A study on the receive buffer control schemes for bobile multimedia services (이동 멀티미디어 서비스를 위한 수신버퍼 제어에 관한 연구)

  • The paper proposes an effective mechanism hiring the adaptive buffer control schemes on the mobile seceiver's side that can resolve the problems of delay spikes caused by the handover process onthe cell boundaries when they transmit real-time moving images through the high speed wireless channels. to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed schemes, we have modeled the characteristics of the random errors on the wireless channels, the burst errors and that of the transmission delay by the handover. We also compared the rate of the delay-adaptation of the receive buffers caused by the delay and delay spikes. the comparison was done by testing the suggested schemes against the existing schemes by applying tehm to the packet delay model. We also could identify the noticable reduction of the casesof buffer delay and overflow compared with the conventional schemes, by applying the suggested algorithm to the video image compressed by H.263.

Quick Semi-Buddy Scheme for Dynamic Storage Allocation in Real-Time Systems (실시간 시스템에서의 동적 스토리지 할당을 위한 빠른 수정 이진 버디 기법)

  • Dynamic storage allocation (DSA) is a field fairly well studied for a long time as a basic problem of system software area. Due to memory fragmentation problem of DSA and its unpredictable worst case execution time, real-time system designers have believed that DSA may not be promising for real-time application service. Recently, the need for an efficient DSA algorithm is widely discussed and the algorithm is considered to be very important in the real-time system. This paper proposes an efficient DSA algorithm called QSB (quick semi-buddy) which is designed to be suitable for real-time environment. QSB scheme effectively maintains free lists based on quick-fit approach to quickly accommodate small and frequent memory requests, and the other free lists devised with adaptation upon a typical binary buddy mechanism for bigger requests in harmony for the .improved performance. Comprehensive simulation results show that the proposed scheme outperforms QHF which is known to be effective in terms of memory fragmentation up to about 16%. Furthermore, the memory allocation failure ratio is significantly decreased and the worst case execution time is predictable.

  • This paper introduces an adaptive anti-sway tracking control algorithm for container cranes with unknown payloads and friction between the trolley and the rail. If the friction effects in the system can be modeled, there is an improved potential to design controllers that can cancel these effects. The proposed control improves the sway suppressing and the positioning capabilities of the trolley and hoisting against uncertain payload and friction. The variable structure controls are first designed based on a class of feedback linearization methods for the stabilization of the under-actuated sway dynamics. The adaptation mechanism are then designed with parameter estimation of unknown payload and friction compensation for the trolley and hoisting, based on Lyapunov stability methods for the accurate positioning and fast attenuation of trolley oscillation due to frictions in the vicinity of the target position. The asymptotic stability of the overall closed-loop system is assured irrespective of variations of rope length. Simulations are shown under various frictions and external winds in the case of no priori information of payload mass.

A Study on the Establishment of New Town Competitiveness Model (신도시의 경쟁력 모형 설정에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims at understanding both the mechanism of new town's competitiveness and its normative pursuit. For the purpose the study steps as follows; (1) Defining operationally cities' competitive power by means of analytic interpretation of substantial nature involved in the preceding studies, (2) Finding some lessons for the desirable development suggested from the history of new town construction in England, France and Japan, where the spatial needs for solving urban problems were exploded after the Second World War, (3) Focusing to agendas regarding development, for example, sustainable development, (4) Recognizing differences between competitiveness of cities and that of new towns and finally (5) Building the model of new town competitiveness, which explains what makes the competitiveness and what kind of effort are necessary for acquiring the advantage. As the result of the process this study concludes that the competitiveness is caused by, or composed of 4 factors. They are Self-sufficiency, Identity, Innovativeness and Sustainability. This frame can be named SIIS-model of new town competitiveness. But there should be contingent and elastic approach in adaptation of these factors to a specific new town, considering its own goal, scale and other situation. The model established in this study is expected to be a analytical frame for the follow-up studies on finding problems and seeking directions of new town development in our country.

