously for a large number people.

  • Recently, block and permeable pavements have been placed in apartment complex. However. it is hard to decide the cycle of maintenance and repair due to lack of performance evaluation criteria for these pavements. This study carried out life cycle cost analysis(LCCA) to present resonable alternatives of the pavements by considering initial construction cost, maintenance and repair cost along with the cycle of repair. According to results of LCCA, the interlocking concrete block pavement is the best alternative when the repair cycle of 20years is assumed, while asphalt concrete pavement is the best alterative when the repair cycle of 10years is assumed. Therefore, the repair cycle is most important factor to select alternative. Also, it is necessary to develop resonable performance evaluation index to quantify the cycle of maintenance and repair in the future.

  • A fire sprinkler system is very important to extinguish fire in the building. The sprinkler system initiates sprinkler discharge if the detection system identifies a developing fire and opens the pre-action valve. However, pre-action fire sprinkler systems mainly installed in the underground parking lot at the apartment complex do not properly operate at fire if the connection type of fire sprinkler systems does not properly installed and operated. This study identified the relationship between fire dispersion & damage and the connection type of water supply in the sprinkler system from many fire cases at the apartment complex in South Korea. In addition, this study also identified the water supply differences and characteristics between South Korea and foreign countries. The main purpose of this study is also to improve the water connection types in the sprinkler system that can reduce the potential failures of pre-action valve operation through electrical signal system. The study also suggests the improvement plan for water connection types in pre-action fire sprinkler system that can minimize potential failure of pre-action fire sprinkler system. The suggestions for revising the fire safe standard in South Korea includes letting the water supply pipe of sprinkler system water inlet connect to the second side of pre-action valve and the water flow device that can minimize potential failure of sprinkler system.
