Adolescent's negative emotion-induced eating motivation tended to be higher when adolescent were girl students, or high school students or in higher level of alienation. 2) Alienation was the stronger predictor of adolescent's negative emotion-induced eating motivation than gender and age. 3) There was difference in boy adolescent's negative emotion-induced eating motivation according to age and level of alienation. But there was difference in girl adolescent's negative emotion-induced eating motivation only according to level of alienation. 4) For boy, alienation was the stronger predictor of adolescent's negative emotion-induced eating motivation than age. But for girl alienation was only significant predictor of adolescent's negative emotion-induced eating motivation.

  • Flank Pain is a leading indicator of renal and upper urinary tract disease or trauma, and rarely results from pelvic congestion syndrome. Although pelvic congestion syndrome occurs commonly in multi-parous women, pelvic congestion syndrome should also be considered as the cause of flank pain in an adolescent girl. We report the first case of pelvic congestion syndrome presenting with chronic left flank pain in an adolescent girl.

  • In most cases, subdural hematoma (SDH) is regarded as a complication of head injury and nontraumatic causes are rare. Moreover, spontaneous chronic SDH in child or adolescent is very unusual. Here, we present the case of a healthy 14-year-old girl who was diagnosed as a spontaneous chronic SDH. The patient presented with severe headache following blurring of vision two weeks ago without any history of trivial head injury. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging depicted a chronic SDH. The cause of the hematoma was not established. After performing burr hole drainage of the hematoma, the patient made an uneventful recovery. We explore the potential risk factors and pathophysiology implicated in this condition. Possible pathogenic mechanisms of this unique case are discussed and a review of the pertinent literature is included.

  • Due to its complex pathophysiology and wide spectrum of clinical manifestations, the diagnosis of CRPS is often missed in the early stage by primary care physicians. After being treated by a primary care physician for 5 months for chronic cellulitis, a 16-year-old girl was referred to our hospital with features of type-1 CRPS of the right upper extremity. Inability to diagnose early caused prolonged suffering to the girl with all the consequence of CRPS. The patient responded well with marked functional recovery from multimodal therapy. Ability to distinguish CRPS from other pain conditions, referral for specialty care at the appropriate time and full awareness of this condition and its clinical features among various healthcare professionals are essential in reducing patient suffering and stopping its progression towards difficult-to-treat situations.

  • Adolescent girls experience significant breast growth is a significant secondary sexual characteristic development; their breasts are clearly different from adults' in volume, location and shape. This study was designed to understand brassiere wearing conditions and practices of adolescent girls aged between 15 and 18, as well as to identify problems and solutions so that it can serve as basic guidelines to develop patterns and sizes for adolescent brassieres. This researcher first studied brassiere wearing conditions and size fitness of adolescent girls. We analyzed the 439 collected responses from an online survey. The survey questionnaires encompassed brassiere wearing conditions and practices, brassiere size awareness, brassiere design preference, and brassiere purchase behavior. The survey found that 55.8% of the responders did not accurately understand their brassiere sizes, and those who understood their size showed a higher satisfaction and less discomfort than those who did not. This study found a requirement to educate adolescent girls on how to select and wear the right-sized brassieres. It is also necessary to promote different brassiere designs for adolescent girls' size and body shape.

  • Purpose: This study was done to examine the relationship between sexual permissiveness, family function and parent-adolescent communication among adolescents. Method: A descriptive correlation approach was used and the participants were 956 male and female students. Data were collected by questionnaire survey using convenience sampling. The instruments were the Family APGAR Questionnaire by Smilkstein(1978), PAC by Olson and Barnes(1982), and the Premarital Sexual Permissiveness Questionnaire by Reiss(1967). Data were analyzed using the SPSS 10.0 program with descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficients, t-test, and ANOVA. Results: Family function was significant according to school record, economic status, living arrangement of parent. Parent-Adolescent Communication was significant according to religion, economic status, having a boy/girl friend, and experience of sexual intercourse. Sexual permissiveness was significant for all except economic status. Correlation among the variables showed that parent-adolescent communication was negatively correlated to sexual permissiveness(r=-.127, p=.000) and positively to family function(r=.368, p=.000). Conclusion: The findings suggest that parent-adolescent communication and family function are associated with sexual permissiveness, and the findings of this study are expected to make a contribution to creating an ideal sexual culture for youth.