Adaptive Fuzzy-Neuro Controller for High Performance of Induction Motor (유도전동기의 고성능 제어를 위한 적응 퍼지-뉴로 제어기)

  • This paper is proposed adaptive fuzzy-neuro controller for high performance of induction motor drive. The design of this algorithm based on fuzzy-neural network controller that is implemented using fuzzy control and neural network. This controller uses fuzzy rule as training patterns of a neural network. Also, this controller uses the back-propagation method to adjust the weights between the neurons of neural network in order to minimize the error between the command output and actual output. A model reference adaptive scheme is proposed in which the adaptation mechanism is executed by fuzzy logic based on the error and change of nor measured between the motor speed and output of a reference model. The control performance of the adaptive fuzy-neuro controller is evaluated by analysis for various operating conditions. The results of experiment prove that the proposed control system has strong high performance and robustness to parameter variation, and steady-state accuracy and transient response.

  • This paper is proposed adaptive fuzzy-neural network controller(NFC) for speed control of surface permanent magnet synchronous motor(SPMSM) drive. The design of this algorithm based on NFC that is implemented using fuzzy control and neural network. This controller uses fuzzy rule as training patterns of a neural network. Decision of Abnormal Quality Unit Lists from Claim Database

  • Most enterprises have controlled claim data related to marketing, production, trade and delivery. They can extract the engineering information needed to the reliability of unit from the claim data, and also detect critical and latent reliability problems. Existing method which could detect abnormal quality unit lists in early stage from claim database has three problems: the exclusion of fallacy probability in claim, the false occurrence of claim fallacy alarm caused by not reflecting inventory information and too many excessive considerations of claim change factors. In this paper, we propose a process and methods extracting abnormal quality unit lists to solve three problems of existing method. Proposed one includes data extraction process for reliability measurement, the calculation method of claim fallacy alarm probability, the method for reflecting inventory time in calculating claim reliability and the method for identification of abnormal quality unit lists. This paper also shows that proposed mechanism could be effectively used after analyzing improved effects taken from automotive company's claim data adaptation for two years.

High Control of Induction Motor Drive using Multi Adaptive Fuzzy Controller (다중 적응 퍼지제어기를 이용한 유도전동기 드라이브의 고성능 제어)

  • The field oriented control of induction motors is widely used in high performance applications. However, detuning caused by parameter disturbance still limits the performance of these drives. In order to accomplish variable speed operation conventional PI-like controllers are commonly used. These controllers provide limited good performance over a wide range of operation even under ideal field oriented conditions. This paper is proposed adaptive fuzzy controller(AFC) and artificial neural network(ANN) based on the vector controlled induction motor drive system. Also, this paper is proposed control of speed and current using fuzzy adaptation mechanism(FAM), AFC and estimation of speed using ANN. The proposed control algorithm is applied to induction motor drive system using FAM, AFC and ANN controller. Also, this paper is proposed the analysis results to verify the effectiveness of this controller.

  • A novel inverter fault-tolerant control scheme is proposed to drive brushless DC motor. A fault-tolerant inverter and its three fault-tolerant schemes (i.e., phase A fault-tolerant, phase B fault-tolerant, and phase C fault-tolerant) are analyzed. Eight voltage vectors are summarized and a voltage vector selection table is used in the control scheme to improve the midpoint current of the split capacitors. A stator flux observer is proposed. The observer can improve flux estimation, which does not require any speed adaptation mechanism and is immune to speed estimation error. Global stability of the flux observer is guaranteed by the Lyapunov stability analysis. A novel stator resistance estimator is incorporated into the sensorless drive to compensate for the effects of stator resistance variation. DC offset effects are mitigated by introducing an integral component in the observer gains. Finally, a control system based on the control scheme is established. Simulation and experiment results show that the method is correct and feasible.

Physiological and proteomic analysis of young rice leaves grown under nitrogen-starvation conditions

  • Rice grown in anaerobic waterlogged soil accumulates ammonium as a major source of nitrogen (N). We have compared the physiological symptoms of rice seedlings subjected to N-starvation stress with those receiving sufficient N, based on measurements of shoot/root length and weight and an analysis of protein expression patterns. N starvation marginally increased root growth but notably decreased shoot biomass. N uptake was reduced by >50% in the roots and shoots of N-starved seedlings. To better understand the mechanism of N starvation in rice, we performed a comparative proteome analysis of proteins isolated from rice leaves. Twenty-five differentially expressed proteins were analyzed by matrixassisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight (TOF) mass spectrometry and electron spray ionization quadrupole TOF. Functional analysis of the N-starvation response proteins suggested their involvement in protein synthesis and fate, metabolism, and defense. These results indicate that these proteins may play important roles in regulating the plant's complex adaptation responses for N use during N starvation. The proteins may be useful for further characterization of protein function in plant N nutrition.
