In this paper, we propose a hybrid routing scheme that utilizes location information to support reliable data transmission in mobile ad hoc networks. The proposed scheme determines and maintains routing path by considering the directionality and connectivity of nodes using grid zones and information on neighbor nodes. In addition, it generates alternative paths with consideration for node distance and reliability. To show the superiority of the proposed routing scheme, a performance evaluation was conducted using simulations. The performance evaluation results show that the proposed scheme offers faster and more reliable data transmission than the existing routing schemes, and the number of messages decreases by approximately 31% compared to the existing schemes on average.

For the purpose of identifying alternative conceptions in biology held by both elementary and secondary school students, an open-ended questionnaire in the six areas of biology was devised and administered to both 21 elementary school science teachers and 32 secondary biology teachers. Results have Shown that 65 and 183 items were introduced by elementary and secondary school teachers respectively Our findings will be useful to many researchers who have concerned about the issus of misconceptions in biology as well as many biology teachers who have had difficulties in biology teaching due to students' preconceptions.

Recently, a variety of confidence measures for utterance verification has been studied to improve speech recognition performance by rejecting out-of-vocabulary inputs. Most of the conventional confidence measures for utterance verification are based primarily on hypothesis testing or an approximated posterior probability, and their performances depend on the robustness of an alternative hypothesis or the prior probability. We introduce a novel confidence measure called a search confusion rate (SCR), which does not require an alternative hypothesis or the approximation of posterior probability. Our confusion-based approach shows better performance in additive noise-corrupted speech as well as in clean speech.

Candida albicans possess cyanide-resistant respiratory pathway, which is mediated by alternative oxidase. The activity of alternative oxidase has been found to be dependent on several regulatory mechanisms. In order to investigate the influence of D-erythroascorbic acid on respiration of C. albicans, the respiratory activity of the cells was measured with oxygen monitor. ALO1 is known to encode D-arabinono-1,4-lactone oxidase that catalyses the final step of D-erythroascorbic acid biosynthesis in C. albicans.(omitted)

Environmental issues become one of today's central concerns due to draining natural resources and environmental pollution. Architecture is given a great deal of weight on the evoking environmental pollution. In this point of view, polluting factors in architectural planning and construction were predicted in advance and alternative plans were studied, In investigation of alternative plans, both environmental pollution and economical efficiency of various alternatives were considered. A office building was analyzed for energy consumption and construction environmental load by appling LCA. Applying LCA to a office building includes a total amount of materials and energy consumption, environmental impacts and economical efficiency evaluation. In present study, LCA applied to electrical part of a office building and economical efficiency evaluation was considered.

The fiddler crab, Uca lactea, which lives on intertidal mudflats in Korea, exhibits both burrow mating and surface mating. We observed 17 cases of surface mating that occurred on Ganghwa Island, South Korea. Most surface-mating males did not build semidomes, structures that attract searching females for burrow mating. Based on the conclusion of a previous study that semidome building is condition-dependent, we suggest that food availability may influence the mating tactic of this species. In addition, there was a strong correlation between the carapace size of both sexes that surface-mated, which suggests that males use body size of females as a mating cue.

최근 동물성 제품을 섭취하거나 소비하지 않는 비거니즘 생활방식을 지향하는 사람들이 증가하고 있다. 그러나 채식 인구의 증가에 수반되어야 하는 채식하기 좋은 환경에 대한 구축은 아직도 미흡한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 채식주의자들을 위해 가공식품 성분 표를 분석하여 채식주의자 단계에 맞는 대체식품을 추천해 주는 시스템을 제안한다. 제안 시스템은 먼저, 가공식품의 원재료들이 표기되어 있는 성분 표를 분석하여 사용자의 채식주의자 단계에 적합한지를 확인한다. 확인 결과 적합하지 않다면, 한국식품안전관리인증원의 공개 API를 이용하여 해당 가공식품과 제품 유형이 같은 식품을 검색하고 그 결과로부터 사용자의 채식주의자 단계에 적합한 원재료들이 포함되어 있는 식품을 추천해준다.

This case study explored the potential for implementing content-based English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction in a Korean middle school facilitated by computer-mediated communication (CMC). The instructor scaffolded the student participant's language learning online, helping her to produce English output on her own. While experimental social studies lessons on the topic of stereotyping were taught, data were collected on the student's online exchanges with her counterpart in Iran about their respective cultures. Findings show that the student from Korea was able to better understand her own culture as a result of the online experience. This interaction and the in-class lessons have demonstrated that content-based EFL instruction is a viable alternative to the school's existing curriculum.

현재 대부분의 게임은 가상공간에서만 이루어지기 때문에 사용자의 실질적인 움직임이 없이 단순한 조작으로 수행되며, 이로 인해 사용자의 신체 및 정신에 다양한 부작용이 발생한다. 대체 현실 게임은 기존 온라인 게임과 달리 가상 공간과 현실 세계를 연계하여 기존 게임의 부작용을 완화할 수 있는 새로운 게임 장르이며, 게임 참여자간의 사회적 친밀감의 증가로 단순한 게임을 넘어서 새로운 사회적 유대를 형성하는 수단이 될 것으로 기대되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 모바일 기기와 NFC 태그를 활용한 대체 현실 게임의 실제 구현을 보인다. 이를 위해 대체 현실 게임을 제작하기 위한 새로운 편집기와 이를 플레이하기 위한 모바일 기기 기반의 게임 실행기를 구현하였으며, 편집기를 통해 제작된 게임은 모바일 게임 실행기를 통하여 실행된다.

Purpose: Salivary fluid formation is primarily driven by Ca2+-activated, apical efflux of chloride into the lumen of the salivary acinus. The anoctamin1 protein is an anion channel with properties resembling the endogenous calcium-activated chloride channels. In order to better understand the role of anoctamin proteins in salivary exocrine secretion, the expression of the ten members of the anoctamin gene family in the mouse submandibular gland was studied. Methods: Total RNA extracted from mouse submandibular salivary glands was reverse transcribed using primer pairs to amplify the full-length coding regions of each anoctamin gene and was subcloned into plasmid vectors for DNA sequencing. Alternative splice variants were also screened by polymerase chain reaction using primer pairs that amplified six overlapping regions of the complementary DNA of each anoctamin gene, spanning multiple exons. Results: Multiple anoctamin transcripts were found in the mouse submandibular salivary gland, including full-length transcripts of anoctamin1, anoctamin3, anoctamin4, anoctamin5, anoctamin6, anoctamin9, and anoctamin10. Exon-skipping splicing in the N-terminal exons of the anoctamins1, anoctamin5, and anoctamin6 genes resulted in multiple alternative splice variants. No expression of anoctamin2, anoctamin7, or anoctamin8 was found. Conclusions: The predominant anoctamin transcript expressed in the mouse submandibular gland is anoctamin1ac. The chloride channel protein produced by anoctamin1ac is likely responsible for the $Ca^{2+}$-activated chloride efflux, which is the rate-limiting step in salivary exocrine secretion.
