Dried Bacillus subtilis Culture Reduced Ammonia Gas Release in Poultry House

  • The present study showed the advantages of dried Bacillus subtilis culture (DBSC) supplementation on reducing ammonia gas release in the poultry house. In Experiment 1, 65-week-old Hyline W-36 hens were raised in individual wire-floor cages in a windowless house, and divided into two groups of 180 hens each. One group was fed diets without DBSC as the control and another group was fed a diet supplemented with 2% DBSC. In Experiment 2, 2-week-old broiler chicks were divided into 3 treatment groups of 20 chicks each and maintained in individual floor cages. One group was fed the diet without DBSC and other two groups were fed the diet supplemented with 1 or 2% DBSC, respectively. In experiment 1, DBSC consistently reduced ammonia gas release in the laying house (p<0.01) and manure storage facilities (p<0.01). incubation of feces for 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 24 or 48 hours showed that DBSC consistently reduced ammonia gas release. In Experiment 2, DBSC reduced ammonia gas release in the broiler house; however, DBSC had no effect on total N, urate-N and ammonia-N contents of feces, but it improved cumulative N utilization and decreased serum urea-N concentration when chicks when chicks were fed 1% DBSC.

암모니아-물 랭킨사이클의 증발기에서의 엑서지 및 엔트랜시 성능 특성 해석 (Performance Characteristics Analysis of Evaporator in Ammonia-Water Rankine Cycle Based on Exergy and Entransy)

  • The use of the ammonia-water zeotropic mixture as a working fluid in the power generating system has been considered as a proven technology for efficient recovery of low-grade heat sources. This paper presents a thermodynamic performance analysis for ammonia-water evaporator using low-grade heat source, based on the exergy and entransy which has been recently introduced as a physical quantity to describe the heat transfer ability of an object. In the analysis, effects of the ammonia mass fraction and source temperature of the binary mixture are investigated on the system performance such as heat transfer, effectiveness, exergy destruction, entransy dissipation, and entransy dissipation based thermal resistance. The results show that the ammonia mass concentration and the source temperature have significant effects on the thermodynamic system performance of the ammonia-water evaporator.

냉동, 냉장 시스템에서 NH3 누출 사고 시 장외영향평가를 위한 피해범위 및 대피거리 산정에 관한 연구 (Recommended Evacuation Distance for Offsite Risk Assessment of Ammonia Release Scenarios)

  • An accident of an ammonia tank pipeline at a storage plant resulted in one death and three injuries in 2014. Many accidents including toxic gas releases and explosions occur in the freezing and refrigerating systems using ammonia. Especially, the consequence can be substantial due to that the large amount of ammonia is usually being used in the refrigeration systems. In this study, offsite consequence analysis has been investigated when ammonia leaks outdoors from large storages. Both flammable and toxic effects are under consideration to calculate the affected area using simulation programs for consequence analysis. ERPG-2 concentration (150 ppm) has been selected to calculate the evacuation distance out of various release scenarios for their dispersions in day or night. For offsite residential, the impact area by flammability is much smaller than that by toxicity. The methodology consists of two steps as followings; 1. Calculation for discharge rates of accidental release scenarios. 2. Dispersion simulation using the discharge rate for different conditions. This proactive prediction for accidental releases of ammonia would help emergency teams act as quick as they can.

암모니아수 처리된 그래핀 옥사이드의 전자파 차폐효율 특성 (Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Efficiency Characteristics of Ammonia-treated Graphene Oxide)

  • 본 연구에서는 그래핀 옥사이드의 전기적 특성을 향상시키고자 그래핀 옥사이드에 암모니아수 처리를 이용하여 아민화가 이루어진 그래핀 옥사이드를 제조하였다. 그리고, 아민화된 그래핀 옥사이드의 전기적 특성을 평가하고자 이를 필름으로 제조하여 전자파차폐효율을 측정하였다. 암모니아수 처리 농도가 증가함에 따라 그래핀 옥사이드 표면의 질소 관능기가 증가함을 XPS에 의하여 확인하였으며, 또한, 전자파차폐효율 측정 결과 암모니아수 처리된 그래핀 옥사이드의 전자파차폐효율 특성이 우수함을 확인하였다. 21% 암모니아수 농도로 처리한 그래핀 옥사이드는 2950 MHz 이상에서 -5 dB 이상의 전자파차폐효율을 보여주었으며, 이러한 실험 결과들은 질소 관능기가 그래핀 옥사이드 내에 전자전달을 용이하게 하여 흡수되는 전자파 양을 증가시켰기 때문으로 사료된다.

