An Adaptive Control Approach for Improving Control Systems with Unknown Backlash

  • Backlash is common in mechanical and hydraulic systems and severely limits overall system performance. In this paper, the development of an adaptive control scheme for systems with unknown backlash is presented. An adaptive backlash inverse based controller is applied to a plant that has an unknown backlash in its input. The harmful effects of backlash are presented. Compensation for backlash by adding a discrete adaptive backlash inverse structure and the gradient-type adaptive algorithm, which provides the estimated backlash parameters, are also presented. The supposed adaptive backlash control algorithms are applied to an aircraft with unknown backlash in the actuator of control surfaces. Simulation results show that the proposed compensation scheme improves the tracking performance of systems with backlash.

센서없는 직류서보전동기의 속도 제어를 위한 적응 고이득 관측기 설계 (Design of a Adaptive High-Gain Observer for Speed-Sensorless Control of DC Servo Motor)

  • This paper deals with speed control of DC servo motor using a Adaptive high gain obserber. In this parer, the gain of the observer is properly set up using the fuzzy control and adaptive high gain observer that have a superior transient characteristic and is easy to implement compared the existing method is designed. In order to verify the performance of the Adaptive high gain observer which is proposed in this paper, it is compared estimate performance of High-gain Observer and Adaptive High Gain Observer with the computer simulation. Effectiveness of the proposed high gain observer is proved from the experiment to compare the case with a speed sensor to the case with Adaptive high gain observer in the speed control of DC servo motor.

  • This paper develops a adaptive fuzzy controller based fuzzy logic control for high performance of permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) drives. In the proposed system, fuzzy control is used to implement the direct controller as well as the adaptation mechanism. The operation of the direct fuzzy controller and the fuzzy logic based adaptation mechanism is studied. A model reference adaptive scheme is proposed in which the adaptation mechanism is executed by fuzzy logic based on the error and change of error measured between the motor speed and output of a reference model. The control performance of the adaptive fuzzy controller is evaluated by simulation for various operating conditions. The validity of the proposed adaptive fuzzy controller is confirmed by performance results for PMSM drive system.

  • In this paper, a combined field orientation and adaptive backstepping approach using a sliding mode adaptive flux observer, is proposed for the control of induction motor In order to achieve the speed regulation with the consideration of improving power efficiency, rotor angular speed and flux amplitude tracking objectives are formulated. Rotor flux and inverse time constant are estimated by the sliding mode adaptive flux observer based on a fixed stator frame model and mechanical lumped uncertainty such as inertia moment, load torque disturbance, friction compensated by the adaptive backstepping based on a field-oriented model. Simulation results are provided to verify the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

  • In Part I (theoretical study) of the paper, a new adaptive autopilot for ships based on Adaptive Neural Networks was proposed. The ANNAI autopilot was designed for course-keeping, turning and track-keeping control for ships. In this part of the paper, to show the effectiveness and feasibility of the ANNAI autopilot, computer simulations of course-keeping and track-keeping tasks with and without the effects of measurement noise and external disturbances are presented. Additionally, the results of the previous studies using Adaptive Neural Network by backpropagation algorithm are also showed for comparison.

Adaptive Beamformer Using Signal Location Information for Satellite

  • The satellite employs an adaptive beamformer to efficiently detect various signals and to suppress multiple interference signals, simultaneously. Although the adaptive beamforming satellite system needs Angle-of-Arrival (AOA) information of the desired signal, it is difficult to estimate the signal AOAs on the satellite environment. However, the AOA estimation on the ground control tower is more efficient and accurate comparing to the satellite environment. In this paper, we propose an adaptive beamforming satellite system based on the signal location information on the ground, consisting on an angle estimator, an adaptive beamformer, and signal processing & D/B unit. The ground control tower estimates the accurate location of the signal source, and it sends the estimated coordinates of the desired signal to the satellite. The angle estimator mounted on the satellite calculates the desired signal AOA, based on the signal location information transmitted from the ground control center. The satellite beamformer detects the desired signal and suppresses unwanted signals based on the signal AOA calculated by the angle estimator. We provide computer simulation results to present the performance of the proposed satellite adaptive beamforming system based on the signal location information.

