복잡지형에서의 배출량 시나리오에 따른 대기질 수치모의 (The Air Quality Modeling According to the Emission Scenarios on Complex Area)

  • The objective of this work is the air quality modeling according to the scenarios of emission on complex terrain. The prognostic meteorological fields and air quality field over complex areas of Seoul, Korea are generated by the PSU/NCAR mesoscale model (MM5) and the Third Generation Community Multi-scale Air Quality Modeling System (Models - 3/CMAQ), respectively. The emission source was driven from the Clean Air Policy Support System of the Korea National institute of Environmental Research (CAPSS), which is a 1 km x 1 km grid in South Korea during 2003. In comparison of air quality fields, the simulated averaged $PM_{10},\;NO_2,\;and\;O_3$ concentration on complex terrain in control case were decreased as compared with base case. Particularly $PM_{10}$ revealed most substantial localized differences by $(18{\sim}24{\mu}g/m^3)$. The reduction rate of $PM_{10},\;NO_2,\;and\;O_3$ is respectively 18.88, 13.34 and 4.17%.

  • A few years ago, the rapid degradation of domestic air quality has led to the efforts of exhaust gas policy and fine dust mask, but it is not a fundamental measure. In Korea, photocatalyst will be applied to residential and multi-use facilites to purify indoor and outdoor air. Also, in this study, it is tried to produce exposed concrete that is aesthetically pleasing as well as air purification of indoor by combining with light transparent concrete according to the increasing interest in human indoor living environment. For this purpose, we have developed a block formwork for photocatalysis light transparent concrete and established a suitable manufacturing method for on-site construction.

AirQ+와 BenMAP을 이용한 초미세먼지 개선의 건강편익 산정 (Assessing the Health Benefits of PM2.5 Reduction Using AirQ+ and BenMAP)

  • Background: Among various pollutants, fine particle (PM2.5, defined as particle less than 2.5 nm in aerodynamic diameter) shows the most consistent association with adverse health effects. There is scientific evidence documenting a variety of adverse health outcomes due to exposure to PM2.5. Objectives: This study aims to assess the health benefits of that would be achieved by meeting the World Health Organization's air quality guidelines for PM2.5 using AirQ+ and BenMAP. Methods: We estimated PM2.5 related health benefits in Korea from implementing the World Health Organization's air quality guidelines (annual average 5 ㎍/m3 and 10 ㎍/m3) and Korea's National Ambient Air Quality Standard (annual average 15 ㎍/m3). We used World Health Organization's AirQ+ and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Environmental Benefits Mapping and Analysis Program. Results: The annual number of avoided PM2.5 related premature deaths exceeding WHO guideline levels was assessed using both AirQ+ and BenMAP. We estimated that the health benefits of attaining the World Health Organization's air quality guidelines for PM2.5 (annual average 5 ㎍/m3) would suggest an annual reduction of 26,128 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 17,363~34,024) and 26,853 (95% CI: 18,527~34,944) premature deaths. Conclusions: Our study provided useful information to policy makers and confirms that the reduction of PM2.5 concentration would result in significant health benefits in Korea.

  • The AIRWARE System was developed from one of the EUREKA PROJECT E!3266-EUROENVIRON WEBAIR System. The AIRWARE can nowcast and forecast the air quality of Seoul and Gyeonggi-do regions. To nowcast and forecast concentration of pollutants, MM5, AERMOD/CAMx, and SMOKE Models were used for each meteorologic data, measured data, and emission data. All DB were constructed for 2001 year. The episode analysis and time series analysis were accomplished to analyze the AIRWARE reliability. The simulated results were very well agreed with measured result for measured pollutants and meteorological data. The developed AIRWARE system can analyze with real-time, support web-based air quality information. This information can used with policy data to manage the air quality and prepare reduction plan in air impact assessment or air environmental plan.

Tourists' Satisfaction towards Bao Loc City, Vietnam

  • Bao Loc City is the new tourism destination in Lam Dong province, Vietnam, where more and more tourists have been drawn to pay a visit. This study aims to test the correlative impact of tourism service quality factors on satisfaction of the tourists who have visited Bao Loc City. The key theory used in this study is SERVQUAL scale. The survey sample consists of 350 tourists who stayed overnight in Bao Loc City in the last quarter of 2019; 315 valid survey questionnaires could be used for the analysis. The research applied Cronbach's Alpha, exploratory factor analysis (EFA), confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), structural equation modeling (SEM), and bootstrap test. The results show that the satisfaction of the tourists who have visited Bao Loc City has been affected statistically by three factors: (1) Responsiveness; (2) Reliability; and (3) Empathy, which were ranked by descending importance. Surprisingly, the research found that Tangibles and Assurance do not have an impact on tourists' satisfaction towards Bao Loc City. The research formulates some suggestions to the city policy-makers and the tourism businesses management in Bao Loc City in order to enhance tourists' satisfaction through improving the tourism service quality at Bao Loc City.