범게, Orithyia sinica 유생의 생존과 성장에 미치는 암모니아와 아질산의 영향 (Influence of Ammonia and Nitrite on the Survival and Growth of the Tiger Crab, Orithyia sinica (Linnaeus) Larvae)

  • 범게, Orithyia sinica 유생을 대상으로 암모니아와 아질산에 대한 생존 및 성장에 관한 실험을 실시하였다. 암모니아 노출 실험구에서 zoea기 유생은 노출 20일후, 대조구가 80%의 생존율을 나타내었지만 10 mg/L 이상의 실험구에서는 37-45%의 생존율을 나타내었고, megalopa기 유생에서도 유사한 경향을 나타내었다. 암모니아가 범게 유생의 성장에 미치는 영향을 조사한 결과, zoea기 유생은 20 mg/L 이상의 농도에서 megalopa기 유생은 50 mg/L 이상의 농도에서 유의한 차이를 나타내었다 (P<0.05). 아질산 노출실험에서는 zoea기 유생과 megalopa기 유생에서 농도와 노출기간에 비례하여 생존율이 감소하였으며, 특히 150 mg/L 이상의 아질산 농도에 노출된 zoea기 유생과 megalopa기 유생은 대조구와 비교하여 유의한 성장 지연을 나타내었다.(P<0.05)

  • Air quality related to particulate matters and ammonia is being come to the fore as the national concern in Korea. CAPSS (Clean Air Policy Support System) provides emission coefficients of these kinds of particulate and gaseous matters in the fields of livestock; however reliability issues are consistently mentioned. Evaluation of emission rates of PM2.5 and NH3 of the country is very important, but only few studies are available as the background related to observation of the concentration of the particulate matter and ammonia, especially within livestock house in Korea. In this paper, long-term measurement of PM10, PM2.5, and ammonia within the mechanically ventilated broiler house were carried out to introduce backgrounds of generation and emission of the particulate matters and ammonia. Measurement results were analyzed according to seasonal changes, age of broilers(weeks) and measurement locations. Concentration of inhalable and respirable dust were also evaluated in terms of occupational respiratory health according to increase in broiler's activity. From the results of this study, identification of the generation mechanisms of the particulate and gaseous matters, and evaluation of the emission rate of these in the broiler house will be carried out.

수평형 폐열회수보일러 배기탈질 SCR시스템의 최적설계를 위한 수치해석적 연구 (Numerical Study on Optimization of the SCR Process Design in Horizontal HRSG for NOx Reduction)

  • The SCR (selective catalytic reduction) system is highly-effective technique for NOx reduction from exhaust gases. In this study, the effects of the direction and size of nozzle and the ammonia injection concentration on the performance of SCR system are analyzed by using the computational fluid dynamics method. When the nozzle is arranged in zigzaged direction which is normal to exhausted gas flow, it is shown that the uniformity of gas flow and the NH3/NO molar ratio is improved remarkably. With the change of the ammonia injection concentration from 0.2 vol%(wet) to 1.0 vol%(wet), the uniformity of gas flow shows a good results. As the size of nozzle diameter changes from 6 mm to 12 mm, the uniformity of gas flow is maintained well. It is shown that the uniformity of the $NH_3/NO$ molar ratio becomes better with decreasing the ammonia injection concentration and the size of nozzle diameter.

오리엔트엽, 판상엽, 팽화엽 첨가에 따른 담배 연기성분 변화 (Changes of Tobacco Smoke Components by Adding Oriental, Reconstituted, and Expanded tobacco leaves)

  • This study was conducted to determine the smoke component changes by adding oriental, reconstituted, and expanded tobacco leaves. 7 different cigarette brands which were mixed with flue-cured, burley, oriental, reconstituted and expanded tobacco leaves were used for this study. 64 kinds of smoke components which were 6 of general components, 34 of semi-volatile and volatile components, 9 of acid components, and 15 of phenolic components were analyzed. All smoke components of mainstream smoke were changed by the different branding. As Tar, nicotine, ammonia, pH, all of acid compounds(except lacatic and glycolic acid) were decreased; HCN, levoglucosame, 4-vinyl phenol, 4-vinyl catechol, quinic acid-r-lactone, acetaldehyde, 2,3-butadiene, stylene were increased by adding oriental tobacco leaves. When the reconstituted tobaccos were added to 20%, the concentration of nicotine, all of acid compounds(except lactic. glycolic, palmitic acid) and all of phenol compounds were reduced; the concentration of ammonia, HNC, CO, aeconitrile, benzene, 2-butanone, moth-acrolene, butyronitrile, stylene, o-xylene were increased. As decreasing ammonia, pH, nicotine, all of acid compounds, all of phenol compounds, Isoprene, acetonitrile, 2-methyl-2-butene, 1,3-pentadiene, 2-nlethyl furane, ethylene cyclopentanone, ethyl bezene; increasing CO concentration were followed by adding expanded tobacco leaves.

