  • The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of the flowability and the compressive strength of concrete after the improving of grain shape of the coarse aggregate and fine aggregate fineness modulus. According to the experimental results, the coarse aggregate after improvement of grain shape it lead to be down by 6% fine aggregate ratio, from 47% to 41%. The 0.5% increase of fine aggregate fineness modulus lead to 3% increase of concrete slump, and 1% reduction of concrete air content. While compressive strength on fine aggregate fineness modulus, it was increased until fineness modulus 3.0, but after it reached by 3.5 it was decreased. The compressive strength of the coarse aggregate after improving the grain shape was decreased by 6% due to loss of the adhesion of cement paste.

  • This study was performed to evaluate the freezing and thawing properties of the high strength concrete using recycled coarse aggregate. The recycled coarse aggregate replaced natural crushed aggregate by 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. The compressive strength of the concrete using recycled coarse aggregate showed more than 300 kgf/$cm^2$ at the curing age 28 days. The mass loss ratio by freezing and thawing was less than 1% at all mix type. The relative dynamic modulus of elasticity was decreased with increasing the freezing and thawing cycles. Also, the durability factor by the freezing and thawing was decreased with increasing the content of recycled coarse aggregate. But, the recycled concrete except 100% recycled coarse aggregate showed 60 or more durability factor in the freezing and thawing 300 cycles. Accordingly, these recycled coarse aggregate can be used for high strength concrete.

  • The aim of the research is to evaluate the possibility of using coal gasification slag (CGS) as a combined aggregate for concrete mixture. To achieve this goal, the fundamental properties and the durability of concrete were analyzed depending on various combining ratio of CGS into both fine aggregate with favorable gradation and relatively coarse particles. According to the results of the experiment, slump and slump flow were increased with content of CGS regardless of crushed fine aggregate with good and poor gradations while the air content was decreased. For the compressive strength of the concrete, in the case of using the crushed aggregate with good gradation, increasing CGS content decreased compressive strength of the concrete, while when the concrete used crushed aggregate with poor gradation, the compressive strength was the maximum at 50% of CGS content. As a durability assessment, drying shrinkage was decreased and carbonation resistance was improved by increasing CGS content. On the other hand, for freeze-thawing resistance, CGS influenced adverse effect on freeze-thawing resistance. Therefore, it is known that an additional air entrainer is needed to increase the freeze-thawing resistance when CGS was used as a combined aggregate for concrete.

  • The use of the recycled fine aggregate to the material of structural concrete is not easy currently because there are some problems, such as the difficulty of quality control and the badness of chemical and physical property other than river sand, crushed fine aggregate. To use of recycled fine aggregate, many researches on the recycling of recycled fine aggregate have been studying until today. However, the result of the research is little except for some results. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to confirm the possibility of use of recycled fine aggregate for raw material of plaster mortar. In this study, various tests were performed such as flow, air content, unit weight, bond strength, and compressive strength test to evaluate the effect according to the substitution of recycled concrete aggregate. The results of strength test showed that the concrete strength improved with the increase of replacement ratio of recycled fine aggregate. In the other side, flow and air content are decreased according to replacement ratio of recycled fine aggregate. The result of this study could be used as the basic data for the recycling of recycled fine aggregate.

  • A recycled aggregate contains impurities that affect negative effects on physical properties of concrete. Therefore, a test method for examining impurities content in recycled aggregate is necessary before use of recycled aggregate. In this study, the test method by visual examination for separating impurities in recycled fine and coarse aggregates was developed. The results of the test are as follow: 1. The current KS F 2576 was necessary for comprehensive revision including types of tested recycled aggregate, definition of terminology, quantity of sample, and test method. 2. Visual examination is appropriate for larger than impurity panicle size of 1.2mm, and the larger panicle size the shorter time was required. 3. For the impurity content test by visual examination, the easiness and accuracy of the test can be obtained from the condition of sample weight of 30 grams with particle size of 2.5mm to 5mm for recycled fine aggregate and the condition of sample weight of 1 kilogram with panicle size of larger than 5mm for recycled coarse aggregate.

  • It is necessary to generalize the use for structural ALA Concrete in our country, as increasing in the need for the development of ALA and the use of ALA Concrete which is related with the diminution of the self load and foundation section of structure responding to the realistic requirement against the decrease of natural aggregate and the high-rising and large-sizing of structures. This little study, therefore intended to help in the mixing design of concrete by considering the fundamental properties of ALA Concrete used with expanded clay, which is considered by acopting the experimental factors such as unit cement content, water cement ratio and the rate of fine aggregate. By considering the results of this experiment, it has difficulty in getting expected slump with the unit water content of normal concrete because of the large absorption of lightweight aggregate, and because the weight of unit volume and specific gravity ALA Concrete are small it appears that the strength and Elastic Modulus of that are small too and that it is more ductile than normal concrete.

  • The performance of high-strength concrete is controlled by the fact, affecting the quality management, especially by revision error in water content of the ratio of surface moisture in fine aggregate. The difference in water content results from the revision error of the ratio of surface moisture and errors in sampled aggregate in the processing ready-mixed concrete plant. This study is to investigate the properties of flowing and hardening by investionally varying the revision error of the ratio of surface moisture in fine aggregate to compare and analyze the variance in quality.

  • This study was performed to evaluate permeable properties of eco-concrete using soil, natural coarse aggregate, soil compound and polypropylene fiber. The fIexural strength, ultrasonic pulse velocity and dynamic modulus of elasticity were increased with increasing the content of coarse aggregate, soil compound and polypropylene fiber. The flexural strength, ultrasonic pulse velocity and dynamic modulus of elasticity were 259 MPa, 3,527 m/s and 275 ${\times}$ 102 MPa at the curing age of 28 days, respectively. The coefficient of permeability was decreased with increasing the content of coarse aggregate and soil compound, but it was increased with increasing the content of polypropylene fiber. Accordingly, this concrete can be used for farm road.

  • This study is a fundamental consideration for using CGS from the IGCC as a fine aggregate for concrete. For the review, the physical properties and hazardous materials content of KS F 2527 were considered. The results showed that KS F 2527 standard was generally satisfied, making it possible to confirm the possibility that it is a fine metal considering its physical properties and hazardous materials content characteristics.
