  • Nanowires are promising options for building nanoscale electronic structures coming from high conductivity of nanowires. In particular, Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), which is structurally nanowire, can obtain highly ordered electronic components for nanocircuitry and/or nanodevices because of its very flexible length controllability, nanometer-size diameter, about 2 nm, and self-assembling properties. In this work, we used the method to form DNA-Nanowires (NWs) by using chemical treatment on Silicon (Si) surface, and Aminopropyl-triethoxysilane (APTES) was used as inducer of DNA sequence to modify the characteristics of Si surface. Moreover, we performed tilting technique to align DNA by the direction of flow of DNA solution. We investigated the assembly process between DNA molecules and APTES - coated Si surface according to the APTES concentration, from $1.2{\mu}\ell$ to $120{\mu}\ell$. Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) images showed the combination rate of DNA molecules by the change of APTES concentration. As APTES concentration becomes thicker, aggregation of DNA molecules occurs, and this makes a kind of DNA networks. In this respect, we confirmed that there's a positive relationship between the concentration of APTES and the formation rate of DNA nanowires. Since there have been lots of research preceded to utilize DNA nanowires as template, so by using this positive relationship with proper alignment technique, realization of nano electronic devices with DNA nanowires might be feasible.

  • An active contour model called snake is powerful tool for object contour extraction. But, conventional snakes require exhaustive computing time, sometimes can´t extract complex shape contours due to the properties of energy function, and are also heavily dependent on the position and the shape of an initial snake. To solving these problems, we propose in this paper an improved snake called "shaking snake", based on a greedy algorithm. A shaking snake consist of two steps. According to their appropriateness, we in the first step move each points directly to locations where contours are likely to be located. In the second step, we then align some snake points with a tolerable bound in order to prevent local minima. These processes shake the proposed snake. In the experimental results, we show the process of shaking the proposed shake and comparable performance with a greedy snake. The proposed snake can extract complex shape contours very accurately and run fast, approximately by the factor of five times, than a greedy snake.

  • This paper proposes a new approach to align 3D data sets by using curvatures of feature surface. We use the Gaussian curvatures and the covariance matrix which imply the physical characteristics of the model to achieve registration of unaligned 3D data sets. First, the physical characteristics of local area are obtained by the Gaussian curvature. And the camera position of 3D range finder system is calculated from by using the projection matrix between 3D data set and 2D image. Then, the physical characteristics of whole area are obtained by the covariance matrix of the model. The corresponding points can be found in the overlapping region with the cross-projection method and it concentrates by removed points of self-occlusion. By the repeatedly the process discussed above, we finally find corrected points of overlapping region and get the optimized registration result.

  • This paper proposes the heuristic approach for the generalized GT(Group Technology) problem to consider the restrictions which are given the number of cell, maximum number of machines and minimum number of machines. This approach is classified into two stages. In the first stage, we use the similarity coefficient method which is proposed and calculate the similarity values about each pair of all machines and align these values in descending order. If two machines which is selected is possible to link the each other on the edge of machine cell and they don't have zero similarity value, then we assign the machines to the machine cell. In the second stage, it is the course to form part families using proposed grouping efficacy. Finally, machine-part incidence matrix is realigned to block diagonal structure. The results of using the proposed approach are compared to the Modified p-median model.

  • In this paper, we propose a correction method for astronomical telescope using recursive least square method. There are two ways to move a telescope : equatorial operation and altazimuth operation. We must align polar axis of a equatorial telescope with the north celestial pole and adjust the horizontal axis of a altazimuth telescope exactly to match the celestial coordinate system with the telescope coordinate system. This process needs time and expertise. We can skip existing process and correct a tracking error easily by deriving the relationship of the celestial coordinate system and the telescope coordinate system using the proposed correction method. We obtain the coordinate of a celestial body in the celestial coordinate system and the telescope coordinate system and derive a transformation matrix through the obtained coordinate. We use recursive least square method to estimate the unknown parameters of a transformation matrix. Finally, we implement a telescope control system using a microprocessor and verify the performance of the correction method. Through an experiment, we show the validity of the proposed correction method.

  • The letters of the automobile tire are usually engraved on the side-wall. The shape of the side-wall is a sculptured surface generated by the rotational sweeping of a profile curve. The letters laid on the side-wall are usually designed by a 2-dimensional CAD. It is impossible to machine the letters on the surface accurately by 3-axis NC machining, because the axis of cutter should be tilted to align with the normal vector of the surface. In this case. the degree of freedom for the machine is at least four. This paper describes an idea for tool path generation of a 4-axis machine by using the 2-dimensional CAD data of the letters and the surface of the side-wall. This study includes the following procedures; (1) measuring the profile of the side-wall surface and curve-fitting of the measured points. (2) the 'non-parallel projection' of the letters on the side-wall, and (3) an inverse kinematics of the 4-axis lettering machine. Procedures in this paper are programmed in C-language on Windows95 environment. With a PC based CNC controller and a 4-axis lettering machine. these are tested sucessfully for the practical use.

  • The heavy-fermion compound $CeRhIn_5$ is a prototypical antiferromagnet where Ce 4f moments align antiferromagnetically below 3.8 K. When doped with Hg, the antiferromagnetic transition $T_N$ initially decreases, becomes flat, and increases again with further increasing Hg concentration. Here we report pressure effects on the electrical resistivity of a 0.45 % Hg-doped $CeRhIn_5$, where $T_N$ is 3.4 K and the magnetic structure is same as that of the undoped compound with Q=(1/2, 1/2, 0.298). With increasing pressure, $T_N$ is suppressed and a superconducting state emerges. The temperature dependence of the electrical resistivity near an optimal pressure shows a power-law behavior that deviates from a $T^2$ dependence, indicating presence of abundant quantum fluctuations near the optimal pressure.

  • The purpose of this study was to kinematically analyze the differences between short(2.17 m) and long(10.94 m) putting stroke motions. Thirteen male professional golfers were participated in this study. Experiment was conducted on the artificial grass mat in the gymnasium. Kinematic data were collected by the 60 Hz Kwon3D motion analysis system. Differences were compared by SPSS paired t-test and one-way ANOVA. Duncan was used for post-hoc test and a=.05. The results were as follows: 1. Ground projected trajectory of the putter head were statistically straight during both short and long putts. 2. There was no consistent alignment tendency among shoulder, hip, and stance alignments. However stance alignment was consistent between short and long putts. Thus it is assumed that professional golfers align their body based on their stance alignment. 3. During putting, shoulder rotated not only up and down but also right and left. 4. Left and right elbow distance was maintained during all phases of the putts for both short and long putts. 5. Inter foot distance of long putting was longer than that of short putting.
