  • Recently, we are concerned about car energy efficiency because of high Price of oil. Hybrid cars are manufactured and used. Now most cars use BLDC Motor, but these motors generate cogging phenomenon due to its frame. As a result, cars are low efficiency and occur noise and vibration. In this paper, 1KW Double Cylinder Motor which is high efficiency, low noise and vibration by its no slot structure was designed and manufactured for a Hybrid car.

  • BLDCMs are widely used in many industries. In certain specialized areas, they need to have high efficiency, high power rate and produce a low volume of noise, etc. In this study, a new type of slotless BLDCM is proposed that has no cogging torque, low iron loss and low volume as compared to commonly used BLDCMs. With a high performance magnet and coreless compact winding structure similar to those employed in linear synchronous motors, motor volume is reduced. The proposed motor has been put been through various experiments arid has demonstrated acceptable results for industry applications.

  • This study introduces an efficient readout circuit designed for two-electrode electrocardiogram (ECG) recording, characterized by its low-noise and low-power consumption attributes. Unlike its three-electrode counterpart, the two-electrode ECG is susceptible to common-mode interference (CMI), causing signal distortion. To counter this, the proposed circuit integrates a common-mode charge pump (CMCP) with a window comparator, allowing for a CMI tolerance of up to 20 VPP. The CMCP design prevents the activation of electrostatic discharge (ESD) diodes and becomes operational only when CMI surpasses the predetermined range set by the window comparator. This ensures power efficiency and minimizes intermodulation distortion (IMD) arising from switching noise. To maintain ECG signal accuracy, the circuit employs a chopper-stabilized instrumentation amplifier (IA) for low-noise attributes, and to achieve high input impedance, it incorporates a floating high-pass filter (HPF) and a current-feedback instrumentation amplifier (CFIA). This comprehensive design integrates various components, including a QRS peak detector and serial peripheral interface (SPI), into a single 0.18-㎛ CMOS chip occupying 0.54 mm2. Experimental evaluations showed a 0.59 µVRMS noise level within a 1-100 Hz bandwidth and a power draw of 23.83 µW at 1.8 V.

Efficient Computation of Turbulent Flow Noise at Low Mach Numbers Via Hybrid Method (하이브리드기법을 이용한 저마하수 난류소음의 효율적 전산해석)

  • A hybrid method is presented for efficient computation of turbulent flow noise at low Mach numbers. In this method, the turbulent flow field is computed by incompressible large eddy simulation (LES), while the acoustic field is computed with the linearized perturbed compressible equations (LPCE) derived in this study. Since LPCE is computed on the rather coarse acoustic grid with the flow variables and source term obtained by the incompressible LES, the computational efficiency of calculation is greatly enhanced. Furthermore, LPCE suppress the instability of perturbed vortical mode and therefore secure consistent and stable acoustic solutions. The proposed LES/LPCE hybrid method is applied to three low Mach number turbulent flow noise problems: i) circular cylinder, ii) isolated flat plate, and iii) interaction between cylinder wake and airfoil. The computed results are closely compared with the experimental measurements.

  • A new synchronous switch controlled transient current build-up zero voltage switching (TCB-ZVS) forward converter is proposed. The proposed converter is suitable for the low-voltage and high-current applications. The features of the proposed converter are low conduction loss of magnetizing current, no additional circuit for the ZVS operation, high efficiency, high power density and low EMI noise throughout all load conditions.

  • This paper describes a low noise and high efficiency analog-digital switching mixed mode battery charger for production facilities of Li-Ion batteries. The requirements for battery chargers for production facilities are very strict. The accuracy of output voltage and output current should be below 0.1% with very low ripple current. Therefore analog type linear regulators are widely used for battery charger in spite of their inefficiency and bulkiness. We combined linear regulator as a voltage source with digital switching converter as a dependent current source. Low current ripple and high accuracy are obtained by linear regulator while high efficiency is achieved by digital switching converter. Experimental results show that proposed method has 0.1% ripple and 90% efficiency at an output current of 1A for a battery voltage of 4V.

Comparison of Measurement Methods for Head-related Transfer Function(HRTF) (머리전달함수 측정법의 실험적 비교)

  • Three methods(the stepped sine method, the statistical method(random excitation method) and the maximum-length sequence(MLS) method) for head-related transfer functions(HRTFs) are experimentally compared in view point of accuracy and efficiency. First, the stepped sine method has high signal-to-noise ratio, but low efficiency. Second, the statistical method is fast measurement speed, but weak to noise than the other methods. Finally, the MLS method shows both good efficiency and high signal-to-noise ratio, but it needs additional software or equipment such as MLS signal generator. For comparison of measurement accuracy, HRTFs of KEMAR dummy are measured for various azimuths and elevations. Error norms for magnitude and phase of HRTFs are defined and calculated for the measured HRTFs. The calculated error norms show that the methods give similar results in magnitude and phase except a little phase difference in the MLS method.

  • Developed is a computer program for the prediction of the aero-acoustic performance characteristics such as discharge pressure, efficiency, power and noise level in the basic design step of axial flow fan. The flow field and the aerodynamic performance of fan are analyzed by using the streamline curvature computing scheme with total pressure loss and flow deviation models. Fan noise is assumed to be generated due to the pressure fluctuations induced by wake vortices of fan blades and to radiate via dipole distribution. The vortex-induced fluctuating pressure on blade surface is calculated by combining thin airfoil theory and the predicted flow field data. The predicted aerodynamic performances, sound pressure level and noise directivity patterns of fan by the present computer program are favorably compared with the test data of actual fan. Furthermore, the present computer program is shown to be very useful in optimizing design variables of fan with high efficiency and low noise level and in analyzing their design sensitivities.

  • Objectives : By analyzing symptoms of tinnitus, we tried to find out the relationship between deficiency and excess(虛實) and visceral pattern identification(臟腑辨證). By testing Tinnitus Handicap Inventory(THI), we evaluated the quality of life of people suffering from various aspects of tinnitus, as well as comparing treatment efficiency. Methods : 52 patients were recruited in this study who was ill with tinnitus. They wrote out the questionnaire about tinnitus and the THI. Results : The vast majority of high-grade tiny noise patients are deficiency type(虛症). The vast majority of low-grade roar patients are excess type(實症). Tinnitus persistence and feeling of ear occlusion were prominent in low-grade roar patients. low-grade roar patients suggest that overall quality of life is lower than high-grade tiny noise patients. In terms of treatment efficiency, spleen-stomach weakness(脾胃虛弱)-type, stomach heat(胃熱)-type and phlegm-fire(痰火)-type was higher than kidney essence depletion(腎精虧損)-type and liver qi depression(肝氣鬱結)-type regardless of the aspect of tinnitus. Conclusions : The present study suggests that tinnitus pattern may be helpful in differentiating patients with tinnitus, and the effectiveness of treatment can be predicted through differentiation.
