We propose a small active antenna to receive Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals, i.e., Global Positioning System (GPS) L1 (1,575MHz) and Russian Global Navigation Satellite System (GLONASS) L1 (1,600 MHz) signals. A two-stage low-noise amplifier (LNA) with more than 27 dB gain is implemented in the bottom layer of a three-layer antenna package. In addition, a hybrid coupler is used to combine signals from pair of proximately coupled orthogonal feeds with $90^{\circ}$ phase difference to achieve the circular polarization (CP) characteristic. Three layers of high permittivity (${\varepsilon}_r=10$) substrates are stacked and effectively integrated to have a small dimension of $64mm{\times}64mm{\times}7.42mm$ (including both circuit and antenna). The reflection coefficient of the fabricated antenna at the target frequency is below -10 dB, the measured antenna gain is above 26 dBic and the measured noise figure is less than 1.4 dB.
The public open signals from Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) including Global positioning system (GPS) are used widely by many peoples in the world except for the public regulated restriction signals which are encrypted. Nowadays there are growing concerns about GNSS signal spoofing which can deceive the GNSS receivers by abusing these open services. To counter these spoofing threats, many researches have been studied including array antenna techniques which can detect the direction of arrival by means of Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC) algorithm. Originally the array antenna techniques were developed to countermeasure the jamming signal in electronic warfare by using the nulling or beamforming algorithm toward a certain direction. In this paper, we study the anti-spoofing techniques using array antenna to overcome the jamming and spoofing issues simultaneously. First, we will present the theoretical analysis results of spoofing signal response of Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR) algorithm in array antenna. Then the eigenvector algorithm of covariance matrix is suggested and verified to work with the existing anti-jamming method. The modeling and simulation are used to verify the effectiveness of the anti-spoofing algorithm. Also, the field test results show that the array antenna system with the proposed algorithms can perform the anti-spoofing function. This anti-spoofing method using array antenna is very effective in the view point of solving both the jamming and spoofing problems using the same array antenna hardware.
This paper presents a new dualband shared-aperture microstrip antenna to operate in the S-Band of 2 GHz and X-Band of 8 GHz, for a Low Earth Orbit satellite antenna system. The proposed antenna incorporates two types of patches those are a rectangular loop-shaped for the S-Band and a square patch for the X-Band. Each patch are optimized for its respective operating band with minimal interference. The proposed antenna achieves a bandwidth of 16 MHz in the S-Band and 572 MHz in the X-Band. The highest gain is measured 7.14 dBi at 1.99 GHz and 7.95 dBi at 7.88 GHz. The proposed antenna exhibits half power beamwidths of 85 degree and 80 degree at 1.99 GHz and 7.88 GHz, respectively. The proposed dualband shared-aperture microstrip antenna may be a good candidate for as a feeding system of a dualband reflectarray antenna With its unidirectional radiation pattern from excellent agreement between simulation and measurement results.
The weight of an antenna system pointing satellite on the mobile platform is restricted by the weight limit of the mobile platform. The maximum power of the actuator driving the antenna system is thus limited because a high power actuator needs a heavier weight. Thus, a drive system is designed to have a low torque requirement by reducing the gravitational torque depending on gravity or acceleration of the mobile platform, including vibration, shock, and accelerated motion. To reduce the gravitational torque, the mathematical model of the gravitational torque is preferentially obtained. However, the method to directly estimate the mathematical model in an antenna system has not previously been reported. In this paper, a method is proposed to estimate the gravitational torque as a mathematical model in the antenna system. Additionally, a method is also proposed to calculate the optimal weight of the balancing weight to compensate for the gravitational torque.
At COMS SOC, 13m antenna system will serve to transmit command and receive telemetry in S-Band for COMS operation. In addition, Sensor Data and LRIT/HRIT in L-Band will be received and LRIT/HRIT in S-Band will be transmitted through this antenna system. In many cases, G/T is used as barometer to estimate the receiving capability of antenna system. To estimate G/T, this paper presents two approaches, one is analysis based on the specification of antenna and RF equipment while the other is measurement by using Sun. From the results, G/T was proven as more than 20dB/K and it means that the required G/T, 19dB/K is verified successfully.
A beam steering system of X-band 2-D phased array antenna for radar application is developed. The beam steering system consists of real-time command generator, beam steering unit, control PCB of array module and power supply. It plays a role of beam steering and on-line check of phased array antenna. The performance of beam steering system is verified with pulse timing of current control in phase shifters and measurement of far-field of phased array antenna. The developed beam steering system offers basic technology to develop full-scale beam steering system of multi-function radar.
In this paper, the measurements of received power was shown and compared in two developed 5.8GHz 25W wireless charging systems. One is the system using commercial transmission antenna, and the other is the system using transmission antenna combined with metamaterial. The system combined with metamaterial shows higher received power due to negative reflective index of metamaterial. In addition, a comparative analysis of the systems shows that the transmission efficiency in the systems can decrease the real gain of transmission antenna due to higher side robe of beam pattern. The side robe beams of transmitting antenna interferes transmitted beam with the reflected beams from the bottom region due to the side robes. The failure problems of the RF wireless charging systems are discussed and proposed in order to charge mobile devices through the RF wireless charging system.
This paper, designed UWB elliptical slot antenna and analysis based on the distribution of the electromagnetic fields pattern and resonant mode of designed antenna is presented. Designed antenna is fabricated on FR4 substrate with thickness of 1.524mm and relative dielectric constant 4.4. The measured bandwidth of $3.6GHz{\sim}20GHz$ for VSWR<2. Through the field pattern and resonant mode analysis that the slot antenna operates on a series of the multi-pole radiation based on TE modes matched to system impedance. And the perfect magnetic wall is along the axis of symmetry on the y-z plane. This result gives us an easier method to design the similar antennas, which is the impedance matching to the system impedance after once constructing a proper structure with a series of multi-mode resonances.
