Size Dependent Absorption Spectrum of ZnO Nanocrystals

  • To investigate the dependences of the absorption spectrum and electronic structure properties on the ZnO nano-particle size, ZnO nanocrystals were synthesized by a sol-gel method. The absorption onset peak exhibits a systematic blue-shift with decreasing particle size due to the quantum confinement effect, as well as, with decreasing $Zn^{2+}$ concentration. The increase of particle size is mainly controlled by coarsening and aggregation step during the nucleation and growth of ZnO nano-particles. The onset absorption spectrum of ZnO colloids changes from 310 to 355 nm as $Zn^{2+}$ concentration increases from 0.01 to 0.1 mole. The average particle size as a function of aging- time can be determined from the absorption spectra. The freshly prepared nanocrystal size was about 2.8nm.

Preparation of Pt Catalysts for 2-propanol Dehydrogenation using Sol-gel Method (솔-젤법을 이용한 2-propanol 탈수소화 반응 Pt 촉매의 제조)

  • Chemical heat pump system of 2-propanol/acetone/hydrogen is most suitable to the recovery of waste heat of power plant. various types of 5 wt% Pt-alumina catalysts were prepared for 2-propanol dehydrogenation using sol-gel method. The characteristics and the dehydrogenation reaction rate of each catalyst were investigated. Pt-alumina xerogel catalyst has excellent reaction rate and good durability in comparison with the existing alumina supported Pt catalysts. Pt-alumina aerogel catalyst had the highest reaction rate in all prepared catalysts, but sufficient aging time was necessary to maintain its reaction rate. A potential advantage of the aerogel catalyst is the fact that the high temperature heat treatment is not required. Without heat treatment or with low temperature heat treatment, the Pt-alumina aerogel catalyst has excellent reaction rate as well as durability and this gives us the economic advantage. Alumina xerogel supported Pt catalyst prepared by incipient wetness method showed good reaction rate, and had good mechanical strength. Blank alumina xerogel prepared by sol-gel method can be used for the support of metal catalysts.

Aluminum Solubility of Andisols in Jeju Island, Korea (제주도 Andisol 토양의 Al-용해도 특성)

  • The solubility of aluminum for two Andisol profiles formed on pyroclastic materials and basaltic rocks from Jeju Island, Korea was investigated. It is found that high organic carbon content and $Al_{pyrophosphate}/Al_{oxalate}$ ratios in the A horizons, suggesting the substantial amounts of reactive Al are associated with organic matter, whereas the low organic carbon content and the $Al_{pyrophosphate}/Al_{oxalate}$ ratios in the Bo horizons indicate that a major part of the reactive Al should be bound inorganically. The differential FT-IR spectra following acid-oxalate dissolution and heating up to 150 and $350^{\circ}C$, and transmission electron microscope (TEM) observation confirm that imogolite is in the Bo horizon. Our results of equilibration experiments demonstrate that the Al solubility in the Bo horizon for Andisols can be clarified by the congruent dissolution model for imogolite-type material (ITM), rather than by the simultaneous equilibrium with both ITM and Al hydroxy-interlayered aluminosilicate. With results from dialysis and aging procedures, it is noted that the formation of a proto imogolite sol showing its transformation to imogolite, which supports the congruent dissolution of ITM primarily controlling the Al solubility of Andisols in Jeju Island, Korea.

Synthesis and Property of Titanium Dioxide Nanosol with a High Crystalline Characteristics (고결정성을 갖는 이산화티탄 나노 졸의 합성 및 특성)

  • In recent years, titanium dioxide powders were produced as nanoparticles or nanowires or nanotubes in one-dimensional structure, and mesoporous spheres in 3-D to improve their crystallinities, which were further used as photo-electrode materials and for preventing photo-aging. In this study, a nano sol composed of titanium dioxide exhibiting a high crystallinity was synthesized using n-alcohol as a solvent. The crystallinity of the nano sol was confirmed by FE-SEM, and XRD, while the UV blocking rate confirmed by UV-Vis spectrometry results. Changes in the crystallinity were investigated by varying the types of solvents such as butanol, propanol and ethanol. The synthesized particle sizes were from 200 to 250 nm, and the optical transmittance showed a high blocking rate in the UVB and UVA range. It is expected that a high transmittance at 550 nm wavelength can increase the photoelectric conversion efficiency of solar cells and the UV blocking efficiency.

  • A stable suspension with a colloidal $ZrO_2$ particle was prepared by an adsorption of PV A and investigated to the effects of PV A on the dispersion and particle growth within suspension. With a suspension added the optimum concentration of PYA (about 500 ppm in this study), it was shown the property of a stable sol due to the formation of adsorbed PV A layer on surface and the reduction of an agglomeration among the particles. Most of nucleation in colloidal $ZrO_2$ were occured in the early stage of hydrolysis reaction and the plate-like monoclinic $ZrO_2$ particle were grown with an aging time. The rate of particle growth and yield for a reaction were decreased with an addition of PV A. The compact prepared from well- dispersed suspension by an addition of PV A was contained the homogeneous particle arrangement and pore distribution.

