  • In this study, analytical methods for predicting the long term behavior of steel-concrete composite structures due to creep and shrinkage of concrete are investigated. For structural analysis considering long term behavior, the results are much dependent6 on the predictive models for creep and shrinkage of concrete which are ACI model, CEB-FIP model and BP model and the methods for the time analysis of structures which are AEMM, RCM and IDM. To demonstrate the validity of the program which was developed for this study, a steel-concrete composite column subjected to constant axial deformation was tested, and the experimental results wewe compared with analytical results. It was found that stresses are redistributed between concrete and wide flange steel, and analytical results by ACI model and IDM well predict the experimental data.

  • The object of this thesis is an analytical study on flexural deformation of high strength concrete structures using reliability theory. Using the established experimental data that have been presented in various documents the stress-strain relationship curves of high strength(500kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$)models are proposed. Based on both methods of logarithm regression analysis and multiple regression analysis adopted in order to establish the relationships between design parameters, response random variables and flexural deformation analyzed using Monte Carlo simulation and Simpson composite formula. Additional random variables are introduced to incorporate both the confidence in the analytical accuracy of engineering mechanics associated with structural response quantities and the uncertainty in the construction quality control. The result is expected to accomodate other important design parameter of high strength concrete design in treating reliability theory that practicing engineers, structural engineering often face.

  • An approach based on the combined use of a 2D shallow water model and analytical 1D long wave run-up theory is proposed which facilitates the forecasting of tsunami run-up heights in a more rapid way, compared with the statistical or empirical run-up ratio method or resorting to complicated coastal inundation models. Its application is advantageous for long-term tsunami predictions based on the modeling of many prognostic tsunami scenarios. The modeling of the Chilean tsunami on February 27, 2010 has been performed, and the estimations of run-up heights are found to be in good agreement with available observations.

  • This paper presents a calculating method for inductance of the Switched Reluctance Motor(SRM) for torque characteristics and driving by analytical model. The approaches for calculating inductance have taken vary from detailed finite element analysis(FEA) and Fitting method in magnetization curves using complex nonlinear magnetic circuit models. But those methods have not satisfactory approach for machine performance calculations, because of having a long time and remodeling for analyses, therefore thus an alternative approach is required. So it is suggested simply calculating method of the inductance based on designed data of machinery by analytical model in unaligned and aligned rotor. In order to prove the calculating, there are compare with analytical FEM, direct measurement, this method, and simulation. The compared result is shown to obtain good accuracy.

  • The paper is concerned with the analytical description of a resistance mechanism, not considered in previous models, by which the hoops contribute to the shear capacity of RC columns with circular cross sections. The difference from previous approaches consists in observing that, because of deformation, the hoops change their original shape and, as a consequence, their slope does not match anymore the original one in the neighborhood of a crack. The model involves two parameters only, namely the crack inclination and the hoop strain in the neighborhood of a crack. A closed-form analytical formulation to correlate the average value of the crack width and the hoop strain is also provided. Results obtained using the proposed model have been compared with experimental data, and a satisfactory agreement is found.

  • An analytical model which can simulate the post-cracking nonlinear behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) members such as bars and panels subjected to uniaxial and biaxial tensile stresses is presented. The proposed model includes the description of biaxial failure criteria and the average stress-strain relation of reinforcing steel. Based on strain distribution functions of steel and concrete after cracking, average response of an embedded reinforcement, a criterion to consider the tension-stiffening effect is proposed using the concept of average stresses and strains. The validity of the introduced model is established by comparing the analytical predictions for reinforced concrete tension members with results from experimental studies. Finally, correlation studies between analytical results and experimental data from biaxial tension test are conducted with the objective to establish the validity of the proposed models and identify the significance of various effects on the response of biaxially loaded reinforced concrete panels.

  • To enable the coexistence of Licensed Assisted Access (LAA) and Wi-Fi in 5 GHz unlicensed bands, a new channel access mechanism is proposed. Accounting for the fairness between LAA and Wi-Fi, the proposed mechanism finds the optimal transmission time ratio by adaptively adjusting the transmission durations for LAA and Wi-Fi. In addition, we propose a new analytical model for the distributed coordination function of IEEE 802.11 through some modifications of conventional analytical models for saturation and non-saturation loads. By computing the activity ratio of Wi-Fi, the proposed analytical model is able to control the time ratio between LAA and Wi-Fi, which is required for practical implementation of the proposed access mechanism. Through numerical simulations, the proposed channel access mechanism is compared with conventional methods in terms of throughput and utility.

  • Analytical criteria for the onset of fuel fragmentation and Burst Fission Gas Release in fuel rods with ballooned claddings are formulated. On that basis, the GRSW-A model integrated with a fuel behaviour code is updated. After modification, the updated code is successfully applied to simulation of the Halden LOCA test IFA-650.12. Specifically, the calculation with Burst Fission Gas Release during the test resulted in prediction of cladding failure, whereas it could not be predicted at the test planning, before new models were implemented. A good agreement of the current model with experimental data for transient Fission Gas Release in the tests IFA-650.12 and IFA-650.14 is shown, as well.

  • The flywheel energy storage system using superconducting magnetic bearings is a device to store electrical energy as rotatioal kinetic energy by motor and to convert it to electrical energy by generator when it is necessary. The rotordynamic analysis should be performed with an adequate analytical model and equations of motion to identify the stable driving condition and the dynamic behavior. The critical speed and the unbalance response of superconducting magnetic bearings-flywheel system are studied in this paper. The analytical results show that the system has one forward whirling mode and two backward whirling models below 500rpm. The maximum displacement 0.75mm is detected at the first forward mode (385rpm)through unbalance response analysis. The analytical results are compared with the experimental result by the spin-down test. The experimental result shows that the maximum displacement is 0.7mm at 370rpm.
