This paper confirmed the effect of Baekho-tang(白虎湯) on psoriasis patient diagnosed with Yangmyung-Yeoljeung(陽明熱證). We treated patients with psoriasis classified as Yangmyung-Yeoljeung(陽明熱證) according to Shanghanlun(傷寒論) with Baekho-tang(白虎湯). Two patients was treated with Baekho-tang(白虎湯) for 18 days and 75 days, respectively. Baekho-tang(白虎湯) used in the treatment consisted of Gypsum Fibrosum 16g, Oryza semen 12.5g, Anemarrhena Rhizoma 6g and Glycyrrhizae Radix 2g. The severity of psoriasis was evaluated by PASI(psoriasis area severity index) and pictures. Also we checked the change in Pruritus by VAS(visual analogue scale). After the Baekho-tang(白虎湯) treatment, the PASI of 2 patients decreased from 13 to 2.8 and from 10.8 to 0.8 respectively. In addition, VAS of 2 patients diminished from 10 to 3 and from 8 to 1 respectively. Moreover, no side effects were observed. We received effective results by giving Baekho-tang to Psoriasis patients with sweaty, dry mouth, and heating sensation. Anti-inflammatory, antipyretic effects and immunomodulatory functions of Baekho-tang(白虎湯) could lead to improvement of psoriasis.

Compare western medicine report and books which refer to Gout with Oriental medicine books which refer to Tongp'ung(痛風). The results of studying about Gout and Tongp'ung(痛風) were summarized as follows. l. Dangyesimbub(丹溪心法) was printed in 1481 and also the first book which referred to Tongp'ung(痛風). 2. Donwonsipjonguiso(東垣十種醫書) was printed in 1592 and also Tongp'ung(痛風) was recorded like gout especially in cause of disease. 3. Ancient times, Affection by exopathogen and six kinds of natural factors were persisted the cause of Tongpung(痛風), later generation drink, diet and labor were persisted. 4. In Beunjungrok(辨證錄) and susyebowon(壽世保元), there were similar expressions about gout, for examples interval phase and chornic tophaceous. 5. In Uihakjongjon(醫學正傳) and Manbeunghoechun(萬病回春) insisted that gout patients had to control their food especially meat, fish snd drink. 6. According to the cause(Pung(風), Han(寒), Sub(濕)), doctor classified Bi(痺) first was Hangbi(行痺), second was Tongbi(痛痺) and last was Chakbi(着痺). 7. Doctors thought that Tongp'ung(痛風,) was not Hangbi(行痺) and Chakbi(着痺) but it was Tongbi (痛痺). Especially in pain, they thought it was similar to Bakhoyeukjolp'ung(白虎歷節風).

Background and Objective : Atopic dermatitis is a type of dermatitis, an inflammatory, relapsing, non-contagious and itchy skin disorder and affecting up to 30% of children in the Korea. In this study, Huini-san, which is mentioned in Shanghanlun(傷寒論), and acupunture treatment on Atopic Disease was investigated. Methods : We have classified the patients according to the Shanghanlun six meridian patterns diagnostic system and the patients are treated with Huini-san. The severity of Atopic dermatitis was evaluated by SCORAD index, visual analogue scale(VAS) and pictures. Results : After the treatment the SCORAD index and VAS of 2 patients dicreased significantly. Conclusions : Huini-san and acupunture treatment has improved the symptoms of Atopic dermatitis in this study.

The purpose of this study is to identify the effect on a patient with bulimia nervosa-purging type and depression according to the oriental medical treatment and cognitive-behavioral therapy. In this case, a 28 year-old female patient had a binge eating and reward behaviors for 2 years. This patient was treated with acupunture therapy, Soyo-san for 5 months after cognitive-behavioral therapy for 12 sessions(2 times a week). The result of this research showed that bulimia nervosa with depression was improved by our treatment.

The purpose of this study is to identify the effect on 5 chronic insomnia patients according to the oriental medical treatment and sleep restriction therapy. These patients were treated with Sa-Am acupunture therapy(瞻正格), Ondam-tang, sleep restriction therapy and evaluated about comfort and improvement after therapy. The result of this research showed that all patients were satisfied with improvement of insomnia subjectively. I considered that chronic insomnia can be improved by oriental medical treatment with sleep restriction therapy and continuous research must be accumulated subsequently.

