  • The purpose of this study was to investigate mediating effect of donation motivation between self-esteem and donation attitude of adolescents. For this purpose, 879 adolescents were surveyed in 4 cities and counties in the northwestern part of Chungcheongnamdo. This research was carried out by T-test and ANOVA to identify the difference of donation attitude according to general characteristics and by correlation analysis of main variables. Also hierarchical regression analysis was performed to identify the mediating effect and it was verified by Sobel test. The main results are as follows. First, donation attitudes differed according to gender, school level, and religion. Second, correlation analysis revealed a positive correlation between self-esteem, donation motivation and donation attitude. Third, regression analysis showed that both intrinsic donation motivation and external donation motivation were partially mediated between self-esteem and donation attitude. Finally, policies to increase donation attitude and donation behavior were discussed.

However, few study has directly intervened learning motivation in children with ADHD. We conducted this study to explore the direct effects of the learning motivation improvement program applied to children with ADHD. Method The program was designed in order to increase an interest-inducing educational intervention, an academic skills integration, a basic learning activity (reading, writing, and math), and children's self-esteem. We conducted the program twice a week (total 10 sessions) and assessed learning motivation, teaming attitude, self-esteem, academic performance, and problem behaviors of participating children. Results : After the program, teachers reported improvement in teaming motivation. In addition, parents notified sisnificant reduction of problem behaviors. Children reported improvement in a few domains of teaming motivation and learning attitude. Conclusion : While loaming motivation is regarded as an important factor in education, there have been few studies considering this issue in both educational and psychiatric fields. The teaming motivation improvement would be needed in both field in order to reduce the deficits in academic performance in children with ADHD.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the factors related to depression between non-multicultural and multicultural middle school students. Methods: In this study, data were collected using structured questionnaires targeting students of 9 middle schools in G Province, Korea. Finally, the data of 304 students were analyzed by descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple regression analyses using SPSS 24.0. Results: The multicultural students showed a higher depression score ($47.14{\pm}8.33$) than the counterpart ($44.22{\pm}8.11$) (p<.001). The results of the multiple regression analysis revealed that academic stress (${\beta}=.33$, p<.001), peer attachment (${\beta}=-.13$, p<.02), and body image (${\beta}=.25$, p<.001) were the influencing factors on depression in non-multicultural students. However, in multicultural students, depression was related to peer attachment (${\beta}=-.16$, p=.03) and self-esteem (${\beta}=-.42$, p<.001). Conclusion: To prevent and manage depression in non-multicultural middle school students, it is essential to help them relieve academic stress and build peer relationships and positive body image. For multicultural middle school students, helping them to have high self-esteem and peer attachment would be the first measure to prevent and manage depression.
