  • This study is represented the strength and freeing-thawing properties of recycled aggregate concrete mixed fly ash by experiment. The experimental variables are the substitution ratio of recycled aggregate and the mixing ratio of fly-ash. For each specimens, there were tested compressive strength and freeze-thaw resistance. It is able to find from the experimental result that the recycled aggregate concrete has good properties as general concrete on the compressive strength and the durability.

  • The objective of this experimental study is to grasp the effect of replacement level of high-quality recycled aggregate on the properties of high-performance concrete. The mixing types were divided into two series based on containing $0\%\;and\;15\%$ fly-ash. Replacement level of recycled aggregate ranged from $0\%\;to\;100\%$. Test results showed that the initial slump and the fluid velocity were independent on the replacement level of recycled aggregate, and the loss of compressive strength was almost $20\%$ with the recycled aggregate only.

  • In this study, the experiment was carried out to investigate and analyze the engineering properties of concrete using fine aggregate of PS bal slagl. The main experimental variables were water/cement ratio 30, 40, 50(%), water content $170kg/m^3$, replacement ratio of slag fine aggregate 0, 25, 50, 75(%) in experiment I and water/cement ratio 30, 40, 50(%), water content 165, 170, 175($kg/m^3$), replacement ratio of fine aggregate of PS ball 0, 50 in experiment II. According to the test results, the principle conclusions are summarized as follows (1) The workability of slag fine aggregate-mixed concrete tends to improve, as the replacement rate increases. (2) The air content of slag fine aggregate-mixed concrete tends to decrease, as the replacement rate increases. (3) The unit volume weight of slag fine aggregate-mixed concrete tends to significantly increase, as the replacement rate increases. (4) The compressive strength of slag fine aggregate-mixed concrete tends to show more increasing propensity, in case the curing period is relatively long, as the replacement rate increases.

  • It was very important to evaluate concrete experimentally at elevated temperature because concrete was filled with aggregate of concrete volume about 70 percent. Concrete exposure to high temperatures produces changes in its internal structure, for instance loss of its strength and deformation capacity, in extreme cases risking the service life of the structure. The work of this paper is performed to evaluate the thermal behavior of ultra-high strength concrete having different water to cement ratio (strength), fine aggregate to aggregate ratio and maximum size of coarse aggregate. For exposure to 500℃ during 1 hour, residual mechanical properties of the ultra-high strength concrete decreased as the s/a ratio decreases and the maximum size of coarse aggregate increases.

  • This study is aimed to utilize for basic material of concrete quality management through evaluate properties of fresh and hardened concrete with the aggregate quality. As a result, fine aggregate's slump change of between one grade was 8~82% and in case of coarse aggregate, slump change of between one grade was 2~22% on same mixing condition. The unit water for same workability condition, unit water was increased 16kg/㎥ with decreasing of one grade for fine aggregate and unit water was increased 5kg/㎥ with decreasing of one grade for coarse aggregate.

  • This study was performed to evaluate the freezing and thawing properties of the high strength concrete using recycled coarse aggregate. The recycled coarse aggregate replaced natural crushed aggregate by 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. The compressive strength of the concrete using recycled coarse aggregate showed more than 300 kgf/$cm^2$ at the curing age 28 days. The mass loss ratio by freezing and thawing was less than 1% at all mix type. The relative dynamic modulus of elasticity was decreased with increasing the freezing and thawing cycles. Also, the durability factor by the freezing and thawing was decreased with increasing the content of recycled coarse aggregate. But, the recycled concrete except 100% recycled coarse aggregate showed 60 or more durability factor in the freezing and thawing 300 cycles. Accordingly, these recycled coarse aggregate can be used for high strength concrete.

  • In this study, the fundamental properties of cement mortar in relation to the change of the replacement ratio of the RA(Reject-Ash) were analyzed by mixing RA to the mixed aggregate consisting of poorly graded fine rock aggregate and marine aggregate for quality improvement. It was found that replacing 5% of the mixed aggregate with RA could improve the quality of the aggregate to the degree of fine rock aggregates.

  • Fracture properties of concrete depend on the mix proportions of the ingredients, specimen shape and size, type of testing method used for the evaluation of fracture properties. Aggregates play a key role for changes in the fracture behaviour of concrete as they constitute about 60-75 % of the total volume of the concrete. The present study deals with the effect of size and quantity of coarse aggregate on the fracture behaviour of steel fibre reinforced self compacting concrete (SFRSCC). Lower coarse aggregate and higher fine aggregate content in SCC results in the stronger interfacial transition zone and a weaker stiffness of concrete compared to vibrated concrete. As the fracture properties depend on the aggregates quantity and size particularly in SCC, three nominal sizes (20 mm, 16 mm and 12.5 mm) and three coarse to fine aggregate proportions (50-50, 45-55, 40-60) were chosen as parameters. Wedge Split Test (WST), a stable test method was adopted to arrive the requisite properties. Specimens without and with guide notch were investigated. The results are indicative of increase in fracture energy with increase in coarse aggregate size and quantity. The splitting force was maximum for specimens with 12.5 mm size which is associated with a brittle failure in the pre-ultimate stage followed by a ductile failure due to the presence of steel fibres in the post-peak stage.

  • Experimental tests on the high strength self-compacting concrete with light-weight fine aggregate and light-weight coarse aggregate(LHSSC) were performed with slump-flow, reaching time to the slump-flow of 500mm, V-funnel dropping time and U-box difference level and compressive strength. LHSCC with light-weight fine aggregate of 75% and light-weight coarse aggregate of 100% was only satisfied with the property conditions of second self-compacting concrete(SCC), like as flowability, resistance to segregation and filling ability. The 28-day compressive strength of LHSCC indicated above 300kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$ in all concrete mixtures, and it was increased to increase the replacement ratio of light-weight fine aggregate or to decrease the replacement ratio of light-weight coarse aggregate. Therefore, for satisfying the properties of fresh SCC and hardened concrete with above 350kgf/$\textrm{cm}^2$, it would expected that the replacement ratio of light-weight fine aggregate and light-weight coarse aggregate will be determined with 50~75% and 25~50%, respectively.

  • Particle packing properties are important to develop high technology products in the field of cement and concrete. Two types of particle packing models for aggregates with sand and cement were introduced: the loose and the dense aggregate packing. Aggregate packing models with randomly generated sand and cement particles in the interstices of aggregates fit the Furnas model very well. Different aggregate models show different packing properties with the experimental results. Main reason for the difference with the experimental results is due to sand rearrangement in the loose aggregate packing model and to aggregate relaxation in the dense aggregate packing model. In the experimental situation, aggregates seem to be more disordered and have a relaxed packing structure in the dense packing, and sands seem to have a more rearranged packing structure in the loose packing model.
