  • Two realigation procedures of any open-circuit transfer functions are presented through the use of genera1ized immitance converters composed of two operational amplifiers and passive elements. The fast precedure is to select the admittance conversion, h(s), to be k/s , and the second one to be k/s. The merit of the second procedure is the elimination of capacitors in passive networks, however, requires more CGIC's than the first. The second-order transfer function is realiged in the two methods under discussion to find that the sensitivity of Q factor and the undamped oscillation frequency to the variation of circuit elements. The first procedure proved to be favorable from the view point of sensitivities.

  • A low-power compact driver for multistandard physical layer is presented. The proposed driver achieves low power and small area through the voltage-mode driver with trans-impedance configuration and the novel hybrid driver,. In the voltage-mode driver, a trans-impedance configuration alleviates the problem of limited common-mode range of error amplifiers and the area and power overhead due to pre-amplifier. For a standard with extended output swing, only current sources are added in parallel with the voltage-mode driver, which is named a 'hybrid driver'. The hybrid architecture not only increases output swing but reduces overall driver area. The overall driver occupies $0.14mm^2$. Power consumptions under 3.3-V supply are 24.5 mW for the voltage-mode driver and 44.5 mW for the hybrid driver.

  • An automatic welding system was constructed with a personal computer to capture the welding data in addition to vision seam tracking for the gas metal arc welding process. The monitoring of welding signals is composed of the acquisition of welding voltage and current, obtained by using two differential amplifiers and A/D converters, and processing of the measured data. Using interrupt handing circuit for time sharing, two jobs of seam tracking and monitoring were performed at the required sampling time. Relations between welding signals and various welding circumstances were analyzed from the experimental results.

  • A simple active-R filter is proposed by utilizing only four resistors and two operational amplifiers. This filter has multi-functional characteristics and decreases the ratio of resistors. The sensitivity of $W_r$ and $Q_r$ as the parameter of filter is very low and the operating frequency of this active-R filter is possible in the high frequency. The integration of this active-R filter is easy due to the decrease in the number of resistors and the lowering of the ration of resistors. The experiment shows that all the characteristics of this active-R filter are in accordance with thory.

  • A new design method of stable RF power amplifier using 3dB coupled line is proposed in this thiesis. The proposed method of broadband matching consist of resistive matching circuits at low frequency and lossless matching circuits at microwave band. This design method increase the stability of an amplifier and is suitable for interstage matching. When high power amplifier is designed using this method for PCS base transceiver station, the measured resutls show thst the gain of 18.5dB, and 9W (39.5dBm) output power. We use motorola's MRF6401 for medium power and MRF 6402 for large power and cascaded them.

  • Controlling carrier transport in light emitting polymers is extremely important for their efficient use in organic opto-electronic devices [1]. Here we show that the interactions between single wall carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) and conjugated polymers can be used to modify the overall mobility of charge carriers within nanotube-polymer nanocomposites. By using a unique, double emitting-organic light emitting diodes (DE-OLEDs) structure. we have characterized the hole transport within electroluminescent nanocomposites (nanotubes in poly (m-phenylene vinylene-co-2,5-dioctoxy-p-phenylene) or PmPV). We have shown using this idea that single devices with color tunability can be fabricated. It is seen that SWNTs in PmPV are responsible for hole trapping, leading to shifts in the emission wavelengths. Our results could lead to improved organic optical amplifiers, semiconducting devices, and displays.

  • In active noise control (ANC) systems, the error-reduction performance of the conventional Filtered-X Least Mean Square (FXLMS) algorithm may be affected by nonlinear distortions in the secondary path such as in the power amplifiers, loudspeakers and transducers. In this paper, a nonlinear FXLMS algorithm with high error-reduction performance is proposed to compensate for undesirable nonlinearities in the secondary-path of ANC systems by employing the inverse Volterra filtering approach. In particular, the proposed approach is based on the utilization of the conventional P-th order inverse approach to nonlinearity compensation in the secondary path of ANC systems. Finally, the simulation results showed that the proposed approach yields a better nonlinearity compensation performance for the ANC systems with a nonlinear secondary path than the conventional FXLMS.

  • In this paper, CMOS RF front-end circuits for an L1/L5 dual-band global positioning system (GPS)/Galileo receiver are designed in $0.13\;{\mu}m$ CMOS technology. The RF front-end circuits are composed of an RF single-to-differential low noise amplifier, an RF polyphase filter, two down-conversion mixers, two transimpedance amplifiers, a IF polyphase filter, four de-coupling capacitors. The CMOS RF front-end circuits provide gains of 43 dB and 44 dB, noise figures of 4 dB and 3 dB and consume 3.6 mW and 4.8 mW from 1.2 V supply voltage for L1 and L5, respectively.
