  • This paper focuses on human adaptive HVAC system that can regulate the thermal comfort of the resident in intelligent buildings. The thermal comfort is represented in this paper by PMV (Predicted Mean Vote) as defined by ISO 7730. This PMV value indicates how hot or cold a resident feels by considering temperature, humidity, resident's metabolic rate, relative air velocity, and clothing insulation. In order to develop such a system, a location detection system based on ZigBee module was used along with temperature sensors, other environment sensors. The human adaptive HVAC system was evaluated experimentally on a test bed emulating a room.

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the meanings of formative methods (re-creative expressions, abstractive expressions, conceptual expressions, and adaptive expressions) as they are adapted to fashion design. Re-creative expression is the representation of real objects from nature or the environment, sometimes in a humorous or surrealistic way. Abstractive expression is the use of reconstructed forms extracted from the basic characteristics of natural things, which take on variety of appearances based on the designer’'s creativity and imagination. Conceptual expression refers to the representation of ideas, concepts, and other products of the human mind. And, adaptive expression is a method of design that is focused on function driving the form of clothing. Modern fashion design is a fluid hybrid of these various types of expression that serves as an extension of the designers’' aesthetic values.

Bisexuality in fashion can be interpreted as an effort in recovering the attitude within commentarialism, as opposed to the dichotomous split of the sexes. It is a reflection of the fundamental desire to be as one and implies "freedom" as an expression of feminism and postmodernism furthermore. Bisexuality is a reactionary movement in fashion which encompasses adaptive ways to the world we now inhabit. It is also a clear picture of the necessity of destroying the dichotomous sexuality in order to achieve the freedom and the importance of realizing as a whole the oneness of human kind. Bisexuality in fashion primarily is the pursuit of a new perspective on the human entity required in the modern world. Namely a communitarian spirit devoid of sexual prejudices. And secondly, it is a phenomenon reflecting the transitional woes of the pluralistic society experiencing deconstructivism and reconstructivism.ructivism.

  • In South Korea, the government has recently enforced regulations associated with buildings. Temperature restriction in indoor environment is one of the common ways of energy reduction in order not to dissipate heating and cooling energy; however the people who are in restricted temperature feels uncomfortable. Furthermore, occupants cannot feel the same thermal sensation even they are in the same place. For the reason, occupants should express their thermal sensation and HVAC system should be able to apply their demand. It is proved by an adaptive principle. The adaptive model means that people react in ways which tend to restore their comfort, when change occurs such as to produce discomfort. In order to design HVAC control strategies based on adaptive model, we designated an existing office building as a reference building to gather data from actual field. Furthermore, we gathered occupants' thermal sensation and clothing insulation in real-time. We filtered the data with Kalman's filter method. The data was reasonable when there is an alarm messages for asking questionnaire. The response ratio were different in occupants' thermal condition. In conclusion, the filtered occupants' thermal sensation can be used as a real time HVAC control and input value of HVAC control.