충남 대기환경 영향요인에 관한 연구 - 천안, 당진, 서산 등을 중심으로 (A Study on the Factors Affecting the Air Environment in Chungnam Province - Focusing on Cheonan, Dangjin, and Seosan)

  • 최근 대기환경에 대한 국민의 관심이 증대하고 있으며, 미세먼지 등으로 인하여 국민 건강이 위협 받고 있다. 또한 정부는 대기오염물질에 대한 모니터링을 확대하고, 환경기준을 강화하는 등 대기질 개선을 위한 노력을 지속하고 있다. 한반도 지역에 따라 대기질이 상이하기 때문에 원인 파악과 영향요인 탐색이 필요한 실정이다. 본 연구에서는 충남권에 위치한 도시의 대기환경과 지역적 차이를 탐색하였다. 연구방법으로 충남 3개 도시의 대기질 현황을 확인하고, 기온, 풍속, 강수, 계절 등의 기상조건과 SO2, NO2, CO, PM10, PM2.5, O3 등의 대기오염물질과 입자상 물질에 포함된 Pb, Cd, Cr, Cu, Ni, As, Mn, Fe, Al, Ca, Mg 등의 중금속 성분을 대상으로 회귀분석을 수행하였다. 분석결과 PM10 농도의 경우, 천안은 Mn(0.4884), 당진은 CO(0.3329), 서산은 Mg(0.5691) 농도에 의한 기여도가 높았다. PM2.5의 경우, 천안 NO2(0.4759), 당진 CO(0.4128), 서산 NO2(0.3715)에 의한 영향이 크게 나타났다. 종합하면 대기질 측면에서 충남 지역별 영향요인이 상이하고, 기여도에 분명한 차이가 존재함으로 이를 고려한 정부의 지역별 대기질 관리가 요구 된다고 판단된다.

중국의 최근 대기오염 규제 및 관리 정책에 대한 고찰 (An Overview on China's Recent Air Pollution Regulation and Management Policy)

  • 중국의 고속 경제성장과 도시화 산업화는 생활환경 전반을 급격히 악화시키고 있으며, 특히 대기오염물질은 중국 국내 뿐 아니라 인접국가인 한국의 대기환경 악화의 주요 외부요인으로 작용하고 있다. 최근 중국 정부는 석탄연소로 인한 대기오염에 대한 방지 관리와 대기환경 개선 정책을 대대적으로 시행해 왔다. 본 연구에서는 석탄연소에 따른 대기오염과 석탄화력 발전 대기오염물질 배출에 대한 중국정부의 규제관리 동향을 살펴봄으로써 중국 대기환경 정책의 주요 제도적 배열의 흐름과 상세 현황을 파악하였다. 그 결과, 석탄화력발전 대기오염물질 배출에 대한 중국 정부당국의 규제는 권역별 규제와 발전설비 유형별 규제 실시 등을 통해 이전보다 세분화된 것을 확인하였고, 대기오염물질 배출허용 기준 역시 강화되고 있으며, 13차 5개년 계획 기간의 목표년도인 2020년에 맞춰 직접적인 규제 및 방지 관리 등이 정책제도 측면에서 더욱 강화될 것으로 파악되었다. 하지만, 중국 대기질 개선 정책의 실질적인 효과와 실행 가능성 여부는 과학적 근거에 기반을 두고 신중하게 평가되어야 하며, 한국 등 인접국가에 미치는 영향이 충분히 고려되지 않은 한계점에는 개선이 요구된다. 이를 위해서는 지속가능한 한 중 환경협력 네트워크를 구축하고 강화시켜 나가는 것이 필수적으로 전제되어야 하며, 비단 중국의 대기오염뿐만 아니라 에너지정책, 산업 기술, 글로벌 환경거버넌스 등 다양한 요인을 고려한 통합적 접근과 중장기적인 연구가 필요하다.

화력발전소에서의 국내 배출계수 산정 방안 연구 -먼지를 중심으로- (Estimating PM Emission Factor from Coal-Fired Power Plants in Korea)

