무가압함침법으로 제조된 입자강화 금속복합재료의 마모특성 (Wear Characteristics of Particulate Reinforced Metal Matrix Composites Fabricated by a Pressureless Metal Infiltration Process)

  • The effect of size and volume fraction of ceramic particles, with sliding velocity on the wear properties were investigated for the metal matrix composites fabricated by the pressureless infiltration process. The metal matrix composites exhibited about 5.5 - 6 times the wear resistance compared with AC8A alloy at high sliding velocity, and by increasing the particle size and decreasing the volume fraction, the wear resistance was improved. The wear resistance of metal matrix composites and AC8A alloy exhibited different aspects. Wear loss of AC8A alloy increased with sliding velocity, linearly : whereas, metal matrix composites indicated more wear loss than AC8A alloy at the slow velocity region. However, a transition point of wear loss was found at the middle velocity region, which shows the minimum wear loss. Further, wear loss at the high velocity region exhibited nearly the same value as the slow velocity region. In terms of wear mechanism, the metal matrix composites generally exhibited abrasive wear at slow to high sliding velocity; however, AC8A alloy showed abrasive wear at low sliding velocity and adhesive and melt wear at high sliding velocity.

급속응고한 Ag-Sn-In 합금의 미세조직에 미치는 Misch Metal의 영향 (The Effect of Misch Metal on the Microstructure of Rapidly solidified Ag-Sn-In Alloys)

  • Because of a good wear resistance and a stable contact resistance, Ag-CdO is widely used as electrical contact material. But, the Cd-oxide mainly exists as a coarse particle and adversely affected to environment. As a reason, $Ag-SnO_2$ alloy has been developed. The Sn-oxide maintains stable and fine particle even at high temperature. In order to investigate the effect of Misch metal (Mm) additional that affects the formation of the oxide and the formation of fine matrix Ag, we studied the microstructures and properties of Ag-Sn-In(-Mm) material fabricated by rapid solidification process. The experimental procedure were melting using high frequency induction, melt spinning, and internal oxidation. The Mm addition makes Ag matrix more fine than no Mm addition. The reason is that the addition of Misch metal decreased a latent heat of fusion of alloy, as a result the rapid solidification effect of alloy is increased. The maximum hardness shows at 0.3 wt%Mm. after that the hardness is decreased until 0.4 wt% Mm, but still larger than no Mm addition alloy. At 0.5 wt% Mm alloy, the precipitation of Misch metal causes a decrease of hardness than no Mm addition alloy.

금속-도재 보철용 합금의 열처리가 소성과정 중 경도 변화에 미치는 영향 (Effects of special heat treatment on changes in the hardness of a metal-ceramic alloy during the firing process)

  • Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a special heat treatment on Pd-Au-Ag metal-ceramic alloy after degassing treatment and on changes in the hardness of the alloy during the firing process. Methods: Specimen alloys were cast and subjected to degassing at 900℃ for 10 minutes. These specimens were then subjected to a special heat treatment at 600℃ for 15 minutes in a dental porcelain furnace. Further, the specimens were subjected to simulated firing in the porcelain furnace. The resulting specimens were then tested for hardness, and changes in the microstructure were observed. Results: There was a decrease in the hardness of the alloy during the simulated firing of the cast alloy due to the coarsening of the particles. Meanwhile, additional heat treatment after degassing was found to play a crucial role in preventing a decrease in hardness. This treatment effectively suppressed the coarsening of the precipitates during repeated firing at high temperatures. Conclusion: Specific heat treatment of the Pd-Au-Ag metal-ceramic alloy prevented a decrease in its hardness and extended the lifespan of the metal-ceramic prosthesis.

