Gardermoen is chosen as the location for a new major airport for the Oslo area, The site is surrounded by various units and camps operated by the Norwegian national defence. A study was carried out to evaluate whether the occurrence of aircraft noise may result in the national defence having to restrict operations in established camps, and in areas where outdoor exercise, training and instruction are beeing carried out.

Flying an aircraft is not like driving a train along a railway track. There are many factors that may affect an aircraft's course, including the wind speed and direction relative to the aircraft's intended flight path. This paper investigates noise exposed area by using INM. Especially, effect on aircraft route to minimise the number of people overflown by departing aircraft is evaluate. The result shows that track keeping scheme is effective to reduce the noise area. On the other track at 4000ft is negligible to the noise contour.
Aircraft noise model such as FAA Integrated Noise Model(INM) has recently been used for forecasting the impact of noise in a residential area near an airport and quantifying the effect of various options for noise mitigation. The noise modeling should be reliable and precise in order to ensure the quality of the results provided. In this study, the validation of the noise levels simulated by the INM against measurement data recorded continuously at multiple monitoring sites was discussed. As a result of validation, the quality of the input data used as a fixed point profiles for the INM was enhanced. The noise contour maps were designed as a way to evaluate the aircraft noise of the vicinity of the airfield. The results of this study indicate that the validation of aircraft noise model by the measurement data would be required for the accurate assessment of the aircraft noise levels.

For the purpose of finding if aircraft noise annoyance response is affected to variables when noise survey is performed, the questionnaire survey is conducted around the Gimpo International Airport in Seoul, Republic of Korea. This residential area is exposed to the aircraft noise and road traffic noise, simultaneously. Research areas are classified according to three different aircraft noise exposure levels expressed in WECPNL, under 75, between 75 and 80, and above 80 WECPNL, on aircraft noise map. The 7-step numerical magnitude with verbal category scales is used to measure the annoyance level. This surrey suggests that aircraft noise annoyance is not affected to an important extent by other noise sources (road traffic noise, community noise) and demographic variables (sex, age, education, occupation, dwelling type, length of residence). Aircraft noise annoyance would be related to complaint activity which is one of attitudinal variables.

Studies on community annoyance caused by transportation noise exposure were carried out in fifty-one areas around Gimpo and Gimhae international airports, Gyungbu and Honam railway lines and east and riverside-northen motorway to accumulate social survey data and to assess the relationship between each transportation noise level and degree of annoyance in Korea. The measurements of transpotation noise were carried out using portable precision sound level meters (B&K type 2238 and LD 812) except in aircraft noise. Aircraft noise levels were measured automatically by airport noise monitoring system, B&K type 35n Social surveys were carried out to people living around noise measurement points. Questionnaires were only aggregated by face-to-face interviews using various questions concerned with demographic factors, degree of noise annoyance, interference with daily activities and health-related symptoms. The questions of noise annoyance were answered on an 11-point numerical scale. The respondents, from 18 to 70 years of age, were randomly selected and completed the questionnaire for themselves. The total number of respondents for the questionnaires was 1,839. The results showed that community annoyance of railway noise in Korea is similar to that in Japan, but is more severe than that in European countries.
This study is a preliminary investigation into improving the environmental quality of schools. The purpose was to clarify the present conditions and reasons of noise in elementary schools located near airports and roads by noise level measurements and questionnaire surveys of subjective responses. fold measurements on equivalent and instantaneous noise levels, indoor and outdoor, were carried out in 3 schools during the periods 11th~ 13th of February and 2nd~ 7th of July,2003. The respondents were 94 teachers working in the 3 schools. The results were as follows. 1) Indoor noise levels of the 3 schools were 36.g~73 dB(A) in winter, and 46.9~ 91 dB(A) in summer. These values were higher than the indoor noise standard of 50 dB(A), except for the average of equivalent noise levels in winter.2) Outdoor noise levels of the schools were 41.1 ~ 101 dB(A) in winter, and 52.4~ 102 dB(A) in summer. These values were generally inappropriate relative to the standard for environmental noise of 65 dB(A). 3) The respondents showed relatively non- positive responses during school hours for interruptions by environmental noise.4) The frequently checked types of environmental noise of the schools were 'airplane noise','surrounding facilities', and 'traffic noise'. The frequently checked types of damage by environmental noise were 'Interrupting school hours' and 'Interrupting business'.
For the past ten years' efforts have been made to introduce environmentally-friendly "green" electric-taxi and maneuvering airplane systems. The stated purpose of e-taxi systems is to reduce the taxiing fuel expenses, expedite pushback procedures, reduce gate congestion, reduce ground crew involvement, and reduce noise and air pollution levels at large airports. Airplane-based autonomous traction electric motors receive power from airplane's APU(s) possibly supplemented by onboard batteries. Using additional battery energy storages ads significant inert weight. Systems utilizing nose-gear traction alone are often traction-limited posing serious dispatch problems that could disrupt airport operations. Existing APU capacities are insufficient to deliver power for tractive taxiing while also providing for power off-takes. In order to perform comparative and objective analysis of taxi tractive requirements a "standard" taxiing cycle has been proposed. An analysis of reasonably expected tractive resistances has to account for steepest taxiway and runway slopes, taxiing into strong headwind, minimum required coasting speeds, and minimum acceptable acceleration requirements due to runway incursions issues. A mathematical model of tractive resistances was developed and was tested using six different production airplanes all at the maximum taxi/ramp weights. The model estimates the tractive force, energy, average and peak power requirements. It has been estimated that required maximum net tractive force should be 10% to 15% of the taxi weight for safe and expeditious airport movements. Hence, airplanes can be dispatched to move independently if the operational tractive taxi coefficient is 0.1 or higher.

For the purpose of finding how the annoyance response to aircraft noise is affected by non-noise variables, the questionnaire survey is conducted around the Gimpo International Airport in Seoul, Korea. The non-noise variables used in this research are divided into two categories; demographic and attitudinal variables. The result of the survey suggests that aircraft noise annoyance is not affected to an important extent by other noise sources(e.g., road traffic noise and community noise etc.) and the demographic variables (sex, age, education, occupation, dwelling type and length of residence). It has been found that it is affected to an important extent by the attitudinal variables such as complaints.
In this paper, performance on receivers of multilateration (MLAT) system that uses ADS-B signal, which is recently becoming popular, was analyzed to overcome shortcomings of existing aircraft flight control systems or reinforce the capabilities. A link budget was analyzed using a channel model in the airport environment with regard to Local Area Multilateration (LAM) for ground-controlled landing around the airport. In order to detect signals that arrived at the receiver successfully, sensitivity of receiver was analyzed using a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) worksheet, and a method that improves accuracy of the distance measurement was proposed by adopting a peak estimation using sampling signals. Through simulations, optimum specifications of receivers were analyzed to have high precision positioning of LAM, and accuracy of LAM distance measurements was presented.
