A Study on Flow Characteristics about Valve Filter for Electronic System Solenoid Structure (차량용 전자식 솔레노이드 밸브 필터간의 유동특성에 관한 연구)

  • Comparative analysis study of the flow characteristics and the experiment was done to try to present the orientation of the solenoid structure to be produced in the future. The comparative analysis of the analysis and experimental values was performed using the experiments and ANSYS CFD. 3D modeling of the structure are designed by the CATIA V5R18, meshing process of the flow section was used by ICEM CFD program. Flow rate was indicated by using the experimental values appear in $0-10{\ell}/min$, the result of the flow analysis, was $0.18{\ell}/min$ Max. It was possible to suggest a solenoid structure more efficient through comparative analysis of experimental values and flow analysis.

  • This study is focused on the comparison of a 3 dimensional numerical and hydraulic model experiment for the flow phenomenon when a lock gate is opened. The lock gate is designed to discharge the flood flow rate at $218m^3/s$ of Solicheon at the Kun Jang national industry complex. The three dimensional ${\kappa}-{\epsilon}$ turbulent model of ANSYS CFX-10 of the computational fluid dynamics(CFD) program was used. The characteristics of CFX-10 are able to be simulated effectively for turbulent flow, especially the flow separation of the boundary layer of the two phase interface of air and water. The velocity and the flow pattern of the numerical model was showed to be similar to the results of the hydraulic model experiment.

  • Prior to the experimental and production stages of goods, the strengths should be evaluated in the design stage. The introduction of commercial codes at the design stage gives benefits such as cost and time economies in the production and strength evaluation. In this study, structural analysis and fatigue analysis are carried out using ANSYS modeling of the 3D geometry of the wheel. In a comparison of dish-type and spoke-type wheels, it is shown that the deformation and maximum equivalent stress for the dish-type wheels are lower than those for spoke-type wheels. Nevertheless, spoke-type wheels are often used because they are light and have exhibit excellent cooling performance. Furthermore, according to the results of life analysis, aluminum wheels show improved resistance to fatigue compared to steel wheels.

  • The rail clamp is the device to prevent that a crane slips along rails due to the wind blast as well as to locate the crane in the set position for loading and unloading containers. The wedge typed rail clamp should be designed to consider the structural stability and the durability because it compresses both rail side with large clamping force by the wedge working as the wind speed increases. In this research, the design of experiments(DOE) and the variation technology(VT) built in ANSYS WORKBENCH are utilized to determine the optimum shape of a jaw. The optimum results obtained by two methods are compared and examined.

  • Finite element method (FEM) is an effective quantitative method to solve complex engineering problems. The basic idea of FEM for a complex problem is to be able to find a solution by reducing the problem made simple. If mathematical tools are inadequate to obtain precise result, even approximate result, FEM is the only method that can be used for structural analyses. In FEM, the domain is divided into a large number of simple, small and interconnected sub-regions called finite elements. FEM has been used commonly for linear and nonlinear analyses of different types of structures to give us accurate results of plane stress and plane strain problems in civil engineering area. In this paper, FEM is used to investigate stress analysis of a shear wall which is subjected to concentrated loads and fundamental principles of stress analysis of the shear wall are presented by using matrix displacement method in this paper. This study is consisting of two parts. In the first part, the shear wall is discretized with constant strain triangular finite elements and stiffness matrix and load vector which is attained from external effects are calculated for each of finite elements using matrix displacement method. As to second part of the study, finite element analysis of the shear wall is made by ANSYS software program. Results obtained in the second part are presented with tables and graphics, also results of each part is compared with each other, so the performance of the matrix displacement method is demonstrated. The solutions obtained by using the proposed method show excellent agreements with the results of ANSYS. The results show that this method is effective and preferable for the stress analysis of shell structures. Further studies should be carried out to be able to prove the efficiency of the matrix displacement method on the solution of plane stress problems using different types of structures.

  • Horizontal thin-film thermoelectric cooler has been simulated using a commercial software (ANSYS Workbench Thermal-electric). The thermoelectric cooler consists of thin-film n-type $Bi_2Te_3$, p-type $Sb_2Te_3$ thermoelectric elements, and Au electrode, respectively. The hot spot was placed under the center of device which represents Joule heating. Numerical analysis was conducted by geometric variable, and a maximum temperature difference of $13^{\circ}C$ was obtained. As from the simulation parameters, we presented an optimized design for high efficiency cooling.

  • Gear pump has a simple structure high reliability, easy operation and maintenance, widely used as a source of hydraulic system of hydraulic. In general, the gear pump was designed using variety of variables, the variables through the analysis of the mass flow rate and efficiency. In this paper, three-dimensional flow of the gear pump, in order to produce the optimal design of product, analysis was performed by using commercial software ANSYS v15.0 CFX. And then, combination of design parameters selected by ANSYS was carried out to confirm the simulation result. The efficiency and mass flow rate of the gear pump were studied by varying its rotational speed and the clearance between the gear tip and the housing. In the simulation results, as the rotational speed were increased, the average mass flow rate and efficiency increased. Furthermore, as the clearance between the gear tip and the housing was increased, the average mass flow rate and efficiency decreased.

  • In this study, the pumping performance of a piezoelectric valveless micropump is simulated. The micropump, which was developed in the previous work, is composed of a four-layer lightweight piezocomposite actuator, a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) pump chamber, and two diffusers. The piezoelectric domain, the fluid domain and the structural domain are coupled in the three-dimensional simulation. We used ANSYS for the piezoelectric and structural domains and ANSYS CFX for the fluid domain. The effects of driven frequency on the flow rate have been investigated by simulating the flow characteristics for 10 Hz and 40 Hz driven frequencies. The flow rates with respect to driven frequencies up to 300 Hz have been calculated.

  • A standing grinder with a vacuum dust collection, which works grinding a surface and collecting dust occurred simultaneously, is needed to clean the surface before painting, or to remove a weld bead burr in the industrial field. In recent it trends to be compact and potable with high grinding and dust collection power, and low noise. As increasing these grinding and dust collection power, the noise and weight of standing grinder occurs an important problem. To solve these problem, an efficient cyclone separator was designed and developed by Ansys-CFX analysis and experiments. A weight of the developed grinder part was 5.9kg, which can be easily handled on standing by workers. and a noise level of the developed prototype was measured 69.9 dB(A).

A Numerical Investigation for Prediction of Shock Deceleration of Conical Impactor in Gas-Gun Tests (가스건 시험에서 원추형 충격자의 충격 감가속도 예측에 관한 전산해석적 연구)

  • In this study, a numerical investigation is conducted for the shock deceleration prediction of a conical impactor in gas-gun tests. With the development of weapon systems, gas-gun tests are required to validate the survivability and structural reliability of devices under test (DUT) in high-G shock environments, such as those over ten thousand Gs or more. As shock endurance is highly influenced by various bird parameters, such as mass, velocity, and pressure, it is important to determine the appropriate test conditions to generate a high-G shock environment. However, experimental repetitive studies are inefficient to validate test conditions in terms of economic aspects. Therefore, a numerical technique is required to replace experimental gas-gun tests. Here, a numerical investigation is conducted with ANSYS AUTODYN using explicit code. Through this investigation, the dynamic behavior of DUT is presented. In addition, the results of numerical studies are verified through a comparison with the experimental results of a gas-gun test.
