  • In this paper, delay diffusion for exhibition hall and conference room was measured and analyzed in the indoor environment of the building. Scenarios for the indoor environment of the two buildings were written. also, the system configuration and measurement methods were conducted under the same conditions. The measurement conditions were set to 3 GHz and 6 GHz of center frequencies and analysis band selected 2 GHz. The measurement system consisted of vector network analyzer, power amplifier, omni-directional transmit and receive antenna, and transmission line. According to the indoor environment scenario of the two buildings, the location of the receiving antenna was divided into three zones based on the location of the transmitting antenna and this was measured at 1 m intervals according to 18 locations. The power delay profiles, RMS delay spread, and K-factor results of two buildings were compared and analyzed.

  • This paper presents the dual resonance PIFA(Planar Inverted F-Antenna) which satisfies the requirements of the 802.11n standard at both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands. Patch for 2.4 GHz and U-Type slot for 5 GHz were used for dual resonance, respectively. In this paper, the characteristics of an antenna were investigated by varying locations of short plate and feed point, the width of the short plate, the thickness and the location of U-Type slot. To investigate the characteristics of the PIFA, HFSS(High Frequency Structure Simulation) for the simulation was used. And the measurement results of a fabricated PIFA were compared with the simulated ones. The measurement and simulation results show that good dual resonance characteristics as the thickness of U-type slot decreases and when the location of U-type slot is far from the feed point.

  • Microwave tomographic imaging technology using a bi-focusing operator has been developed in order to detect the internal voids/objects inside concrete structures. The imaging system consists of several cylindrical or planar array antennas for transmitting and receiving signals, and a numerical focusing operator is applied to the external signals both in transmitting and in receiving fields. In this study, the authors developed 3-dimensional (3D) electromagnetic (EM) imaging technology to detect such damage and to identify exact location of steel rebars or dowel. The authors have developed sub-surface two-dimensional (2D) imaging technique using tomographic antenna array in previous works. In this study, extending the earlier analytical and experimental works on 2D image reconstruction, a 3D microwave imaging system using tomographic antenna way was developed, and multi-frequency technique was applied to improve quality of the reconstructed image and to reduce background noises. Numerical simulation demonstrated that a sub-surface image can be successfully reconstructed by using the proposed tomographic imaging technology. For the experimental verification, a prototype antenna array was fabricated and tested on a concrete specimen.

  • In this paper, we have proposed a tapered slot antenna for IR-UWB communication system suitable of indoor positioning in the building. The designed tapered slot antenna is designed using Ansys Inc. HFSS and its standing wave ratio, return loss, and radiation pattern is analyzed. In 2.36 GHz ~ 5.51 GHz and, the designed antenna shows satisfactory return loss at -10 dB and meets the requirement of $VSWR{\leq}2$. The presented designed showed a higher sensitivity for the end-fire propagation characteristics in a specific direction across all bands of the radiation pattern.

  • In the environment where various and complicated threat signals exist, RWR (Radar Warning Receiver), which can warn pilot of the existence of threats, has long been a necessary electronic warfare (EW) system to improve survivability of aircraft. The angle of arrival (AOA) information, the most reliable sorting parameter in the RWR, is measured by means of four-quadrant amplitude comparison direction finding (DF) technique. Each of four antennas (usually spiral antenna) of DF unit covers one of four quadrant zones, with 90 degrees apart with nearby antenna. According to the location of antenna installed in helicopter, RWR is subject to signal loss and interference by helicopter body and structures including tail bumper, rotor blade, and so on, causing a difficulty of detecting hostile emitters. In this paper, the performance degradation caused by signal interference by tail rotor blades has been estimated by measuring amplitude video signals into which RWR converts RF signals in case a part of antenna is screened by real tail rotor blade in anechoic chamber. The results show that corruption of pulse amplitude (PA) is main cause of DF error. We have proposed two algorithms for resolving the interference by tail rotor blades as below: First, expand the AOA group range for pulse grouping at the first signal analysis phase. Second, merge each of pulse trains with the other, that signal parameter except PRI and AOA is similar, after the first signal analysis phase. The presented method makes it possible to use RWR by reducing interference caused by blade screening in case antenna is screened by tail rotor blades.

  • Omni-directional antennas of UHF-Band are located on the top and bottom side of the Smart UAV in order to connect a link always. Therefore one of each antennas should be connected to a ground antenna. Because the communication link of the omni-directional antennas is influenced by the objectives around aircraft, the clearance of LOS(Line of Sight) should be achieved in order to avoid a loss of link. In this paper, the analysis results on the influence of the complex objectives placed around the antenna on the communication link are presented according to the change of attitude angles. The best positions of antennas are selected based on the electromagnetic analysis using XGTD tool which supports the modeling of antenna pattern. The flight tests of the Smart UAV were successfully performed with the selected antenna position.

A microstrip patch antennas which supports dual-band (GPS and GLONASS) was optimized. The antenna size is $25{\times}25{\times}5[mm]$. A chip monopole antennas which supports dual-band (GSM and WCDMA) was optimized. The antenna size is $27{\times}8{\times}3.2[mm]$. To amplify the Satellite reception signal level, two-stage low noise amplifier(LNA) was designed. The LNA gain is 27[dB]. The size of Jig for antennas measuring is $100{\times}30{\times}1[mm]$.

  • This study proposes an optimal condition to recognize a train using RFID. In order to recognize a moving train, bandwidth, an angle of antenna and the location of a tag should be considered. In this study, a field test was conducted using two different bandwidths (900MHz and 2.45GHz), four angles of antenna(0, 30, 45, and $60^{\circ}$), different velocities (10, 30 and 50km), and three different locations of tags. The field test verified the optimal condition for recognition of a train, The present study convinced that location detection and tracking of rail freight can be monitored in real time. The present technology can be applied to railway signals including detecting and tracking such as EURO Balis.

  • In the direction and location finding field of application, AOA, TDOA and FDOA, etc. are used to improve the performance of geolocation. But, these methods cause some limitations such as the calibrations for phase and amplitude matching and precise time synchronization among receiving channels. In this paper, We suggest a method for generating FDOA using rotating antenna and the geolocation of stationary emitter using two receivers in one platform for minimizing the limitations. We present performance of simulation results and test results of the FDOA geolocation system. The direction finding errors of the system are less than $0.1^{\circ}$ rms and the distance errors are less than 3 % compared with the practical distance.