Objective : This study was carried out to investigate the progress of bilateral simultaneous facial palsy and the effect of Hominis Placenta herbal-acupunture and the other oriental medical therapies. Method : We used two methods to research the progress of disease. 1. Diagnosis - Facial muscle test, Taste test, Hearing test, Photographies, Lab-finding 2. Treatment - Acupuncture, Herbal-acupuncture, Electroacupuncture, Herb-med Edema rate, Pain endurance, WBC, Hemoglobin, Platelet, Total protein, Albumin, Globulin, RA factor, CRP Results : The onset of Rt. facial palsy was earlier than Lt. facial palsy 3days. The reaction on the treatment of Rt. facial palsy was more dull than Lt. facial palsy. In terms of treatment period, Rt. facial palsy was very longer than Lt. facial palsy. Conclusion : According to the above results, we discoveried that Hominis Placenta herbal-acupunture and the other oriental medical therapies had good influence on the bilateral simultaneous facial palsy. In the future, we should endeavor to know influence between Rt. and Lt. face in case of bilateral simultaneous Bell's palsy.

The occurrence of brain stem stroke after lumbar selective nerve root block seem to be an uncommon event comparing it to after cervical selective nerve root block. We recently experienced a 60-year-old man who were diagnosed as left lateral medullary infarction (Wallenberg's syndrome) after lumbar selective nerve root block. He was treated by traditional Korean medicine with acupunture, Pulsed electromagetic therapy (PEMT), herb medicine. The range of motion of upper and lower extremity, manual muscle test, Korean version of Berg balance scale (K-BBS) and Korean version of Barthel index (K-MBI) were adopted to measure the resulting recovery after 4 weeks treatment. Traditional Korean medicine was effective for rehabilitation of patient. Further studies are needed to set up and Korean medical protocol for Wallenberg's syndrome.

Objective: The purpose of this study is to compare Sa-Am's Ohaeng-acupuncture(舍巖五行鍼法) with Linqi-aupuncture(六氣鍼法)-the transforms of Sa-Am's Ohaeng-acupuncture. Methods : Zheng Ge(正格), Sheng(勝格), Han Ge(寒格), Re Ge(熱格) of Sa-Am's Ohaeng-acupuncture compared with Liuqi-acupuncture(六氣鍼法)-therapy form invigoration and purgation of five zang-fu's wind. heat, dapness, dryness and cold(風熱濕燥寒). Results: 1. Liuqi-acupuncture used five-su points(五兪穴) and Zi-Ta Jing Bu Xie(自他經補瀉). 2. Liuqi-acupuncture is reinforced or reduced itself-point of itself-meridian(自經自穴) in therapy for invigoration and purgation. 3. Liuqi-acupuncture is therapy for invigoration and purgation of five zang-fu's wind, hear, dampness, dryness and cold(風熱濕燥寒). 4. Zheng Ge is similar to Bu-fa, Sheng Ge is similar to Xie-fa in Qu-xue of Ta-jing. The Qu-xue of interrestraining relations is the same, but that of interdependent relation is the difference in Qu-xure of Zi-jing. 5. Han Ge and Re Ge is similar to Re Bu Xie fa in Qu-xue fo Zi-jing but is different to in Ta-zing. For example, Han Ge is Shaofu(Bu), Yingu(Xie) but Re Ge is Shaofu(Xie), Yingu(Bu).

The activities of phase I enzymes in the liver of mice were examined following the intragastric application of Cnidium officinale Makino aqua-acupunture solution (COMAS). Treatment of mice with COMAS resulted in decreases of cytochrome P450 1A1-dependent ethoxyresorufin-O-deethylation and cytochrome P450 2E1-dependent p-nitrophenol and aniline hydroxylation activities. These findings suggest that COMAS has chemopreventive potential by inhibiting cytochrome P450 1A1 and cytochrome P450 2E1 activities in mice.