  • In Korea, PM (Particulate Matter) emissions caused by coal-fired power plants are measured by a system, so called Clean Air Policy Support System (CAPSS), which uses foreign emission factors. However, the system fails to reflect the characteristics of domestic power plants. In this regard, this study aims to develop local, accurate domestic emission factors. The study measured the amount of TSP (Total Suspended Particulates), PM10 and PM2.5 by collecting samples from the latter parts of pollution control devices which were installed at 3 bituminous-fired power plants and 3 anthracite-fired power plants. The results showed that the average concentrations of TSP, PM10 and PM2.5 measured at bituminous-fired power plants were 4.63 mg/$Sm^3$, 2.96 mg/$Sm^3$ and 3.07 mg/$Sm^3$ respectively, much higher than those from anthracite-fired power plants (2.96 mg/$Sm^3$, 2.47 mg/$Sm^3$ and 1.37 mg/$Sm^3$, respectively). In addition, bituminous-fired power plants showed higher ratios of PM10/TSP and PM2.5/TSP with 0.66 and 0.92, respectively, compared to 0.82 and 0.46, the ratios of PM10/TSP and PM2.5/TSP measured in anthracite-fired power plants. Emission factors based-on concentration measurements were also higher for bituminous-fired power plants, and PM with smaller particles tended to have bigger difference in emission factors between the two fuels. This study calculated the amount of PM emissions by using the estimated emission factors. When it comes to the PM emissions, it was less than that of CAPSS while similar to that of CleanSYS in its amount. It is expected that the emission factors developed by this study will be used in Korea replacing foreign emission factors currently used in Korea by ensuring the objectivity and reliability as domestic emission factors.

한반도 도서 지역 대기질 영향요인에 관한 연구 -울릉도, 제주도, 백령도 등을 중심으로 (A Study on the Factors Influencing Air Pollutions in the Islands of Korean Peninsula: Focusing on the Case of Ulleung, Jeju, and Baengnyong Island)

  • 최근 미세먼지, O3 등의 대기오염물질에 대한 국민 관심이 증대되고, 대기질 개선을 위한 정부의 노력이 지속되고 있다. 특히 대기오염물질로 인한 경제적 피해와 국민 건강 위협이 증대되고 있는 실정이다. 본 연구는 국가배경농도 측정 지점이 위치한 울릉도, 제주도, 백령도 3개의 도서 지역을 대상으로 청정 지역의 대기오염도와 기상조건을 분석하여, 각 지역의 2차 대기오염물질 기여도를 평가하고 지역 간 차이를 비교하였다. SO2, NO2, CO, O3, PM10, PM2.5 등 대기오염물질의 1시간 평균농도와 동일 시간대 풍속, 강수량, 일조시간 등의 기상조건을 활용하였다. 연구방법은 지역별 대기오염물질과 기상조건 간의 상관관계를 분석하고, SO2, NO2, CO 등 1차 생성물질을 독립변수로, PM10, PM2.5, O3 등 1차 생성물질이 포함된 2차 생성물질을 종속변수로 설정하였다. 국내외 선행연구 분석을 통해 대기질 영향요인을 탐색하고, 도서 지역의 기상조건을 통제하여 회귀분석을 수행함으로써 지역별 특성을 파악하였다. 종합하면 도서 지역의 대기질 측면에서 지역별 주요 영향요인과 기여도가 상이하여 오염발생 원인과 영향에 대한 지속적인 모니터링이 필요하다.

대기관리권역법 시행효과 평가를 위한 전북지역 초미세먼지 현황 및 건강영향 사전연구 (A Preliminary Study on the Current Status and Health Effects of PM2.5 for Evaluating the Act on Air Quality Management Regions in Jeollabuk-do Province)

  • Background: In order to evaluate the national effort to improve air quality through the Act on Air Quality Management Regions, an investigation of the current status of air quality in respective regions and the health impact of air pollution should be undertaken. Objectives: This study is a preliminary study on the status of PM2.5 in the central region of South Korea and its health effects. It can be applied to the evaluation of the effectiveness of the Act on Air Quality Management Regions. Methods: Time series variation of PM2.5 concentrations in the air quality management region (hereafter referred to as AQMR) and in the non-AQMR area in the central region of South Korea were created. Odds ratios (OR) were calculated based on the survey results of whether the residents of Jeollabuk-do were feeling anxiety caused by air pollution by sex, region, and regional characteristics. Relative risk (RR) values of lung cancer deaths in each city in the AQMR for the central region of South Korea were calculated. Results: During the period from Dec. 2018 to Dec. 2021, the average concentration of PM2.5 was higher in the AQMR at 26.0 ㎍/m3 compared to 19.5 ㎍/m3 in the non-AQMR. The odds ratio (OR) calculated using data from the Jeonbuk Research Institute (2020) suggested that women were more uncomfortable or anxious about their lives due to air pollutants than were men. The OR evaluation results also showed that in terms of PM2.5 sensitivity, residents in the non-AQMR were relatively more sensitive than those in the AQMR. The relative risk (RR) was calculated to evaluate the relationship between health hazards (PM2.5) and diseases (lung cancer). As a result, for super-aged people over 80 years old, compared to the non-AQMR (Muju-gun and Jangsu-gun), the residents in the AQMR (Jeonju, Gunsan, and Iksan) have about twice the relative risk of lung cancer. Conclusions: It is necessary to make efforts to improve residents' health and extend their healthy lives through efforts to reduce air pollutants such as PM2.5 in areas specially selected as an AQMR.