암모니아 농도에 따른 Rich-Ni 양극 소재의 전구체 형태와 특성 변화 (Changes in the Shape and Properties of the Precursor of the Rich-Ni Cathode Materials by Ammonia Concentration)

  • Due to the serious air pollution problem, interest in eco-friendly vehicles is increasing. Solving the problem of pollution will necessitate the securing of high energy storage technology for batteries, the driving force of eco-friendly vehicles. The reason for the continuing interest in the transition metal oxide LiMO2 as a cathode material with a layered structure is that lithium ions reveal high mobility in two-dimensional space. Therefore, it is important to investigate the effective intercalation and deintercalation pathways of Li+, which affect battery capacity, to understand the internal structure of the cathode particle and its effect on the electrochemical performance. In this study, for the cathode material, high nickel Ni0.8Co0.1Mn0.1(OH)2 precursor is synthesized by controlling the ammonia concentration. Thereafter, the shape of the primary particles of the precursor is investigated through SEM analysis; X-ray diffraction analysis is also performed. The electrochemical properties of LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 are evaluated after heat treatment.

암모니아 함유 악취폐가스의 광촉매반응공정과 바이오필터로 구성된 하이브리드시스템 처리 (Treatment of Malodorous Waste Air Containing Ammonia Using Hybrid System Composed of Photocatalytic Reactor and Biofilter)

  • 퇴비공장 또는 공공시설에서 발생되는 악취폐가스의 대표적인 제거대상 오염원인 암모니아를 포함한 악취폐가스를 처리하기 위하여 여러 운전 조건 하에서의 광촉매반응기와 바이오필터로 구성된 하이브리드시스템을 운전하였다. 암모니아 총 제거효율은 하이브리드시스템의 운전부하가 운전 단계별로 커졌음에도 불구하고 약 80%로 유지되었다. 광촉매반응기에서의 암모니아 제거효율은 광촉매반응기로의 암모니아 유입부하량이 증가함에 따라서 광촉매반응기의 암모니아 제거효율은 65%에서 약 22%로 감소하였다. 같은 암모니아 유입부하량일지라도 암모니아농도가 클 때보다 적은 경우에 광촉매반응기의 암모니아 제거효율이 상대적으로 높았다. 반면에 바이오필터의 경우는 운전 전반부에는 암모니아 처리효율이 현저하게 억제되었으나 광촉매반응기의 경우와 반대로 시간이 경과하면서 암모니아 유입부하량이 증가함에도 불구하고 바이오필터의 암모니아 제거효율은 지속적으로 약 78%까지 증가하여서 Lee 등의 연구결과에서의 암모니아 제거효율과 비슷하게 도달하였다. 광촉매반응기에 의한 최대 암모니아 제거용량($EC_{PR}$)은 약 16 g-N/$m^3$/h 이었고, 바이오필터에 의한 암모니아 제거용량($EC_{BF}$)은 운전 초기에 암모니아 총 부하가 작은 경우에는 암모니아 총 부하증가에 따른 $EC_{BF}$의 증가추세가 미약하였으나 운전 후반부에 암모니아 총 부하가 큰 경우에는 암모니아 총 부하증가에 따른 $EC_{BF}$의 증가추세가 급격하게 커졌다. 하이브리드시스템 운전 6단계에서 암모니아 총 부하가 약 80 g-N/$m^3$/h일 때에 광촉매반응기에서의 $EC_{PR}$은 약 16 g-N/$m^3$/h이었고, 2차 공정이고 주공정인 바이오필터에 걸리는 암모니아 부하는 나머지인 약 64 g-N/$m^3$/h이고 주공정인 바이오필터의 $EC_{BF}$은 약 48 g-N/$m^3$/h로 산출되었다. 이러한 바이오필터의 암모니아 제거용량은 Kim 등의 연구결과로서 최대 암모니아 제거용량인 1,200 g-N/$m^3$/day와 거의 비슷하였다.
