스트레인게이지 센서용 데이터획득시스템의 개발 (Development of Data Acquisition System for Strain Gauge Sensor)

  • This research suggested a development of a Data Acquisition System for strain gauge sensor which enables the usage of portable device in the various engineering field that includes, a strain indicator which is frequently used in civil and mechanical engineering, and a GUI function of data acquisition device. The developed system can record 16 channels of strain gauges at a time and its resolution is over 16 bits which can be used effectively in the actual field.

  • A strain gauge weight measuring instrumentation system was designed with RF sensor network facilities. In the sensor module system data conversion and a series of signal processing were totally equipped. 16 strain gauges are incoming sensors and each output of the strain gauge was amplified and filtered for proper analog signal processing. Several measuring instrumentation OP amps and general purposed OP amps were used. 12 bits A/D converters converted analog signals to digital bits and a PIC microprocessor controlled the 16 channels of strain gauges. RF RS232 modules were used for wireless communication between the PIC microprocessor and an Ethernet host far a remote sensor monitoring system development.

  • FBG sensor의 다중 측정성을 이용하여 모르타르 시편의 열 변형률과 온도 변화를 동시에 측정하였다. 또한, 광섬유 격자 센서를 이용하여, 열 변화에 따른 모르타르 시편의 내부 온도 구배를 측정하였다. 열 변형률을 기존 strain gauge와 함께 측정하였을 때, strain gauge는 섭씨 60도 이상의 온도에서 오차를 보이는 반면, FBG 센서는 안정된 측정값을 나타냈다. FBG 온도 sensor로 측정한 온도 변화량은 thermocouple로 측정한 값과 비교하였으며, 선형적인 대응관계를 보였다.

  • 군 무기체계에 널리 적용되는 4축 스트레인 게이지는 열악한 온도와 진동조건에서 운용되기 때문에 오차가 커지게 되고, 오동작을 일으킬 수 있다. 이를 개선하기 위해 본 논문에서는 군 무기체계에 적용되는 4축 스트레인 게이지의 오차에 대한 신호처리 소프트웨어 기법을 제안한다. 첫째, 주위 온도에 따른 스트레인-게이지의 오차와 신호처리회로의 오차를 평가하고 분석하였고, 둘째, 스트레인-게이지의 오차를 개선할 수 있는 불감대 영역과 오프셋 영역의 처리에 대한 소프트웨어 기법을 제안한다. 소프트웨어 기법을 적용한 실험결과는 온도시험과 운용시험에서 정상적으로 동작하는 것을 확인하였다. 따라서, 제안한 소프트웨어 기법은 타당하므로, 스트레인-게이지를 사용하여 시스템을 설계할 때 주위 온도와 진동에 따른 오차 개선에 유용한 정보로 사용될 수 있다.

컨테이너박스용 용접선 추적거동에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Seam Tracking Behavior for container box's welding)

  • The probe type sensor using strain gauges was used to track a container box's seam in this paper. A strain gauge has a property which the specific resistance is changed by varying of the sectional area and length when tensile and compressive stresses are generated at the strain gauge. We designed the automatic seam tracking device by attaching the probe type strain gauge sensor, motor driving slide, encorder to check the moving distance and interface card connected MPU upside the speed controllable carriage. The folded work piece for a container box is made to examine whether the device can track the seam automatically or not. Seam tracking experiments were done by changing the carriage moving speed at 300. 400. 500. 600[mm/min] each as the voltage of side track was 2.5[V]. We compared and analyzed the sampling data which is obtained by output voltage of strain gauge sensor and rotary encorder pulse every 100 [m/s]. The welding experiments were performed by using $CO_2$ welding machine about the carriage moving speed that has good seam tracking condition in the seam tracking experiments above. And we compared the seam tracking status.

