  • Customer satisfaction is generally assumed to be a significant determinant of repeat sales, positive word-of-mouth, and customer loyalty. Therefore most companies in telecommunication industry have tried to satisfy customers with high quality at low price in Korea. Even though these efforts have been tried by companies, customers are not satisfied with discrepancy between their expectation and perceived quality. Moreover, the expectation has dynamic and variable characteristics in results from various effects such n technical progress, improved quality and promotions by companies, word-of-mouth, and so on, Therefore, there are not political leverages in assessing the quality and surveying customer satisfaction index in a point of time. As an initial attempt to tackle the questions listed above, this paper puts an effort to make a dynamic customer satisfaction model to understand customer satisfaction in variable situations by introducing 'systems thinking'.

  • Since the sub-prime mortgage crisis from the US in 2008, the Korean housing market has plummeted. However, the deposit prices of the Korean local lease contract, Chonsei, had been increasing. This increase of Chonsei prices can be a threat to low-income people, most of whom prefer to live in houses with a Chonsei contract. In the housing and Chonsei market, there are many stakeholders with their own interest, hence, simple thoughts about housing and Chonsei market, such as more house supply, will decrease house price, would not work in a real complex housing market. In this research, we suggests system dynamics conceptual model which consists of causal-loop-diagrams for the Chonsei market as well as the housing market. In conclusion, the Chonsei price has its own homeostasis characteristics and different price behavior with housing price in the short and long term period. We found that unless government does not have a structural causation mind in implementing policies in the real estate market, the government may not attain their intended effectiveness on both markets.

  • We applies Molecular Dynamics simulation technics to a system of Lennard-Jones potential interacting Argon liquid to study shear flow behavior. The thermodynamic state of the system is .rho.=35.54 Kg, mole/m$^{3}$, T=86.5.deg. K which is the triple point of Argon liquid. We applies shear rate : .epsilon.=9.26*10$^{9}$ 1/sec in the system. We find the response function, shear viscosity changes, and shear rate build-up as a function of time. We also find the thermal conductivity in a soft-sphere system.

  • To improve the performance of the tracked vehicle system, we examined the feasibility of using the preview control for the tracked vehicles suspension system. We proposed a method to apply a linear optimal preview control to the tracked vehicle system. To avoid the complexity of modeling the track subsystem and kinematical nonlinearity in the trailing arm suspension, we classified these as unknown dynamics and disturbances. We used the Time Delay Control(TDC) method to make sprung mass dynamics follow that of linear preview controlled tracked vehicle model by compensating the uncertainties and disturbances. We have verified by the computer simulation that the proposed method shows good robus...

  • This paper describes a transfer matrix approach to analyze the dynamics of a high sped flexible rotor system supported at 2 positions by five ceramic bearings. The rotor system is modelled as lumped parameters in which many factors are considered not only lumped inertia or mass, bending moment, shear force but also gyroscopic effect and unbalance. The equation of motion is derived in the transfer matrix form, from which the eigenvalues equation is also derived. The transfer natural frequencies and modes. The eigenvalues, eigenmodes, campbell diagram, whirling critical speed, whirling modes, and the response of unbalance are calculated and discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze Foreign Exchange(FX) exposure and FX hedge strategy based on the systems thinking perspective using causal loop diagrams. FX exposure has been a critical issue on a business management. Many studies in Korea have researches on variables which make effects to the company value. This study displays causal loop diagrams(CLDs) on these issues. In order to make CLD more objective, most causalities are articulated from recent 72 studies (1998~2013) of domestic top journals. This approach is valuable in that it is the first try to draw all the causalities from various literature review regarding FX exposure and FX hedge strategy. This study is expected to make a useful and basic material to research the financial issues of corporate, as the first research to dynamically understand FX exposure and FX hedge strategy.

  • There have been many researches for optimal controllers in multivariable systems, and they generally use accurate linear models of the plant dynamics. Real systems, however, contain nonlinearities and high-order dynamics that may be difficult to model using conventional techniques. Therefore, it is necessary a PID gain tuning method without explicit modeling for the multivariable plant dynamics. The PID tuning method utilizes the sign of Jacobian and gradient descent techniques to iteratively reduce the error-related objective function. This paper, especially, focuses on the role of I-controller when there is a steady state error. However, it is not easy to tune I-gain unlike P- and D-gain because I-controller is mainly operated in the steady state. Simulations for an overhead crane system with dynamic friction show that the proposed PID-LC algorithm improves controller performance, even in the steady state error.

  • A new reconfigurable model following flight control method based on direct adaptive scheme is presented. Using the timescale separation principle, both the inner-loop and the outer-loop states are controlled simultaneously. For the timescale separation assumption to be satisfied, the inner-loop model dynamics is set to be fast whereas the outer-loop model dynamics is set to be relatively slow. The stability and convergence of the proposed control law is proved by Lyapunov theorem. One of the merits of the proposed reconfigurable controller is that the FDI process and the persistent input excitation are not necessary, which is suitable for the flight control system. To evaluate the reconfiguration performance of the proposed control method, numerical simulation is performed using six degree-of-freedom nonlinear dynamics.

  • The purpose of this study is to illuminate the reason why community building policies by the Government seem to fail to work properly in Korea. The existing studies focus mainly on designing community building systems, thus they cannot provide plausible explanations about the cause of the unsuccessful outcomes from the policies. To overcome the limitations of the existing studies, the authors examine the implementation factors to influence the policy instruments with the perspective of policy implementation. By performing the analysis, the results imply the implementation factors, such as executer's competence, supports by related interests, incentive systems, and legal-institutional instruments, are important to influence the implementation performance of the relevant policy instruments. To make community building successful policies, The authors therefore suggest that the capacity of local administrators and residents should be raise, and one of which the way to enhance is to support research and program development by the resident-oriented living laboratory systems in localities.

  • Many countries in the North East Asia are competing with each other in order to become a centre of international logistics activities. The competition to become a hub port in Far East region is now fierce. The anticipated investments on improving port facilities and attracting the mega carriers are immense for all the ports in the region and the extent of the effort could cripple the local ports and region's economy given the limited financial resources. It is, however, impossible to avoid the disastrous possibility that the massive investments could be channeled into the port, which will never become a hub port, as no port is ready to currently admit defeat and settle as a small regional port. In an attempt to minimise such disastrous waste of resources, ports need to verify the eligibility of their own. This paper tests a system dynamics model using the Port of Busan to understand and illustrate the principle guideline of investment decision making for ports.