  • Nylon-inorganic filler alloy의 도금에 있어 최적 전처리 공정에 관하여 연구하였다. Nylon-inorganic filler alloy는 etching 공정만으로도 무정형층을 제거하여 요구되는 충분한 밀착력을 얻을 수 있었다. SEM과 표면조도 측정으로부터 etching 공정이 수지표면을 매우 거칠고 접착력을 우수하게 만든다는 결과를 얻었으며, 도금물질의 표면상태와 접착력은 Nylon-inorganic filler alloy 수지의 성형조건에 의존한다는 것을 확인하였다. EDS 분석으로 전처리 후 수지표면의 잔류금속의 종류와 양을 측정한 결과 Cr은 Sn과 Pd의 흡착에 크게 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났다.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the tendency of color change of ceramic, and its mechanism un der the influence of Pd-Ag alloy. The specimens were made by firing porcelain on tile metal plates cast with Au-Pt alloy, Pd-Cu alloy and Pd-Ag alloy. In the case of Pd-Ag alloy, specimens were fired under three different conditions as follows, 1) without protection, 2) protection with ceramic metal conditioner, 3) protection with carbon block. For the specimens of element analysis, a barrier was constructed with platinum foil between metal plate and ceramic. Color change was measured with colorimeter and elemental changes in ceramic were calculated with DC argon plasma emission spectrophotometer. The results were as follows : 1. Color change of ceramic by Pd-Ag alloy was negligible in hue, but decreased in value and increased in chroma (yellow discoloration). 2. Color change of ceramic by Pd-Ag alloy was appeared through vapor transport mechanism. 3. As the protection method for the color change of ceramic by Pd-Ag alloy, application of ceramic metal conditioner was superior to utilization of carbon block.

  • Pd alloy hydrogen membranes for hydrogen purification and separation need thermal stability at high temperature for commercial applications. Intermetallic diffusion between the Pd alloy film and the porous metal support gives rise to serious problems in long-term stability of Pd alloy membranes. Ceramic barriers are widely used to prevent the intermetallic diffusion from the porous metal support. However, these layers result in poor adhesion at the interface between film and barrier because of the fundamentally poor chemical affinity and a large thermal stress. In this study, we developed Pd alloy membranes having a dense microstructure and saturated composition on modified metal supports by advanced DC magnetron sputtering and heat treatment for enhanced thermal stability. Experimental results showed that Pd-Cu and Pd-Ag alloy membranes had considerably enhanced long-term stability owing to stable, dense alloy film microstructure and saturated composition, effective diffusion barrier, and good adhesive interface layer.

합금의 종류와 지대주 성분이 바형 유지 장치의 변연 적합도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of various casting alloys and abutment composition on the marginal accuracy of bar-type retainer)

  • 연구 목적: 합금의 종류와 지대주의 재질의 차이가 변연적합도에 미치는 영향을 비교 분석하고자 한다. 연구 재료 및 방법: 2개의 임플란트 유사체를 평행하게 위치시킨 후 아크릴릭 레진으로 포매하여 연구모형을 제작하였다. 바 구조물은 gold UCLA 지대주에 고귀금속 합금(high noble metal alloy)과 귀금속 합금(noble metal alloy)을, 그리고 metal UCLA 지대주에 고귀금속 합금과 비귀금속 합금(base metal alloy)을 이용하여 총 4 종류의 바 구조물을 7개씩 시편을 제작하였다. 주조된 바 구조물을 레진 모형에 장착하고 한쪽 지대나사를 조인 후, 반대쪽 임플란트-지대주 간극의 수직 거리를 앞, 뒤, 측면 3부위에서 입체 광학 현미경으로 관찰하여 기록하였다. 결과: 각 군들의 변연오차 평균값은 gold UCLA 지대주에 고귀금속 합금과 귀금속 합금을 사용했을 때 각각 $13.69{\pm}6.74{\mu}m$$267.26{\pm}65.85{\mu}m$이었으며, metal UCLA 지대주에 고귀금속 합금과 비귀금속 합금을 사용했을 때 $26.19{\pm}8.14{\mu}m$$61.90{\pm}33.65{\mu}m$이었다. One-way ANOVA를 이용하여 변연 적합도의 차이를 분석했을 때 고귀금속 함금을 사용한 군들을 제외하고, 모든 군간에 유의한 차이가 존재하였다($P$<.05). Gold UCLA 지대주-귀금속 합금 조합을 제외하고 모두 $70{\mu}m$ 이하의 수직오차를 보였다. 결론: 임플란트 바 유지 장치의 제작에 있어서 고귀금속 합금 대신 비귀금속 합금과 metal UCLA 지대주를 사용하는 것은 임상적 타당성이 있다고 판단된다.

