  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the concrete educational needs of visiting nurses working in a community health setting in Korea. Methods: We conducted four focus group interviews from October 7 to October 18, 2021. Twenty-five visiting nurses who worked in public health centers were recruited through purposive sampling. A qualitative content analysis was used to analyze the interview data. Results: The demands of educational contents for visiting nurse safety management practical training were: (1) coping with physical and verbal violence, (2) coping with sexual violence, (3) infection control for infectious diseases with a high prevalence in the community, and (4) preventing and coping with animal bites during home visits. In addition, visiting nurses suggested training programs that comprised: (1) case-based learning, (2) short video clips, and (3) recurrent integrated education. Conclusion: Safety management training programs for visiting nurses should be implemented to the extent that they add no burden on their workload and are easily accessible at any time. In addition, training programs should be based on actual cases and be focused on contents that can be applied in home visit situations. A practical safety management training program should be developed based on the educational needs of visiting nurses, as identified through this study.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine Korean teachers' needs in in-service teacher training and variables related to their needs. This study was conducted with teachers from Korean language centers in Korean universities. The following three research questions were investigated: (1) What are the teachers' experiences of Korean language teaching and in-service teacher training? (2) What are the teachers' needs and expectations for the content and components of in-service education programs? Are there any disparity between teachers' needs and institutional needs? (3) What are the variables to be considered in designing an effective in-service teacher education program? In order to answer the research questions, a survey was developed and distributed to university Korean language institutions and Korean language teachers. The results indicated that both institutions and teachers are highly aware of the importance of the need for in-service teacher training. The results also suggested that a more teacher-centered, bottom-up approach should be implemented for successful outcomes of teacher education programs. Based on the results, this study offers a summary of the need for in-service teacher training and variables (both individual teacher variables and environmental variables) to be considered in designing the content and components of a teacher education program.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the current status of hygiene education for hotel chefs, in terms of the level of performance and importance of food hygiene inspections, as well as hygiene practices related to food cooking, storage, personal hygiene, and facility environment. We aim to identify what areas of education require priority improvement and derive implications. Methods: A survey on hygiene status, importance, and performance was conducted among 289 chefs working in six luxury hotels in Busan, South Korea. Frequency analysis and cross-analysis were conducted to evaluate the current status of hygiene education, while Borich Needs analysis was conducted to evaluate its importance and performance. The areas needing priority improvement were identified using the Locus-for-Focus model. Results: First, the most common frequency of hygiene education was once or twice a year. Participants who were older and with more years of experience were more likely to participate in annual training. Second, based on the degree of discrepancy between importance and performance and the results of Borich Needs analysis, the areas needing the highest priority were food inspection and hygiene. Third, according to the results of applying The Locus for focus model and visualizing it as a portfolio in a 2 ', 'Chopping boards and knives are frequently washed, sterilized and dried', 'Wash your hands with soap before starting cooking', 'Perform regular quarantine and disinfection to prevent pest invasion'. Conclusion: This study contributed to the understanding of the current status of hygiene education for chefs working in luxury hotels and confirmed the importance of hygiene management. Future research should aim to develop a more comprehensive hygiene education program by including participants from a more diverse pool of hotels and restaurants. This will significantly improve the hygiene management practices of chefs, thereby helping to prevent food hygiene-related accidents.

After reviewing prior studies to tentatively establish a competency model, a training needs assessment was conducted in the field using this model. Data for the analysis were collected through a survey conducted among vocational training institutions. Following the needs assessment, a new management competency model for vocational training institutions was formulated, comprising six competencies and 26 competency dimensions, by eliminating the dimensions considered relatively less important. The competency model developed through this study is anticipated to be utilized in creating management education programs for directors of domestic vocational training institutions.

A total of 1872 people were participated in this study. The first contents of the survey were satisfaction and difficulties focusing on pre-training. The second contents were willingness to participate in post-training program, the expected difficulties related to post support. The third contents were preferences and needs of e-Learning, The results revealed various issues of the pre-training and post support. Foreign workers showed high expectation and needs on post training program, but the problems such as lack of time and workplace leave were pointed out to the greatest difficulties. Considering their high preferences for e-Learning, a possibility and necessity of e-Learning which can resolve difficulties of the workplace leave and give the customized service at different conditions and levels of training was anticipated.

  • The purpose of this study is to develop the engineering students leadership program and evaluate the pilot test. To this end, literature reviews covering various leadership programs were studied and a needs analysis survey was conducted. The needs analysis survey found that student subjects believe leadership to be an important quality, but that the current availability of leadership training programs is lacking. Furthermore, results of the study are as follows, with respective results listed in descending order. The majority of students selected on-line learning as their preferred training method, followed by blended learning and in-person learning. Students also indicated their preferred instructional method to be through on-line courses. Based on these results, a preliminary pilot program was experimentally launched for only 1 class's use. This process of the development for the Engineering Leadership Program consists of 4 stages. The first stage is a needs analysis survey, followed by the design of the program based on results from the needs analysis survey. Afterwards comes the development stage, followed by the implementation stage, comprised of two parts; the pilot test and the distribution. The final stage is the overall evaluation step. We are currently in the first step of the third stage (the pilot test) and only the overall evaluation stage remains. After the distribution, a follow-up study will be conducted to analyze the effectiveness of the implemented program.