  • 교량의 안전성과 사용성을 검토하기 위해서는 외적 하중에 대한 구조 부재의 거동 특성과 정확한 저항 능력 평가가 반드시 고려 되어야 한다. 구조 부재의 거동 특성과 저항능력을 평가하기 위해서는 구조물의 변형률과 변위가 반드시 측정 되어야 한다. 변형률 측정을 위해서 전기 저항식 변형률 게이지를 사용하는 것이 보통이다. 그러나 교량의 교각이 높고, 장지간을 갖는 경우 변형률 게이지 부착은 매우 어렵고 경제적이지 못하다. 또한 구조 부재에 균열이 많이 발생되어 있거나 습윤 상태라면 전기 저항식 변형률 게이지에 의한 변형률 계측은 추천할만한 방법이 못된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 이러한 단점을 보완 할수 있도록 측정 변위를 이용한 변형률 해석 알고리즘을 제안 하였다.

Silicon Strain Gauge Load Cell for Weighting Disdrometer

  • In this paper, the usability of a compact silicon strain gauge load cell in a weighting disdrometer for measuring the impact load of a falling raindrop is introduced for application in a multi-meteorological sensor. The silicon strain gauge load cell is based on the piezoresistive effect, which has a high linearity output from the momentum of the raindrop and the simplicity of signal processing. The weighting disdrometer shows a high sensitivity of 7.8 mV/g in static load measurement when the diaphragm thickness of the load cell is $250{\mu}m$.

Carbon fiber-based long-gauge sensors monitoring the flexural performance of FRP-reinforced concrete beams

  • Long-gauge carbon fiber line (CFL) sensors have received considerable attention in the past decade. However, there is still a need for an in-depth investigation of their measuring accuracy. This study investigates the accuracy of carbon fiber line sensors to monitor and differentiate the flexural behavior of two beams, one reinforced with steel bars alone and the other reinforced with steel and basalt fiber-reinforced polymer bars. A distributed set of long-gauge carbon fiber line, Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG), and traditional strain gauge sensors was mounted on the tensile concrete surface of the studied beams to compare the results and assess the accuracies of the proposed sensors. The test beams were loaded monotonically under four-point bending loading until failure. Results indicated the importance of using long-gauge sensors in providing useful, accurate, and reliable information regarding global structural behavior, while point sensors are affected by local damage and strain concentrations. Furthermore, long-gauge carbon fiber line sensors demonstrated good agreement with the corresponding Fiber Bragg Grating sensors with acceptable accuracy, thereby exhibiting potential for application in monitoring the health of large-scale structures.

풍력발전기 블레이드 변형 측정을 위한 액체금속 스트레인 게이지 개발 (Development of Liquid Metal Strain Gauge for Measuring WT Blade's Deformation)

  • In this paper, the embedding type novel liquid metal strain gauge was developed for measuring the deformation of wind turbine blades. In general, the conventional methods for the SHM have many disadvantages such as frequency distortion in FBG sensors, the low gauge factor and mechanical failures in strain gauges and extremely sophisticated filtering in AE sensors. However, the liquid metal filled in a pre-confined micro channel shows dramatic characteristics such as high sensitivity, flexibility and robustnes! s to environment. To adopt such a high feasibility of the liquid metal in flexible sensor applications, the EGaIn was introduced to make flexible liquid metal strain gauges for the SHM. A micro channeled flexible film fabricated by the several MEMS processes and the PDMS replication was filled with EGaIn and wire-connected. Lots of experiments were conducted to investigate the performance of the developed strain gauges and verify the feasibility to the actual wind turbine blades health monitoring.

고온 스트레인 게이지용 질화탄탈박막의 제작 (Fabrication of Tantalum Nitride Thin-Film as High-temperature Strain Gauges)

  • This paper presents the characteristics of Ta-N thin-film strain gauges as high-temperature strain gauges, which were deposited on Si substrate by DC reactive magnetron sputtering in an argon-nitrogen atmosphere(Ar-(4∼16 %)N$_2$). These films were annealed for 1 hour in 2x10$\^$-6/ Torr vaccum furnace range 500∼1000$^{\circ}C$. The optimized conditions of Ta-N thin-film strain gauges were annealing condition(900$^{\circ}C$, 1 hr.) in 8% N$_2$ gas flow ratio deposition atmosphere. Under optimum conditions, the Ta-N thin-films for strain gauges is obtained a high resistivity, $\rho$=768.93 ${\mu}$Ω cm, a low temperature coefficient of resistance, TCR=-84 ppm/$^{\circ}C$ and a high temporal stability with a good longitudinal gauge factor, GF=4.12.