  • Advances in medical technology and living standards have led to an age of aging. In addition, the development of technology and the popularization of computers have led to the development of the contents business and the release of several functional games. Among these functional games, silver functional games are being played to solve problems such as dementia, a major problem in the aging era. In this study, prior research was analyzed to suggest factors that help design based on the kinetic elements of the design method of the motion-based convergence game for the leisure use of the silver generation. Based on the analysis, the model of exercise factors for preventing dementia is presented. This research design a silver motion-based functional game using the anti-dementia exercise model presented in this study in the future, we expect to see an effective and efficient silver game in the long term.

Studies on the Deformation in the Hysteresis Loop of $Pb(Zr,Ti)O_3$ Ferroelectric Thin Films ($Pb(Zr,Ti)O_3$ 강유전체 박막 이력곡선의 변형에 관한 연구)

  • Deformation in the hysteresis loop of $Pb(Zr,Ti)O_3$ (PZT) thin films with various Zr/Ti ratios has been studied by varying the top electrode preparation method and the annealing temperature. Pt/PZT/Pt capacitors was found to be positively poled due to dc plasma potential generated during reactive ion etch (RIE) of Rt. Internal field is formed by space charges trapped at domain boundaries. Aging phenomenon such as constriction in the middle of the hysteresis loop was observed in the PZT film with top electrode deposited by sputtering. Top electrode annealing restores the hysteresis loop by removing the space charges. As Zr/Ti ratio decrease, voltage shift increases and an-nealing temperature at which internal field disappears also increases.

  • In rural areas, changes in the agricultural structure began to appear as the vulnerable class increased due to a decrease in population such as a decrease in fertility and aging, and the elderly were unable to engage in agriculture. The number of farmers and farmers is steadily decreasing, and the elderly population living in rural areas is steadily increasing. Rural houses are left empty due to the moving, hospitalization, and death of the elderly population. The purpose of this study aims to present the current status of vacant houses in rural areas, problems of vacant houses policy in rural areas, and improvement plans. The purpose of this study aims to analyze the population status and aging of rural areas, and to present a plan to improve the trend of vacant houses with cities and the problems of vacant house policies. This study was conducted in the following process. First, the definition of vacant houses in rural areas should be redefined. Second, it is necessary to analyze the causes of vacant houses in rural areas and plan the use of vacant houses linked to them.Third, the management system of vacant houses in rural areas should be clear.

A Study on the Charateristics of ORMOSIL as a Dye Host by Measurement of UV/VIS Spectrophotometer (UV-VIS Spectrophotometer를 이용한 ORMOSIL의 투광특성)

  • Through sol-gel process, inorganic/organic composite as a dye host was made. It was observed that this composite has about 90% of trnasmittance by UV/VIS spectrophotometer. The transmittance is the most important requirement to decide whether the composite could apply or not as the dye host. The transmittance was increased with decreasing HCl as a catalyst, aging time, and amount of PDMS. Also, fluorescent and transmittant charateristics of Rhodamine 6G Perchlorate that was doped into ORMOSIL were measured. The fluorescent intensity was increased and the trnasmittance was decreased with rising gelling temperature.

유도결합형 플라즈마에 의한 $PMN-PT(Pb(Mg_{1/3}Nb_{2/3})O_3-PbTiO_3)$ 박막의 건식식각 특성

  • PZT(PbZr1-xTixO3) 박막은 고유전율과 같은 remanent polarization을 가져서 고집적 소자의 커패시터 유전율층 또는 비휘발성 메모리 소자의 제조에 이용되고 있으나, fatigue 와 aging 문제로 인하여 새로운 물질의 개발이 필요한데, 그 대표적으로 연구되고 있는 것이 PMN-PT(Pb(Mg1/3Nb2/3)O-PbTiO3) 이다. 본 실험에서는 sol-gel 법에 의하여 제조된 PMN-PT막을 ICP(Inductively coupled plasma)에 의하여 식각하였고 mask층으로는 PR을 사용하였다. 식각 가스로는 Ar, Cl, BCl를 단독 또는 혼합하여 사용하였으며, 식각 특성을 보기 위하여 RF Power, Substrate bias, Operation pressure, Substrate temperature를 변화시켰다. 식각속도는 stylus profiler를 이용하여 측정하였고, 단면 profile은 scanning electron microscopy (SEM)를 이용하여 관찰하였다. 식각 메커니즘을 규명하고자 식각된 박막의 표면을 X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS)로 관찰하였고, optical emission spectroscopy (OES)로 플라즈마 특성을 규명하고자 하였다. 식각속도는 Ar 또는 Cl2 플라즈마에 BCl3 가스를 혼합하였을 경우 증가되었고, BCl3 가스를 단독으로 사용하여도 높은 식각속도를 나타내었으며, BCl3의 첨가량이 늘어날수록 PR의 식각속도는 감소하여 높은 선택비를 보였다. 90% BCl3/10%Cl2 플라즈마에서 2800$\AA$/min의 식각속도 그리고 1.37:1의 PR 선택비를 얻을 수 있었다. Power나 기판 bias 증가에 따라 식각속도는 증가하였으나 기판 온도변화에는 민감하지 않았다. BCl3 rich에서의 식각속도 증가와 선택비 증가는 B2O3의 형성에 의한 것으로 생각된다.
