  • In this paper, we evaluated the effect of a silica-based Anti-Reflection(AR) coating for PV modules. The coating technique can be easily applied to large-scale PV modules at room temperature with improvements of the optical properties that is qualified by the optical transmission measurements on the coated cover glass of the modules. The power improvement of the large-scale PV modules shows the increasing about 2.4% at standard condition of the coating technique on average. To improve the AR coating effect of the PV modules, we have characterized the individual PV modules by the measurements of DC power output, modified performance ratio(PRm) and the regression. The results show that the significant improvements of the AR coating effect are 6.4%, 5.5% and 4.5% of increasing of the performances by using the measurements of DC power output, modified performance ratio(PRm) and the regression, respectively.

  • This paper proposes a force reflection control method with a speed saturation compensation scheme for the slave manipulators having a speed saturation due to the high reduction ratio joints. When speed saturation is generated, the proposed force reflection control method not only shows an anti-windup feature in controlling the slave manipulator but also makes the master manipulator move slowly using the force reflection caused by saturation. In this way, the position of the slave manipulator tracks the reference position regardless of speed saturation. The experimental results show that the proposed control method provides excellent performance.

  • Solar cell is a device that converts photon energy into electrical energy. Therefore, absorption of solar spectrum light is one of the most important characteristics to design the solar cell structures. Various methods have emerged to reduce optical losses, such as textured surfaces, back contact solar cells, anti-reflection layers. Here, the anti-reflection coating (ARC) layer is typically utilized whose refractive index value is between air (~1) and silicon (~4) such as SiNx layer (~1.9). This research is to print a material called polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) to form a double anti-reflection layer. Light with wavelength in the range of 0.3 to 1.2 micrometers does not share a wavelength with solar cells. It is confirmed that the refractive index of PDMS (~1.4) is an ARC layer which decreases the reflectance of light absorption region on typical p-type solar cells with SiNx layer surface. Optimized PDMS printing with analyzing optical property for cell structure can be the effective way against outer effects by encapsulation.

  • Silicon nitride films for an anti-reflection coating were deposited on silicon via RF magnetron sputtering using a $Si_3N4$ target. The best result was obtained at the sputtering condition of 340 W RF power, 5 mtorr Ar atmosphere, $100^{\circ}C$ substrate temperature. The films showed 7.9% reflectance minimum with 2.35 refractive index. 0.21 absorption coefficient at 66.6 nm thickness. The surface morphology showed a smooth and dense film with good adhesion to silicon surface.

  • Anti-reflection properties of post diffusion doped spin-on source (in-situ AR coating) have been investigated in some detail. A simple experiment for reflectivity study using oblique incidence of light and necessary modification of the theory of minimum reflectivity at oblique incidence has been established. The comparative study of the in-situ AR coating with available spin-on AR film on silicon Solar Cell Surface have been investigated.

  • In this paper, we have designed the Anti-Reflection (AR) coating for 850, 1310 nm(multi type) and 1310, 1550 nm(multi type) wavelength ranges on the ferrule facet of special optical connector. The reflectance of the AR coated ferrule facet is designed under 5% for 850, 1310 nm(multi type) and 1310, 1550 nm (multi type). AR thin film was deposited by ion- assisted deposition in low temperature. The average return loss of the AR coated ferrule facet is 47.1 dB.

  • We focused on light management technology in amorphous silicon solar cells to suppress increase in absorber thickness for improving power conversion efficiency (PCE). $MgF_2$ and $TiO_2$ anti-reflection layers were coated on both sides of Asahi VU ($glass/SnO_2:F$) substrates, which contributed to increase in PCE from 9.16% to 9.81% at absorber thickness of only 150 nm. Also, we applied very thin $MgF_2$ as a rear reflector at n-type nanocrystalline silicon oxide/Ag interface to boost photocurrent. By reinforcing rear reflection, we could find the PCE increase from 10.08% up to 10.34% based on thin absorber about 200 nm.

  • We have investigated the effect of the quality of 1.3 um distributed feed back laser diode (DFB-LD) on the design of anti-reflection (AR) coatings. Optimal condition of AR coating to prevent internal feedback from both facets and reduce the reflection-induced intensity noise of laser diode was simulated with Macleod Simulator. Coating materials used in this work were ${Ti_3}{O_5}$ and $SiO_2$, of which design thickness were 105 nm and 165 nm, respectively. AR coating films were deposited by Ion-Assisted Deposition system. The electrical and optical properties of 1.3 um laser diode were characterized by Bar tester and Chip tester. Threshold current and slop-efficiency of DFB-LD were 27.56 mA 0.302 W/A. Far field pattern and wavelength of DFB-LD were $22.3^{\circ}(Horizontal){\times}24.4^{\circ}$ (Vertical), 1313.8 nm, respectively.

  • DSSCs (dye-sensitized solar cells) based on $TiO_2/SiO_2$ multi layer AR (anti-reflection) coating on the outer glass FTO (fluorine-doped tin oxide) substrate are investigated. We have coated an AR layer on the surface of a DSSCs device by using an IAD (ion beam-assisted deposition) system and investigated the effects of the AR layer by measuring photovoltaic performance. Compared to the pure FTO substrate, the multi layer AR coating increased the total transmittance from 67.4 to 72.9% at 530 nm of wavelength. The main enhancement of solar conversion efficiency is attributed to the reduction of light reflection at the FTO substrate surface. This leads to the increase of Jsc and the efficiency improvement of DSSCs.

  • In this study, rapid cooling method was proposed to improve the anti-scratch performance of anti-reflection film fabricated by nanoimprint lithography. Effects of cooling time on the mechanical properties and optical properties were evaluated. Pencil hardness measurements showed that anti-scratch performance enhanced as the cooling time increased while characterization on the optical property showed that reflectance on scratch increased as the cooling time increased. Therefore, it was concluded that the anti-scratch performance and optical properties are highly influenced by the cooling time. The observed results explained in terms of residual stress and free volume in polymeric materials.