  • This paper describes the real-time implementation of an adaptive controller fur the robotic manipulator. Digital signal processors(DSPs) are special purpose micro-processors that are particularly powerful for intensive numerical computations involving sums and products of variables. TMS320C50 chips are used in implementing real time adaptive control algorithms to provide an enhanced motion for robotic manipulators. In the proposed scheme, adaptation laws are derived from the improved Lyapunov second stability analysis based on the direct adaptive control theory. The adaptive controller consists of an adaptive feedforward controller and feedback controller. The proposed control scheme is simple in structure, fast in computation, and suitable for real-time control. Moreover, this scheme does not require any accurate dynamic modeling, nor values of manipulator parameters and payload. Performance of the adaptive controller is illustrated by simulation and experimental results for a assembling robot.

시뮬레이션과 회귀분석을 연계한 적응형 공정의사결정방법 (Adaptive Process Decision-Making with Simulation and Regression Models)

  • 본 연구는 생산공정운영시 발생하는 담당자의 의사결정 지원을 위한 학습형 공정 의사결정 시스템 구축방법에 대한 것이다. 먼저 추출 및 누적된 각 공정 별 이력 데이터에서, 주요한 주요자원(Critical Resource)을 단계적 회귀법에 따라 선정한다. 선정된 주요자원을 독립변수로 취급하여 담당자의 의사결정 대상이 되는 공정운영 성과를 종속변수로 하는 회귀모형을 산출하고, 해당 주요자원으로 구성된 시뮬레이션 모형을 설계한다. 메타휴리스틱 방법을 통하여 의사결정 시점의 생산계획 및 목적에 대한 시뮬레이션 분석을 실행하고, 복수 대안 및 가능해(기대성과)를 산출한다. 각각의 대안에서 주요자원 별 회귀모형을 구성하는 분석 값을 회귀식에 대입하고, 여기에서 얻어지는 값과 시뮬레이션 분석에 의해 산출된 가능해 간의 비교를 통하여 그 차이가 가장 작은 대안을 최적대안으로 선정하고 실제 공정운영 의사결정에 반영하여 생산을 실시한다. 이때 발생하는 공정 이력 데이터들은 이후 의사결정을 위한 회귀모형에 피드백 된다.

QAM 신호에서 Adaptive Modulus를 이용한 SMMA 적응 등화 알고리즘의 성능 개선 (Performance Improvement of SMMA Adaptive Equalization Algorithm using Adaptive Modulus in QAM Signal)

  • 본 논문에서는 SMMA (Sliced Multi Modulus Algorithm) 등화 알고리즘에서 등화기의 출력 전력에 비례하는 adaptive modulus를 이용하므로서 등화 성능을 개선할 수 있는 AM-SMMA 알고리즘에 대하여 다룬다. 기존 SMMA 알고리즘에서는 등화기의 탭 계수 갱신을 위한 오차 신호를 발생할 때 송신측 QAM 신호의 통계 특성치인 modulus를 고정적으로 사용하지만, 제안 AM-SMMA에서는 등화기 출력 신호의 전력에 비례토록 modulus를 적응적으로 사용하게 된다. 제안 알고리즘의 개선된 등화 성능을 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션을 통해 확인하며, 성능 지수로는 등화기 출력 신호 성상도, 수렴 특성을 나타내는 잔류 isi, 최대 찌그러짐과 채널의 신호대 잡음비에 따른 SER을 사용하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과 slice 가중치가 적으면 잔류isi, 최대 찌그러짐 성능이 우월하며, 가중치가 큰 경우 SER 성능이 우월함을 확인하였다.
