  • In this paper, it could improved on the arbitrary nonlinear function learning approximation which have the wavelet neural network based on Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS) and the multi-resolution Analysis(MRA) of the wavelet transform. ANFIS structure is composed of a bell type fuzzy membership function, and the wavelet neural network structure become composed of the forward algorithm and the backpropagation neural network algorithm. This wavelet composition has a single size, and it is used the backpropagation algorithm for learning of the wavelet neural network based on ANFIS. It is confirmed to be improved the wavelet base number decrease and the convergence speed performances of the wavelet neural network based on ANFIS Model which is using the wavelet translation parameter learning and bell type membership function of ANFIS than the conventional algorithm from 1 dimension and 2 dimension functions.

  • The main contribution of the present paper is to propose an intelligent fuzzy inference system approach for modeling the debonding strength of masonry elements retrofitted with Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP). To achieve this, the hybrid of meta-heuristic optimization methods and adaptive-network-based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) is implemented. In this study, particle swarm optimization with passive congregation (PSOPC) and real coded genetic algorithm (RCGA) are used to determine the best parameters of ANFIS from which better bond strength models in terms of modeling accuracy can be generated. To evaluate the accuracy of the proposed PSOPC-ANFIS and RCGA-ANFIS approaches, the numerical results are compared based on a database from laboratory testing results of 109 sub-assemblages. The statistical evaluation results demonstrate that PSOPC-ANFIS in comparison with ANFIS-RCGA considerably enhances the accuracy of the ANFIS approach. Furthermore, the comparison between the proposed approaches and other soft computing methods indicate that the approaches can effectively predict the debonding strength and that their modeling results outperform those based on the other methods.

  • This paper proposes a technique for fault detection and classification for both LIF(Low Impedance Fault)s and HIF(High Impedance Fault)s using Adaptive Network-based Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS). The inputs into ANFIS are current signals only based on Root-Mean-Square(RMS) values of 3-phase currents and zero sequence current. The performance of the proposed technique is tested on a typical 154 kV Korean transmission line system under various fault conditions. Test results show that the ANFIS can detect and classily faults including (LIFs and HIFs) accurately within half a cycle.

  • Recently, as HTTP-based video streaming traffic continues to increase, Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP(DASH), which is one of the HTTP-based adaptive streaming(HAS) technologies, is receiving attention. Accordingly, many video quality control techniques have been proposed to provide a high quality of experience(QoE) to clients in a DASH environment. In this paper, we propose a new quality control method using ANFIS(Adaptive Network based Fuzzy Inference System) which is one of the neuro-fuzzy system structure. By using ANFIS, the proposed scheme can find fuzzy parameters that selects the appropriate segment bitrate for clients. Also, considering the characteristic of VBR video, the next segment download time can be more accurately predicted using the actual size of the segment. And, by using this, it adjusts video quality appropriately in the time-varying network. In the simulation using NS-3, we show that the proposed scheme shows higher average segment bitrate and lower number of bitrate-switching than the existing methods and provides improved QoE to the clients.

Recently ANFIS(Adaptive Network-based Fuzzy Inference System) has been noticed widely among various fuzzy neural network models because of outstanding performance of control and forecasting accuracy. ANFIS has capability to refine its fuzzy rules interactively with human expert. In particular, when we use initial rule structure for machine learning which is generated from human expert, it is highly probable to reach global optimum solution as well as shorten time to convergence. We propose metrics to evaluate interpretability of generated rules as a means of acquiring domain knowledge and compare level of interpretability of ANFIS fuzzy rules to those of C5.0 classification rules. The proposed metrics also can be used to evaluate capability of rule generation for the various machine learning methods.

  • It has been established that a crack has an important effect on the dynamic behavior of a structure. This effect depends mainly on the location and depth of the crack. Toidentifythelocation and depth of a crack in a structure, a method is presented in this paper which uses neuro-fuzzy-evolutionary technique, that is, Adaptive-Network-based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) solved via hybrid learning algorithm (the back-propagation gradient descent and the least-squares method) and Continuous Evolutionary Algorithms (CEAs) solving sir ale objective optimization problems with a continuous function and continuous search space efficiently are unified. With this ANFIS and CEAs, it is possible to formulate the inverse problem. ANFIS is used to obtain the input(the location and depth of a crack) - output(the structural Eigenfrequencies) relation of the structural system. CEAs are used to identify the crack location and depth by minimizing the difference from the measured frequencies. We have tried this new idea on beam structures and the results are promising.

  • Accurate detection and classification of faults on transmission lines is vitally important. In this respect, many different types of faults occur, such as inter alia low impedance faults (LIF) and high impedance faults (HIF). The latter in particular pose difficulties for the commonly employed conventional overcurrent and distance relays, and if undetected, can cause damage to expensive equipment, threaten life and cause fire hazards. Although HIFs are far less common than LIFs, it is imperative that any protection device should be able to satisfactorily deal with both HIFs and LIFs. Because of the randomness and asymmetric characteristics of HIFs, their modeling is difficult and numerous papers relating to various HIF models have been published. In this paper, the model of HIFs in transmission lines is accomplished using the characteristics of a ZnO arrester, which is then implemented within the overall transmission system model based on the electromagnetic transients program (EMTP). This paper proposes an algorithm for fault detection and classification for both LIFs and HIFs using Adaptive Network-based Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). The inputs into ANFIS are current signals only based on Root-Mean-Square (RMS) values of 3-phase currents and zero sequence current. The performance of the proposed algorithm is tested on a typical 154 kV Korean transmission line system under various fault conditions. Test results demonstrate that the ANFIS can detect and classify faults including LIFs and HIFs accurately within half a cycle.

  • This paper presents to create a SAC(Sectional Area Curve) using an ANFIS(Adaptive-Network-based Fuzzy Inference System). First, it defines SACs of parent ships by using a B-spline approximation and a genetic algorithm and accumulates a database about SAC's control points. Second, it learns an ANFIS from parent ship data, which are related with principal dimensions and SAC's control points. This process is to model an ANFIS for SAC inferreice. When an ANFIS modeling is completed, we can determine a SAC through an ANFIS inferring.

  • This paper proposes an efficient system identification method for modeling nonlinear behavior of civil structures. This method is developed by integrating three different methodologies: principal component analysis (PCA), artificial neural networks, and fuzzy logic theory, hence named PANFIS (PCA-based adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system). To evaluate this model, a 3-story building equipped with a magnetorheological (MR) damper subjected to a variety of earthquakes is investigated. To train the input-output function of the PANFIS model, an artificial earthquake is generated that contains a variety of characteristics of recorded earthquakes. The trained model is also validated using the1940 El-Centro, Kobe, Northridge, and Hachinohe earthquakes. The adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) is used as a baseline. It is demonstrated from the training and validation processes that the proposed PANFIS model is effective in modeling complex behavior of the smart building. It is also shown that the proposed PANFIS produces similar performance with the benchmark ANFIS model with significant reduction of computational loads.