도재전장관용 비귀금속합금과 도재의 융착결합에 관한 연구 (A Study on Bond Strength of Procelain with Non Precious Alloy)

  • The adhesive mechanisms on the metal-ceramic restorations have been reported to be mechanical interlocking, chemical bonding, compressive force, and Van der Waal's force, etc. Of these, the mechanical interlocking and chemical bonding forces are thought to affect the adhesive force between Ni-Cr alloy and porcelain. This study investigates the adhesion of Ni-Cr alloy to porcelain according to surface treatment. For this purpose, the following experiments were made; The compositions of Ni-Cr alloy as cast by emission spectrograph, and the oxides produced on Ni-Cr alloy during degassing at $1850^{\circ}F$ for 30 minutes in air and in vacuum were analyzed by X-ray diffractograph. The metal phases of Ni-Cr alloy were observed according to porcelain-baking cyclic heat treatment by photo microscope and the distribution and the shift of elements of Ni-Cr alloy and porcelain and the failure phases between Ni-Cr alloy and porcelain by scanning electron microscope. The adhesive force between Ni-Cr alloy and porcelain was measured according to surface treatment with oxidization and roughening by Instron Universal Testing Machine. Results were as follows; 1. The metal phases of Ni-Cr alloy as cast and degassing state showed the enlarged and fused core, but when subjected to porcelain-baking cyclic heat treatment, showed a dendrite growing. 2. The kinds of metal oxides produced on Ni-Cr alloy during degassing were found to be NiO and $Cr_2O_3$. 3. The distribution of elements at the interface of Ni-Cr alloy and porcelain in degassing state showed demarcation line, but in roughening state, showed mechanical interlocking phase. 4. The shift of elements at the interface occurred in both states, but the shift amount was found to be larger in roughening than in degassing. 5. The adhesive force between Ni-Cr alloy and porcelain was found to be $3.45{\pm}0.93kg/mm^2$, in degassing and $3.82{\pm}0.99kg/mm^2$, in roughening. 6. The failure phase between Ni-Cr alloy and porcelain showed the mixed type failure.

극저온 환경에 적용되는 INCONEL 718합금의 Gas Tungsten Arc Welding 기계적 특성 평가 (Mechanical Properties Evaluation of Gas Tungsten Arc Welding for INCONEL 718 alloy apply to Cryogenic Condition)

  • Inconel 718 alloy has excellent mechanical properties at room temperature, high temperature and cryogenic conditions. UTS of base metal is about 900MPa at room temperature; this is increased up to 1300MPa after heat treatment & aging-hardening. Mechanical properties of Inconel 718 Alloy were similar to those shown in the the results for tensile test; mechanical properties of Inconel 718 alloy's GTAW were similar to those of base metal's properties at room temperature. Mechanical properties at cryogenic conditions were better than those at room temperature. Heat-treated Inconel 718, non- filler metal GTAW on Inconel 718 and GTAW used filler metal on Inconel 718's UTS was 1400MPa at cryogenic condition. As a result, the excellent mechanical properties of Inconel 718 alloy under cryogenic conditions was proved through tensile tests under cryogenic conditions. In addition, weldability of Inconel 718 alloy under cryogenic conditions was superior to that of its base-metal. In this case, UTS of hybrid joint (IS-G) at -100$^{\circ}C$ was 900MPa. Consequently, UTS of Inconel 718 alloy is estimated to increase from -100$^{\circ}C$ to a specific temperature below -100$^{\circ}C$. Therefore, Inconel 718 alloy is considered a pertinent material for the production of Lox Pipe under cryogenic conditions.
