  • It is difficult to generate DTM using aerial photographs because trees usually cover disaster occurred areas. So, this study proposed how to filter by moving window using digital aerial photographs and generate accurate DTM. The results were compared with those of adaptive filtering by commercial digital photogrammetry software (Socet set) to find out the effect of tree removal by window size in forest soil sediment disaster. And then they were compared with DTM generated from LiDAR data. As a result, it was showed that the accuracy of moving filtering DTM was lower than that of LiDAR DTM while it was higher by 6m than that of Adaptive filtering.

  • In this paper, we proposed a postprocessing algorithm for quantization effects reduction in block coded images using the block classification and adaptive filtering. The proposed method consists of classification, adaptive inter-block filtering, and intra-block filtering. First, each block is classified into one of seven classes based on the characteristics of 8$\times$8 DCT coefficients. Then each block boundary is filtered by adaptive inter-block fitters according to the block classification. finally for blocks which are classified into edge block, intra-block filtering is performed. Experimental results show that the proposed method gives better results than the conventional methods from both a subjective and an objective viewpoint.

  • A postprocessing method for blocking artifact reduction in block coded images is presented. The proposed method consists of classification, adaptive inter-block filtering, and intra-block filtering. First, each block is classified as one of seven classes according to the characteristics of 8x8 DCT coefficients. Then each block boundary is faltered by adaptive inter-block filters, which use the block classes. Finally to the blocks which are classified as edge block classes, intra-block filtering is performed. Experimental tests produced that the proposed method gives better results than the convectional methods from both a subjective and an objective viewpoint.

  • Wavelet scheme can be applied to the various remote sensing problems: conventional multi-resolution image analysis, compression of large image sets, fusion of heterogeneous sensor image and segmentation of features. In this study, we attempted wavelet-based filtering and its analysis. Traditionally, statistical methods and adaptive filter are used to manipulate noises in the image processing procedure. While we tried to filter random noise from optical image and radar image using Discrete Wavelet Transform (DW1) and Stationary Wavelet Transform (SW1) and compared with existing methods such as median filter and adaptive filter. In result, SWT preserved boundaries and reduced noises most effectively. If appropriate thresholds are used, wavelet filtering will be applied to detect road boundaries, buildings, cars and other complex features from high-resolution imagery in an urban environment as well as noise filtering

  • Adaptive noise cancellation techniques are ideally suitable for reducing spatially varying noise due to the grain structure of material in ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation. Grain noises have an un-correlation property, while flaw echoes are correlated. Thus, adaptive filtering algorithms use the correlation properties of signals to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the output signal. In this paper, a multi-stage adaptive noise cancellation (MANC) method using adaptive least mean square error (LMSE) filter for enhancing flaw detection in ultrasonic signals is proposed.

  • Unlike a noise removal recursive temporal filter, this paper presents a temporal filter which improves visual quality and data compression efficiency. In general, for the temporal band-limitation, temporal aliasing should be considered. Since most of a video signal has temporally aliased components, it is desirable to consider them. From a signal processing point of view, it is impossible to realize the filtering not afeced by the aliasings. However, in this paper, efficient filtering with de-aliasing characteristics is proposed. Considering the location of a video signal, temporal filtering can be accomplished by the spatial filtering along the motion vector trajectory (Motion Adaptive Spatial Filter). This filtered result dose not include the aliasings. Besides the efficient band-limitation, temporal noise is also reduced. For the evaluation of the MASF, its realization and filtering characteristics will be discussed in ditail.

  • This paper introduces effective noise removal method for medical ultrasound volume data. Ultrasound volume data need to be filtered because it has a lot of noise. Conventional 2d filtering methods ignore information of adjacent layers and conventional 3d filtering methods are slow or have simple filter that are not efficient for removing noise and also don't equally operate filtering because that don't take into account ultrasound' sampling character. To solve this problem, we introduce method that fast perform in parallel bilateral filtering that is known as good for noise removal and adjust proportionally window size depending on that's position. Experiments compare noise removal and loss of original data among average filtered or biliteral filtered or adaptive biliteral filtered ultrasound volume rendering images. In this way, we can more efficiently and correctly remove noise of ultrasound volume data.

  • In this paper, a robust nonlinear echo cancellation is proposed, where a third-order adaptive Volterra filtering is employed along with an expanded correlation LMS (ECLMS) algorithm to compensate for nonlinear distortion in the echo path. (e.g., DAC of the hybrid network). Finally, the robustness in the echo cancellation of the proposed approach is demonstrated using computer simulations, where high attenuation of echo signals is achieved even in the double-talk situation (e.n., BdB improvement in ERLE).

  • A new approach to the real-time measurement of muscle fatigue by using adaptive filtering algorithm is proposed. Unlike previously reported methods, it can estimate the muscle fatigue at every sample as the EMG signal statistics change. As a result, the muscle conduction velocity ranged between 4.2-5m/s at low tension and 3-4m/s at fatigue state.
